Chapter three hundred and eighty eighth
Coastal, Dr. Ivo's hidden cabin.
When Roy easily pried open the simple lock of the cottage and pushed open the old wooden door, a musty smell in the air suddenly came to his face, forcing people to make a move.
Eric followed Roy into the living room of the cottage. There was no light along the coastline until the distance within his eyes, and he couldn't see his fingers in the cottage. Eric tried to press the switch of the living room light, but no response.
Roy turned on the flashlight of the wrist equipment, and the light yellow aperture projected into the darkness. The cottage was not big, with only four rooms, including the bathroom, and there was no breath of living in all rooms.
The moment the bedroom door was pushed open, the air flow caused heavy dust to spread out, and a large amount of dust flew under the beam of flashlight, like heavy snow.
"Well, there seems to be nothing worth discovering here." Eric waved away the smoke in front of him and said, "It must be at least two or three years since no one has come back."
The furnishings in the bedroom are quite simple. For a mad scientist with huge ambitions, this kind of pure and desire-free retirement place really seems a bit inconsistent. The bookshelf beside the bedside are pictures of him when he was young, as well as various amazing scientific awards that Dr. Ivo has won, silently telling the life of a genius.
"He has no family." Roy said suddenly.
After his reminder, Eric noticed that there was nothing in the entire bedroom that was related to his family, and that all the things that could recall Dr. Ivo's life were all about himself. Although the old man had inflated evil ambitions in his later years, it is undeniable that he was also a person who devoted himself to science all his life and did not even get married in his entire life. He was an admirable person just talking about this.
But it seems that there is really nothing worth discovering here. All the traces indicate that even if Dr. Ivo has been here, it was at least several years ago.
After stopping for a moment, Roy's communication equipment rang. He pressed the headset inside his helmet to connect the line and asked, "Oracle, what did you find?"
Oracle...is it Barbara Gordon? Eric thought to himself.
As he speculated, the other end of the communication was Barbara Gordon. She was a bat girl when she was young, but now she has retreated to the second line to serve as a "oracle" as Roy's logistical support. What Eric doesn't know is that Barbara in this world is Roy's wife.
"As you said, I carefully checked all the information left by Dr. Ivo in the past and found his only bank account that has not been frozen." Barbara said, "The next part is the interesting part - a month ago, a huge sum of 10 million US dollars was withdrawn from the account, and all of them were cashed out, but the purpose cannot be traced."
"It's not difficult to guess." Roy said lightly, "that's Death Knook's commission - this is Death Knook's own habit. Unlike most mercenaries and assassins who now accept payments in electronic transfers, Death Knook does not trust such new technology. He is a relatively conservative person who only accepts payment methods for cash and checks."
"Very wise." Barbara commented.
"But in this way, we can roughly guess where others are now." Roy said. "The Death Knell has four hiding places in Gotham, which are the strongholds he used to rest when he came here for his mission. He thought these locations were very hidden, but in fact I knew them well."
"You know everything well," Barbara said, pausing and complaining, "besides how to make women happy."
That night, hours later, the death knell's hiding place.
Dr. Ivo's short body was huddled in front of the computer operating table, staring at the light blue screen intently, and operating quickly in his hands. Death Knell stood behind him while holding his hands in front of his chest, watching his movements coldly.
"So you got everything you want, why has that robot not started yet?" asked Death Knell.
"It's Amozor, the most powerful machine in the world's history." Dr. Ivo's small eyes turned over and reminded him with dissatisfaction, and said, "The preparation has been completed long ago. Now I'm just re-correcting its ai to make sure it won't roast you and me into a human steak after waking up."
After pausing, he turned his head and continued to operate, and said, "Also, you promised me that this stronghold is absolutely hidden."
"It's definitely hidden," said Death Bell, "Batman or Wing Knight, they will never find it here."
"That's interesting." Dr. Ivo glanced at him sideways and said in a low voice, "Because the sensor I installed just now found that two bed bugs were coming in."
Death knell frowned slightly.
At the same time, inside the ventilation duct above.
Eric followed Roy and walked along the ventilation duct for a long time. The direction was already in a mess, and he couldn't find the southeast, west and north at all. He couldn't help but secretly admire Roy's sense of direction. He could still find the direction through such a messy ventilation duct. It should be considered a special talent.
Suddenly, Roy stopped.
Eric climbed forward and looked down through the gap in the ventilation grille below. He saw Death Knell standing directly under them, his back facing their direction, not knowing what he was doing.
"He didn't seem to notice us?" Eric asked, "What should I do now?"
"Now," Roy said, "Let's go down."
"What?"
Eric was stunned. Before he could react, Roy had already kicked the ventilation grille with a "bang" and jumped to the floor.
Death Knell sneered, turning around without any surprise: "You can notice it, should you say you are worthy of being a Wing Knight? It's really not that easy to cheat."
"Death knell." Roy said coldly, "so are you working for Ivo's old immortal now?"
Death Knell shrugged: "Generally speaking, I won't reveal any information about the customer, but it doesn't matter when it reaches this point. So yes, it's that old man Ivo."
"What is his purpose?"
"Sorry, there's nothing to tell. Also..."
At this point, the backpack on his back had been activated and unfolded, and the Yamozhuo armor covered his entire body.
"...You don't have time to worry about other things."
Roy didn't say a word, and took a step back and prepared to fight.
The atmosphere was tense, and the two old opponents who knew themselves and their enemies were already on the string, waiting for an opportunity to move each other, as if they were ready to take action at any time every second.
And at this moment, Eric jumped down and stopped Roy.
"Sorry," he stared at Death Knell and said lightly, "But can this battle be handed over to me?"
