Chapter 14 Secrets of World War II
The dark red Ferrari galloped on the road, and the unrestrained driver made it speed between traffic like a horse on the field. Red lightning kept passing by cars, like a gust of wind scattering them far behind.
In the passenger seat, Eric looked at the light flashing through the street lights outside the window and was ecstatic. Even now, the sudden change he encountered in the past two days caught people off guard. If it were an ordinary person, it would be impossible for him to have time to accept such a world-shaking life. It was like an endless dream, a nightmare that never wakes up.
Eric glanced into the driver's seat, Sharon Carter was casually holding the steering wheel with one hand and resting his hand easily on the ridge where the window was rolling down. The strong wind swept through the speeding Ferrari window like a whip, stirring her blonde hair to fly like a wave.
She seemed to enjoy the feeling of being immersed in this speed.
There was an old song that was already quite old in the car. Although Eric had never heard of it, his musical style made him think of the streets of the United States in the last century. The volume that had been adjusted to the maximum was still suppressed by the whistling wind, but Sharon seemed to have no mind and hummed the tunes with the beat.
"Hey, I said," Eric tried his best to raise the volume and overshadow the roaring wind and music, "Can you turn this off?"
"Why? It sounds pretty good."
"It's so noisy, and you should tell me, right? Where are we going? And what exactly are the clues you mentioned?"
Sharon reluctantly rolled up the window, turned the volume of the speaker, and then opened his mouth leisurely.
"Before that, I'll ask a little question." She paused and asked, "The power you got...what do you plan to do with that armor? For example, save citizens in trouble from the fire and other things?"
Eric simply said: "No."
His straightforward and neat answer made Sharon choke: "Why? Don't you think that such a powerful force will bring any responsibility?"
"Then you will tell me the greater your ability and the greater your responsibility, right? Sorry, I really didn't think so."
"Why?"
"Please," Eric said angrily, "It's thankless, why should I do such a thing?"
Sharon burst out laughing.
"What's so funny?"
"It's nothing, I just think you're such a disquiet guy." Sharon smiled. "If I hadn't observed you for so long, I might have believed it. Although I usually pretended not to care about anyone and didn't want to help with a little bit of a busy situation, I couldn't stand by in my bones when I really encountered big things. I'd thought so long ago. It's really rare for you to be an interesting guy who speaks like this."
"I'm going to sue you for violating your personal privacy!" Eric protested loudly, and then his voice became weaker involuntarily, "Besides, where do I have it..."
"Okay, okay, let's get back to the point. As far as we know, you've fought with this genetically modified man-made creature twice, right?" Sharon said seriously. "In fact, before that, we had encountered similar creatures more than once, and successfully captured several of them for analysis, confirming that they were all from the same person-or organization-."
After a pause, she turned to ask, "How much do you know about Nordic myths?"
Eric was slightly stunned at the topic of sudden jumping and did not react for a moment.
"You know a little bit, what's wrong?"
“Until now, it is generally believed that the story content in Norse myths is fictional and unfounded, but now we are convinced that a lot of it… may be real. In other words, God… does exist between us.”
She paused deliberately as she said the last sentence, as if to give Eric the digestion time to accept this shocking fact. But unfortunately, she was disappointed to find that Eric had no surprise on her face, and her face was filled with words like "Oh I know, then what?"
"You don't look surprised at all?"
"In the past few days, I have encountered two monster-like humans. One of them can grow to the height of a foot that can be cut off. Then I inexplicably got a black technology armor that could bring super powers that I couldn't imagine... So yes, as long as you don't say something like 'I'm a god' in the next sentence, I don't think I'll be surprised."
"Okay." Sharon continued helplessly, "In fact, Thor, the legendary Thor in Nordic legend, has already dealt with us humans... not long ago. However, these were listed as confidential content and were not announced to the public. In addition, we also learned through this Thor that the existence of the "Nine Realms" including the earth, and that there are other lives in outer space outside of us. But as we set up an expert group and studied this aspect, we were surprised to find something..."
Her tone became deeper and her expression became solemn.
"Although we haven't noticed it, in fact, decades ago, before the end of World War II, our world had already established connections with another space called the 'Divine Realm' in Nordic mythology. Someone opened the passage to the Divine Realm before us...a human."
"What?"
Eric had to admit that he was a little surprised.
According to his previous memory of Marvel, the first time that humans really came into contact with the Divine Realm people should be the time when Thor Thor arrived. And at that time, even the Divine Realm people could only use the teleportation ability of the mythical "Rainbow Bridge" to shuttle through the nine realms and come to the earth. Before that, humans who could open up the road to the Divine Realm... would there be such a guy?
"Some detailed situations involve confidentiality, and I can't tell you without authorization." Sharon said, "What I can tell you is that it was a genius of the German Nazis during World War II...evil, but indeed a genius. Due to his existence, the Allies were once in a very dangerous situation and were really a very dangerous opponent back then. His last plan was about the Divine Realm. We still don't know the whole story, but one day more than seventy years ago, that guy mastered the technology that could connect the Divine Realm and the Earth."
She paused for a moment, as if she had sorted out her brain for a moment before continuing: "Using that technology, he brought all kinds of creatures that only existed in the legend from another space...and even more creatures of the divine realm that were not recorded in the legend. He planned to join the battlefield of World War II with such a team of divine beasts. If that happens, the Allies would have no chance."
"Then? Did he not succeed? I remember no history book mentioned the army of the divine beasts on the battlefield of World War II."
Sharon nodded: "Yes. Fortunately, before his plan could enter the final step, Captain America invaded his base and shattered his ambitions... Unfortunately, that was also the last battle for the captain."
"Then the captain woke up after decades of freezing. I know that there is still his museum in the city."
"Yes. Since the only captain who discovered this plan never came back after blowing up the base, we don't know about these divine beasts after the war ended. It was not until the captain was dug out of the ice that we learned this story from him. We sent people back to the place where Captain America finally fought. After a month of excavation, we really found the remains of a divine beast left behind the base..."
"I guessed it." Eric took a deep breath and lay in the soft backrest of the chair. "Are you saying that these guys who have been transformed into monsters... are humans mixed with the genes of the Divine Realm creatures?"
Sharon said nothing, as if he had made a default.
Although she did not explain, the so-called Nazi genius was probably...
