11. Nightmare Time (Part 1)(1/2)

Dreams and reality are two completely different worlds.

Most of the time, their boundaries are as clear as ice and fire.

Except for some life with abnormal mental health or secret techniques, few people confuse dreams with the present world.

But this is not absolute.

Just like everything has special circumstances, when certain conditions are met, dreams and reality will begin to blend.

The two worlds will begin to merge, and some concrete phenomena that only exist in the dream will be released into reality, the perception of life will be distorted, and the world in their eyes will change drastically.

More gorgeous, more psychedelic, and more dangerous.

There are not only beautiful things in the dream, but also dangerous and indescribable monsters.

That's the product of a nightmare.

"ah!"

In a small village in icy and snowy areas in Neforheim, a shrill howl broke the tranquility of the night.

The roar was filled with fear, as if someone had seen the most terrifying creature in the world.

To be honest, in the kingdoms derived from the Tree of the World, Neforheim is not a suitable place to live.

The temperature here is around minus 30 degrees Celsius all year round, just like Jotunheim, a world covered by ice and snow.

Its environment is slightly better than that of Jordonheim, but apart from the barbarians and mountain people in the nine kingdoms, few people choose to live here.

"boom"

The grease-stained torches were lit up, illuminating the village in the dark.

Under the escort of more than a dozen wilderness hunters carrying weapons and horn helmets, the elder in the mountain village kicked open a closed door with an ugly expression.

Soon a strong but fearful villager rushed into the house and dragged the woman who kept roaring out.

"She's crazy..."

Next to the village chief, a priest wearing a hooded hooded and covered with Runes on his face carefully checked the woman who was pressed to the ground by several people.

Her face was twisted, and she could be seen with her naked eyes. She had fallen into a terrifying shadow.

But what is strange is that even if you are extremely frightened, you cannot even maintain your normal thinking and will.

But the woman still closed her eyes tightly while making a roar.

She seemed to be still sleeping, and she was immersed in a nightmare and could not be awakened at all.

"Bang"

The village chief wearing a fur coat and wearing various bone decorations, with a big bald head waved his hand and slapped the roaring crazy man on the cheek.

The slap was very heavy, swelling the crazy woman's cheeks.

But she still failed to wake her up.

"She encountered something terrible in her dream, and she had fallen into a nightmare."

In the torches raying in the cold night around, the young rune wizard whispered to the village chief with a solemn expression:

"This is the 11th..."

The village chief glanced at the crazy woman, and he waved his hand, and soon someone tied the woman's mouth with a rope, making her unable to make that creepy scream anymore.

She was dragged to the edge of the village by several people.

In the barn there, there were trapped dreamers who were as crazy as her.

"What the hell is going on? The Wizard."

The village chief said to the wizard who was invited by his side with a lot of money:

"Is this some kind of disease? a plague, or some kind of evil magic?"

"The plague in the dream has spread."

The young rune wizard said something in a pretentious manner.

He touched his pocket on his waist. After seeing what happened in this small mountain village with his own eyes, he felt that the reward he received this time was a bit hot.

In the border area of the World Tree, few rune wizards will pay attention to it.

Those truly powerful spellcasters are all enjoying life in other worlds with better environments.

Only a second-rate spellcaster who cannot survive in big cities like him will come to this remote countryside for a little reward.

But even so, this young wizard who can only be regarded as a juggler in the eyes of a real rune wizard. He is already an absolute "master" in the unification of Neforheim, a place outside of Neforheim.

People living in this cold world are barbaric and ignorant.

Their hearts are ruled by superstition, which is stupid and easy to deceive.

But until after seeing 11 people in this mountain village who went crazy in two days, the young wizard, who was already full of confidence, realized that what he had to deal with this time was not a small problem such as accidentally eating herbs.

Although he was very panicked, as a liar, he had to show confidence.

Once these mountain people discover the truth, it will be difficult for him to get out of this lonely mountain.

"Ahem"

The young wizard coughed a few times, and turned his head and said to the village chief in a solemn voice:

"Including this poor lady, those 11 people, where have they been in these days?"

The wizard strengthened his tone and asked:

"I mean, they have something in common before going crazy...their symptoms are consistent, and I suspect they are exposed to some mysterious forces that they shouldn't have touched."

The wizard gave a very vague explanation.

But this is always much better than the foolish guessing of a group of terrified foolish women.

The village chief, who was also very panicked, finally had a direction to search. He yelled at the others around him in local dialect.

The best hunters in the village whispered to each other, and in a few minutes, the most eloquent of them told the village chief what they knew.

The village chief turned his head and said to the young wizard whose worries flashed in his eyes:

"Master, I have asked these 11 people, before they started to get sick, had been to the woods..."

"Some people go hunting, some people go picking raspberries, or just hang out."

"Linzi?"

The wizard turned his head in surprise and looked at a forest in the distance.

It was a cold forest, the iconic "landscape" of Neforheim.

The cold frost covered the towering birch forests, outlining a quiet mountain forest.

The wizard knew that these mountain people lived on the resources in these forests. This cold forest was rich enough to provide enough living supplies to dozens of large villages in Neforheim.

Despite the ignorant legends of the mountain people, great and terrifying creatures live in these mountains and forests.

But in fact, as an educated rune wizard, young people knew that there were no dangerous mythical creatures in the mountains.

At the edge of Neforheim, the entrance to the underworld is the entrance to the underworld. No matter how crazy mythical creatures are, they will not live in this ghost place.

The most dangerous thing in this forest is just the werewolf or beasts like Chimera. They dare not attack the strong mountain people alone, let alone such things related to mysterious power...

It's definitely not what those guys did.

"Are there any taboos in the woods you often go to?"

The young wizard asked again.

The village chief shook his head, and he gestured with his fingers:

"We have no powerful warriors in our village, so we will not go deep into the sacred forests."

"But the delicacies produced in the outer forest are enough for us to use. They are gifts from the forests. We follow the guidance of our ancestors and dare not ask for them too greedily."

"And in the woods we often go to, there are not even wild boars, let alone danger."

"But now!"

The rune wizard took out a few rough small stones from his pocket, and there were blue spells on the surface of those small stones.

It was the low-level Lun rune stone, and it was the best magic item he could only make.

"We're going to have a look!"

The young wizard said to the village chief and the strong mountain people:

"Select the strongest people to walk with me, these runes will protect you...we must find what is radiating this nightmare plague."

The young man rubbed his fingers. He planned to pretend to go around the forest and exaggerate the facts.

Frighten these foolish guys so that he can take the opportunity to escape.

But he is quite conscientious.

Before leaving, he said seriously to the village chief:
To be continued...
