Chapter 3 Warm Home

Gelsau is a very small town located in the south of Mount Rigi. It is not Interlaken and Ingberg, a famous scenic town on the tourist route, and there are few tourists. Even tourists who come to Mount Rigi specifically for tourism, most of them take the top train from Witznau to go up the mountain. Only a small number of tourists who like to hike will come to Gelsau. However, the original Gelsau is the most suitable place to live.

Jonas' new home is in the valley behind Gelsau. Because motor vehicles are not allowed to drive on Mount Rigi, Jonas' home is the end of the motorway. When he was at home, Jonas rarely drove. He had a few Spanish Andalusian horses at home, and Jonas had a four-year-old stallion. Usually he had nothing to do, he liked to drive horses on the farm and occasionally sneak up to Mount Rigi to play. In his memory, he had never taken a train or cable car to ride on Mount Rigi, or either riding horses or hiking.

After parked the speedboat at the dock, Yanik arranged to cover the speedboat with a rain cloth. Cecia drove the Volvo station wagon that had been parked in the parking lot to the dock and loaded all the things Yonas prepared in.

Drive along the undulating road to the valley, the scenery around it is picturesque. At the end of the road is Yonas's home, a hidden farm. The total area of the farm is 200,000 square meters, which is 300 acres. Half of the area is forest, and the remaining half is mostly pastures, which mainly raises dairy cows and beef cattle. Among the pastures, there are wooden houses specially for cattle to live in.

Around the valley are neat vineyards, almost three hectares of vineyards, and you can harvest about 18,000 liters of wine every year. There is only a small part of the crops grown, and the little wheat and potatoes produced are mainly self-sufficient.

The main house is a three-story brick-and-wood castle-style building, located in a small forest. Most of these trees are over a hundred years old, and many of them are big trees that two people can't hold. There is a small lawn in front of the house, and a small garden behind it. The front and back of the house are full of beautiful flowers.

Most of the workers on the farm hired from Austria. Although Switzerland has always controlled the number of migrant workers and only foreigners are allowed to be hired if they are not allowed to work by their own personnel. However, in terms of agriculture, the policies are still looser. After all, young people in Switzerland do not like to work on the farm all day.

As soon as he got off the car, Yonas was helped by his grandmother Hannah. Yonas' grandfather Yanker and grandmother Hannah were not as fat as ordinary German elderly people. They worked on the farm for a long time, and both of them were very thin and in good health. Although they were in their seventies, they would go hiking with full arms every week and climb snow-capped mountains once a month. This kind of persistence is not even comparable to Yonas in the past, let alone Zhou Lei, who likes to stay at home after work.

Since childhood, Yonas has loved the faint milky smell of grandma and kissed her. Even though Zhou Lei's soul was a little resistant, he could not resist Yonas's instinctive reaction. He allowed her to kiss her cheeks, had a few intimate conversations with her, and slowly walked into the house with the help of a crutch.

When Cecia gave birth to Yonas, she was injured and could not take any children again. As the only son, Yonas could enjoy the most meticulous care, but she could not fill the regrets in the hearts of the elderly. What they always wanted was a lively big family. Now there are too few people in the family for this castle, which has been around for almost a hundred years.

A cousin of Uncle Yonas's family, Alera, came to Switzerland from Spain and is now in charge of the farm work at his family. Her three children have added a lot of laughter and lively atmosphere to the family. This has always made his grandmother Hannah full of longing for Jonas' love and future marriage life. This is also the place where Jonas felt the greatest pressure in the past.

In the past, Jonas always insisted on getting married after he was thirty. However, for Jonas, who now has Zhou Lei's soul, when to get married is not a problem. The problem is to have a suitable partner. There is still a pretty shadow in his heart.

Xue Ling has not officially entered the entertainment industry yet. If she can regain love with her now, then Jonas will also be confident that she will convince her family to marry a Chinese girl. Just thinking that Xue Ling is only seventeen years old and he is now a foreigner, Jonas thinks this is a bit unreliable.

Dinner is still the usual set, cheese hotpot with dry bread, a mix of noodles, a large amount of cheese fruit salad, chocolate cake, and a glass of wine. Almost all of these foods are produced by our own farms. The bread and noodles are grown by our own wheat, the cheese is made by our own home, and the wine is made by our own home. Only some fruits are bought from outside.

Yonas didn't eat hot pot, and he felt that he couldn't eat it. After filling his stomach casually, he threw down his fork and said, "Grandma, I'll prepare the food for noon tomorrow. I'll make Chinese food for you tomorrow."

Hannah said in confusion: "I remember your school didn't teach you how to cook Chinese food."

"I learned it myself, and now I feel like I can make delicious dishes," Jonas said.

"Is your feet OK?"

"It's okay. As long as you don't work hard, there's no problem." He turned to ask Yannik: "Dad, do you have any arrangements tomorrow? If it's not a big deal, I think it's a good idea for you to stay at home."

Cecia smiled and said, "Your dad is fine tomorrow. I also want to go to Zurich. My jewelry needs to be cleaned. However, I try to rush home at noon."

Jonas said with a little smugness: "Then you better hurry up, otherwise you will know what regret is."

Cecia said strangely: "Why are you regretting?! I think you just did it for me again, it shouldn't be that difficult, right? My son..."

"Well, you won, my mom. I will prepare the best lunch for you." Jonas smiled proudly. "I'm worried now, what if the food I cook is so delicious that you can keep your appetite so picky?"

Grandpa Yankel hummed and said, "Boy, I don't believe you can make any delicious food. The historical memories you give me are not very good."

Yonas, a professional hotel management student, is also a compulsory course for making some ordinary foods, but his past skills are indeed very ordinary. Yonas didn't refute and said with a smile: "Grandpa, or we can make a bet, I have longed for your saddle for a long time."

Yannik scolded: "Jonas, don't talk to grandpa like this."

Hannah said, "It's okay, you're just too boring. I think this is better for Yonas." She stroked the back of Yonas' neck and smiled and said, "Ignore your dad, I support you."

Cecia smiled and said, "I have always opposed him being serious in front of his family. It is better to be closer to his family. Grandpa, dad, and children can also be friends."

Yanik said: "That's your Spain..."

"Jonas is also a child of Spain. He is not just a child of Germans."

Yankel laughed and said, "Okay, this is my problem with Yonas and I. You don't have the right to express your opinions. Yonas, then what is your bet? My saddle is more than four hundred years old. What bet do you have?"

Jonas laughed and said, "If the dishes I cook cannot get your praise, then I will not go to the United States and stay in Switzerland."

Hannah said happily: "I think it's OK."

Yannik asked in surprise: "Didn't you always dream of going to the United States or London?"

Yonas pretended to be careless and said: "This injury has made me feel a lot of feelings that I had never had before. Now I think it is actually very good to live leisurely like this."

Cecia asked, “Don’t you feel bored anymore?”

Jonas shook his head and said, "When I feel bored, I can go out and play, and I don't have to live there."

Cecia smiled and said, "Although I think young people should experience more fast-paced life, I feel happier if you stay in Switzerland."

Hannah said with a smile: "Yes, stay in Switzerland, and don't go anywhere else. London is a big garbage dump, and the United States is a place for a group of nouveau riche. It's good to have Switzerland there."

The door was pushed open, and cousin Alera walked in. It was raining outside, and a few strands of hair were pressed on her forehead, and some wet marks were found in her clothes. She said to Yankeel: "Grandpa Yankeel, there was a strong wind just now, and a bull house on the hillside was lifted up. Hector has passed now, and I am afraid that he can't take care of him alone."

Yankel and Yannik both stood up, quickly changed into raincoats and rain boots, and rode their bicycles over. Alera and Yonas hugged each other, and did not stay for too long, followed behind to the cowhouse where something was wrong.

It was getting late and it was raining so heavily that I would not come to repair the roof now, so I could only transfer the cows to other cow houses.

Jonas had an injury to his foot and couldn't help. He went back to the surveillance room next to the living room and pointed out the picture of the roof being blown away by the strong wind. This surveillance is not for the purpose of preventing theft. In Switzerland, there are not many thieves, and no one will come to steal cows. The surveillance is just to observe the state of the cows at any time and serve the cows better.

There were six cows in each cowhouse, Yankel and Yannik, as well as Jonas's cousin Hector. Each of them led two cows and moved the cows to an empty cowhouse. The distance was not close, and the three of them walked twenty minutes before they arrived.

There are some specialties when not placing these cows nearby. They are not cows in the same house, and locking them together will affect milk production. Yonas observed on the monitor that the three of them locked the cows in and began to dry the cows. The same is true for the sake of milk production.
