1303. The land of the extreme north (2/5)

After the ship sailed on the sea for four days and four nights, traces of the North Islands finally appeared.

These days, Steve and others played cards on the boat, while Li Du led people to dry dried fish during the day and stockpile ice fish at night.

The temperature in the Arctic Circle is low, and this season is still below zero at night. They hang the fish and use a brush to brush water on the fish, just like brushing oil. Finally, a snow-white and crystal ice layer will appear outside the fish.

So when they got off the boat, they threw the ice fish into the trunk of the car, making a "bang" sound like throwing bricks.

Steve picked up an ice squid and smiled, "This thing can not only be used as food, but also as a weapon. If we had this thing before, we don't need grenades, we can use it to smash them!"

It is not very easy to climb the Northern Islands. The Wilikitsky Strait separates it from the land. There are no excellent ports on the island, only two natural docks, which can be used to dock ships after being simply cleaned up by people.

Li Du looked around and saw that the Northern Islands were left alone on the vast and cold ice sea, and you could vaguely see the snow-white ice land on it.

The archipelago has a complex terrain, and the four main islands look like they are carved from ancient glaciers. There are swamps and hills on the island, and some small hills located in the north are almost covered with snow all year round.

Fortunately, there is some green on the southernmost Bolshevik island, which has a rare polar forest in the Arctic Circle, with a series of cold-zone trees growing in cedar, black spruce, fir and oak.

If it weren't for these greens, the island would have been a bit too dead.

Of course, there must be residents on the island, and as the Ice Sea Narwhal approached the pier, some wooden boats appeared in front of them.

Several small boats slowly floated on the clear and deep sea, tied to the dock columns by cables. There are some exquisite and cute houses on the coast, which are still made of simple wood, but they do not appear rough.

Sophie took out the camera and sighed softly: "It's beautiful here, it's really a paradise for photography enthusiasts."

The Northland Islands may be cold and deserted, but the scenery here is nothing to say. The islands are either green, snow-white or gray-yellow, like ice beauties covered in brocade.

But if people live here, no one is willing to do so. No matter how beautiful the scenery is, it will get bored if you see too many beautiful scenery. What people need is still change and liveliness.

The cargo ship carefully approached the dock because the dock was too narrow, and the cargo ship could only put down a narrow iron plate as a passage.

Steve went to measure it, shook his head and said, "No, it's not as wide as the car, how can I drive it off?"

The driver threw away the cigarette in his hand and squatted down and looked at it, saying, "Get out of the way, I'll do it."

He got into the car, and the heavy-duty off-road vehicle first adjusted its direction in the cabin, and then slowly drove out.

Almost half of the tires on both sides can be pressed on the iron plate, and the other half is in the air. Li Du looked out and saw that there was surging sea water below, and it was very dangerous to drive on the iron plate.

The driver drove the car steadily, one after another, never missed.

The crew couldn't help but applaud: "Awesome!"

There are many supplies on the ship, and they have to store these supplies, in addition to food, vegetables, fruits, clothes and tents, as well as other things, such as medicines, oxygen tanks, and various fuels.

They transported all the supplies to the ground, and a small hill quickly piled up on the dock.

There are some small wooden houses on the shore, and there are several families living in it.

Steve went to discuss with them, rented six houses, moved the supplies in, and they came back to replenish them.

The cargo ship docked at noon, and it was already sunset when they finished packing their things.

When the weather is clear, the Arctic Circle has the most beautiful night in the world, and the stars are even more brilliant here. The colors of the stars in the night sky are colorful, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue, purple, and thousands of them are included!

Li Du looked up and felt that when he looked up, he saw stars. These stars were like hanging on his head.

"You can pick the stars with your hands, and you are afraid of shocking the people in the sky." He said to Sophie, "Look, our poetry culture is not made out of nothing, and you can always find certificates in reality."

Sophie adjusted the focal length of the camera and smiled and said, "That's why I like Tang poetry and Song lyrics so much."

There are many houses on the shore, and there are more than twenty on the pier. There are more to go deeper into the island. There are some small villages on the island, with few people here, but there are still people living.

The Ice Sea Narwhal brought some daily necessities, including oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea, spatula, bowls, basins, clothes, bedding, glass, oil, etc., all kinds are complete.

Under the night, a bonfire was lit by the dock, and people appeared in the villages on the island. They came to do business with the Narwhal and lived here, and they could only rely on foreign ships to replenish daily necessities.

Similar to some kind of work that Li Du had worked in for a period of time, the transaction here was to barter and each person could take the needs.

The things brought by the Narwhal are very cheap outside, but it is not convenient for people on the island to go out, so the things are rare and expensive, so the prices of these things will rise when they arrive on the island.

The things the villagers use to trade are mainly wild resources, including seal skins, bird's nests, abalone, dried shrimps, fish fillets, animal skins, deer antlers, etc. In addition, there are some more precious things, such as silver blocks and golden sand.

The captain and crew checked the things the villagers brought. When they were almost the same, they would accept them and asked the villagers to choose the daily necessities they brought.

Disputes rarely occur, and the local villagers are gentle. If the captain and crew shake their heads and say no, they will put down their chosen things and change them.

Someone took a fancy to a cotton coat, and he only brought some dried shrimps. The captain shook his head, and the man reluctantly kept holding the cotton coat.

Li Du said: "You don't have to be so stubborn, right? Look at his clothes, what is the torn look like? Just treat him as pity for him to give him some convenience."

The captain said helplessly: "We didn't think we could make a fortune in such a transaction. We could only make some money to subsidize the oil. We traded a lot of things at a fair price. I know he is pitiful, but we can't lose money. You know, we are not philanthropists after all."

Li Du was about to pay for it himself, but Steve stopped him and shook his head and said, "It's not the time."

This was so stupid that Li Du didn't understand, but since Steve stopped him, it must have his intention, and he just waited and watched the changes.

The transaction ended and the villagers left the dock, and many of the items they brought on the boat were not traded out.

Steve asked the captain to offer, check out him and then left the stuff.

Li Du asked, "What does this mean?"

Steve smiled and said, "Help the emergency but not the poor. Man, we will not be on the island for a short time. When the villagers use up all their daily necessities and need it, we will do charity before we can earn more favorable feelings."
