Chapter 485 Suspicion

The three super bodyguards who Eric helped Peter subdue him later were indeed taken back by ASHIELD. The next morning, ASHIELD came to inform him, and Eric called Peter to come to ASHIELD's mothership.

It was still an old acquaintance, Sharon Carter, who led the two to a prison. Nick Fury had already waited in the reception room in advance. As soon as the two entered, Peter couldn't wait to say: "You'd better have some good news, because I have a very bad premonition about this... Oh, it's not the kind of premonition of 'spider sensing', or the kind of premonition that is simple and bad..."

"You caught those three people last night, and we have found the origin." Fury said lightly, "They are all mercenaries, second-rate guys, and the kind that are not worth mentioning. Our experts have conducted detailed tests for them and found the corresponding ingredients in their blood, which can briefly give a normal human spider superpower."

"Yes, that's the thing! The major gangs in New York have been buying and selling these things recently!" Peter said, "Wait, did you just say 'for now'?"

"Yes, by this time, the abilities of the three of them have become invalid." Fury said, "The potion is not lasting, but even so, it is serious enough. This is a high-security super-energy gene leakage accident. We have conducted a follow-up investigation."

"It sounds really reassuring." Peter muttered.

"The amount of drug residue remaining in these three people is not much, but our experts still found some of the ingredients from it and found that they are quite similar to the research of one of our old friends."

Peter raised his eyebrows: "Old friend? Do I know each other?"

"It's so familiar." Fury said, "We'll see him in a while."

Fury then led the two men away and went straight into the prison. The guards seemed to have been greeted in advance, and no one said to stop them. As he passed through one defense after another, requiring high-level security verification, the two couldn't help but wonder what level of guy was hiding behind such a strict defense.

The last lock was lifted, and the three of them finally arrived at the prison door. Through the 4-inch layer of bulletproof glass, a short and fat guy with a messy hair and a prison uniform was sitting in the center with his back facing away from several people. Peter looked at the back for a few glances and felt a little familiar.

"Otto." Fury said lightly, "Someone is coming to see you."

Peter's heart trembled, and then he realized that this was the octopus monster who made his life turn upside down and one of Spider-Man's biggest enemies? But he always felt that his aura was... that was a bit strange than before.

The man turned a deaf ear to Fury's cry. Fury kept calling him three times before he seemed to realize that he was calling him. He turned around slowly and showed a foolish smile at the three of them.

Peter was so surprised: "You...what did you do to the old octopus monster? Why does he look a little like it now..."

"A preschool mentally retarded child?" Fury said, "That's exactly what he is now. But believe it or not, we did nothing to him. He suddenly became like this. After the identification of the experts, they all said that he was really stupid and might have been stimulated."

"Wait, you said it's similar to his skills..."

"Yes. Otto has cloned you, and there are quite a few. If anyone knows the operation of Spider-Man's ability best, I think it's him." Fury said, "It's a pity that I've spent a while with him before you came here, but he seems to be stupid. We can't expect anything to come out of him."

Eric said: "It's a pity that he can't speak now."

"No," Fury said, "maybe he will never be able to speak."

Behind the bulletproof glass, Otto was still staring at them foolishly, his eyes fixed on Peter intentionally or unintentionally, showing a silly smile.

Fury then arranged for someone to ask Peter some questions, all about whether his genes could be leaked through other channels. He hoped to think of clues that would help to discover the identity of the mysterious group selling potions. Unfortunately, the morning passed and there was no sign of the eye. Helplessly, the two had to leave first, and if there was any change, the Aegis will contact him.

Eric then went straight back to the watchtower, and Peter and Gwen had a date in the evening, so the matter was temporarily put aside.

As the evening approached, Gwen arrived at the place where he had made an appointment with Peter on time. She thought that according to the custom, she would have to wait here for at least an hour and a half before he would appear, but she didn't expect that Peter would wait here early this time, and was very surprised.

"Hey," Gwen walked forward and asked strangely, "What wind is blowing today? How long have you been?"

"Well... it's not long." Peter looked up and down, his expression was quite unnatural.

Gwen wondered, and asked, "Is something wrong?"

"Ah... no, no." Peter frowned and thought for a long time, suddenly stretched out his hand, pulled Gwen away from the sidewalk without saying a word, and found a very small area. He looked around for a while, as if worried that someone would follow him.

Gwen was even more confused, but realized that something was wrong and whispered: "You started to scare me, Peter. What exactly happened? Tell me we can solve it together."

Peter just shook his head and said, "Listen, Gwen, I...I can't explain, but I need you to believe me, do you believe me right?"

Gwen hesitated for a while, but still nodded: "Yes."

"Then I hope you can leave for a while."

"Leave? Where to go?" Gwen said in surprise. "What's wrong, Peter? Is anyone getting it back? Is it Osborn?"

"It's not Osborne, nor is it any old rival to Spider-Man. Go anywhere, just go somewhere that others can't find." Peter panicked, "Please, I can't explain it, but... it's very important."

Gwen sighed and said, "Okay. But promise me that I must tell me what this is for afterwards."

Peter said seriously: "I promise."

Then, he sighed with relief and said to her: "Thank you."

The two left immediately. But less than ten minutes after they left, another "Peter" ran from the opposite side of the sidewalk to the place where they agreed to meet. Looking around, he could not see Gwen's traces. He gasped for a moment, checked the time and confirmed that he was more than 30 minutes late, and took out his cell phone and started trying to dial Gwen's number.

"Sorry, the call you made cannot be connected for the time being. Please leave a message after hearing the 'beep'..."

Peter frowned.
