39. Heritage and Discovery(1/2)
At midnight, Carol Danvers drove away from Queens alone, dragging his tired body.
The children, Jin Wan, stayed at Mei's house. After losing important people, the families always had to stay together.
Mei was very sad, and she also needed the children to support her.
Carol was also taken away, but she couldn't stay there.
It's not that Carol is unwilling to share her grief with Merlin's relatives, but because she has more important things to do.
Horus's deformed black sedan was moving quietly in the night.
Carol doesn't need to drive, the car will take her to her destination.
In the dim lights in the car, Carol leaned against the driver's seat and looked at the quiet night outside the window. She was very unfamiliar with the city.
Even when she was still living on Earth, she rarely came here.
She knew there was a bar here, where she and Merlin fell in love.
But she doesn't want to go there now.
She felt empty in her heart, as if she had been hollowed out her thoughts. She could do anything slowly and couldn't lift her spirits.
As long as she closes her eyes, the scene of Merlin dying in her arms will appear in her mind, like a nightmare.
"You finally honestly said you love me"
Carol reached out and touched the piece of ice draped with orange light hanging around her neck, and a fleeting tenderness appeared on her face.
She held the uncreeping ice.
She whispered:
“It’s just a little late”
"You just left so easily, but you left everything to me to clean up Merlin. You are really."
"Merlin has always cared about you, Ms. Carol."
Horus, who had been moving forward silently, suddenly spoke:
"I've seen him write to you, and he always has a smile on his face. In other things, it's hard for me to see Merlin's smile."
"Stop talking about it, robot."
Carol sighed, and she curled up in the driver's seat, whispering:
"You said this and it will only make me feel more uncomfortable."
"Say something else, like the stories about Merlin you remember."
"I haven't seen him for more than ten years. He's like the most familiar stranger. Alas, it's unlikely that I'll meet someone like Merlin again in my life."
"Tell me, robot, let me listen."
"All right."
Horus casts a blue projection in front of the bridge, and he whispers:
"If you want to listen to the mistress."
"Um?"
Horus's changing name made Carol smile at the corner of her mouth. She shook her head and said:
"Tell me."
More than ten minutes later, Horus stopped smoothly in front of the mysterious house, and the door automatically opened.
Carol, wearing a long windbreaker and a baseball cap, walked to the door of the mysterious house with a box in his arms.
Before she knocked on the door, the door opened.
Xuanlan, wearing a black and white tuxedo and monocle glasses, stood at the door. Warm lights came from the mysterious house, and a halo was shining behind Xuanlan.
She looked at Carol in front of her, and Carol was also looking at her.
The super perception from Ms. Marvel made Carol realize that what was standing in front of him was not a real life.
And I don’t know if it was an illusion, but Carol always felt that the woman’s cheeks were a little familiar, and she seemed to have a unique relationship with Merlin.
The two women looked at each other, and there seemed to be an invisible aura that spread out, which surprised Horus, who was parked on the roadside.
The car started quietly and drove from the other side into the garage of the mysterious house.
"Hello, Ms. Carol."
After a few seconds, Xuanlan smiled on her face, and she turned slightly and made a "please" position.
She whispered:
"Please come in."
Carol nodded and walked into the mysterious room in front of him.
She walked on the textured carpet and followed Xuan Lan into the hall. Carol sat on the sofa by the burning fireplace.
Xuanlan shook the bell, and soon a ghost servant in medieval clothes delivered refreshments to the guests.
Carol looked at the decoration of the mysterious house, and she felt as if she had walked into a medieval castle. She picked up the tea cup, and the tea in the cup was just right.
After sipping a cup of tea, Carol looked at Xuanlan sitting opposite him.
She said:
"I'll send some stuff."
"Merlin left something, I asked Lorna, and she told me that you are the person Merlin trusted the most, and that you have been taking care of Merlin's private life."
"I haven't been back to Earth for many years, and I don't know much about Merlin's friends and social circles."
"So I think it's best to leave these things to you."
Carol pushed the box in front of him forward and pushed it to Xuanlan's eyes.
The latter opened the box with his fingers wearing white lace gloves. She saw the things in the box. Carol kept observing Xuanlan's expression.
After a few seconds, she couldn't help asking:
“I can feel from what the kids told me that you and Merlin should have a close relationship.”
"Merlin is the owner of the mysterious house and my master. He theoretically has everything I have, and the only purpose of my existence is to serve him, take good care of him, and meet all his requirements."
Xuanlan's tone was calm. She stroked the things in the box while saying without raising her head:
"Will my relationship with Master Merlin bother you? Ms. Carol."
"No."
Carol shook her head, and she sipped the tea.
She said:
"I don't care, I just feel that when you see Merlin's relics, you are a little calmer."
"You're sad just because you call them relics."
Xuanlan picked up the broken wand Lola. She looked at the wand that was damaged by huge energy with regret, and she whispered:
"I won't call that"
"It's just that Master Merlin has put some things in me."
Xuanlan took out the broken bone remains from the box, and the blood-bone cane called "The Power of Saint Van Gonza" shattered into several pieces during the battle.
Fortunately, the most important black skull stick head is still intact.
“I will fix them.”
Xuanlan said:
"Store them in this house and wait for Master Merlin to use them again."
"He's dead"
Carol closed her eyes and said:
"Just die in my arms, I can feel the passing of my soul and the dissolution of my body. He will not come back, Xuanlan."
"That's just your opinion."
The young lady of the spirit continued to gather the things in the box without any concern, and there was no stubbornness in her tone.
But that calm expression represents her indestructible cognition at this time.
She didn't think Merlin was dead.
Xuanlan stood up and shook the bell. Soon a ghost servant brought a special storage box.
She put the broken wand Lora into the box.
Then he picked up a few broken blades with his fingers, and the cold light shone on the blade, which was a fragment of Vlad, the silver sword that Merlin carried with him.
There was also silver-white metal in the box, just like burning, shining with special light under the lights of the mysterious house.
