Chapter 1 The New Universe

There is no moon in New York tonight, and the sky is dominated by dark clouds. The heavy rain pours down, as if the gate of the Heavenly Reservoir is broken, and the raindrops are "crackling" on the ground, making a dense beat like beads. The heavy rain is like a waterfall washing the New York neighborhoods like a mirror. The big red and green light reflects colorful light on the smooth street.

Eric Charlotte walked home along Broadway Street. Theoretically, he happened to be eighteen years old this year - if not the part of his life before his reincarnation. Yes, Eric Charlotte is a time traveler, from a much normal place than this crazy world.

How crazy is this world?

Take New York as an example. Just a few streets away from here, a tower that seemed to pierce the night sky stands in the rain. With Eric's outstanding vision, you can see clearly the shiny tower's top with the letters "STARK" written in large letters with aluminum alloy frames. At that height, it is like a lonely night light flashing with white neon lights. On the other side of this same city, the building of Osco Enterprises stands like another black castle on a rainy night. Incandescent lights illuminate each floor behind the glass curtain wall, and three transparent sightseeing elevators are running at high speed.

Probably since recent years, superheroes have gradually entered people's vision. Among them, the first one to appear in people's vision was the famous Playboy Iron Man in the comic universe. Perhaps other superheroes were active before him, but most of them were spread in the mouths of urban legends or strange stories. The first superhero to climb onto the screen and swagger to announce his existence is indeed the first one.

Since he learned about Stark and Osco, he has always felt that this is the Marvel Universe, and he must have traveled to the Marvel Universe by accident. However, since he first found out that there were still cities like "metropolis" and "Gotham" in this world, the view that he originally thought it would be impossible to be worse was refreshed again.

Well, suppose that an earth has sunk once every three days and a doomsday once every five days. Then what if two earths are combined together? Eric has been wondering for so many years why no aliens have fallen from the sky and planted a small flag in the center of Times Square to announce that the planet has belonged to them from now on, or why those organizations that have been said to have existed for hundreds of thousands of years and have brewed endless evil plans for so many years have not been separated into the world before the so-called superheroes were born.

Whether from the world view of Marvel or DC, if those superheroes have not been born yet, then even two earths are not enough to divide the evil forces hidden underwater. So perhaps why it is not over yet why it is still unsolved to be a mystery.

Well, if all the time travelers in fan novels form an organization, Eric feels that he must have embarrassed his countless predecessors. His predecessors traveled to a new universe, as if they were extremely excited, as if they were ready to show off their skills in the new world with golden fingers, joining Avengers, Thanos, Darkside and other alien villains, making some infinity gloves, Infinity Gems and other divine outfits... Maybe they can fight with a life court in the end, and finally return triumphantly, and then welcoming the winner of life with the hug.

Then what about Eric? Eighteen years have passed, and it seems like it was before coming, and it still looks like it after coming.

It is said that the basic rule of the superhero world is "poor people rely on mutation, and rich people rely on technology." It seems very simple, but opportunities like mutation are hard to come by. Maybe you think, isn't Spider-Man just a bite of a spider? But someone bites it and becomes Spider-Man. If you go to find the same spider and bite it, what if you bite it directly? Opportunity is like the protagonist in a martial arts novel that falls on a cliff, and he will probably pick up a peerless secret book similar to "Nine Suns Divine Arts". However, when passers-by falls from the same cliff, they will most likely explain it directly.

Mutation is hard to come by. Even if there are only 7 billion people on Marvel or DC, there are only so many superpowers in total. You can't expect yourself to hit that probability just like winning a lottery. As for "technology", the first condition is that you have to be very rich, first of all, you have to be a rich second generation. This has to mention Eric's parents after his reincarnation. The problem lies here - he has never seen them since he was three, and he was raised by a nanny until he was fifteen.

Sometimes Eric even feels that the probability of hitting such a strange pair of parents is probably the same as the probability of regenerating the superpower. It is said that his parents are doing something big outside, doing mysterious research all day long, claiming that it is "absolutely confidential". Eric doesn't like this word, especially in such a crazy world. He doesn't even know if his parents are still alive. Maybe they happen to be researchers in some genetic modification project, and then they died in an experimental accident where a three-headed and six-armed monster was accidentally created.

Well, that's just a complaint. He actually knew that his parents were still alive because they would occasionally write some concise and clear letters, and always carry some cash in the envelope. His bank card also regularly earns money, not too much or too little, at least he never feels that he has no worries at hand.

In fact, he didn't want any magnificent life. He held his arms and turned the tide when the world collapsed. He just wanted to live his life in an ordinary way, make a few close friends, meet his other half of life, and then settle down.

But he is a time traveler, and the moment he came to this world, he was destined to be unable to spend his life ordinary as he wished.

And the incident begins tonight.

"See the ghost rain."

Eric finally walked to the door of the house and muttered dissatisfiedly. At this moment, his whole body was soaked in the rain. The only thing he wanted to do now was to quickly go into the house and throw off his soaked sweatshirt, then go straight to the bathroom to take a refreshing shower.

Then, the moment his hand touched the security door handle, he stopped.

The door is open.
