8. Pierce's Means [13/100]
"Swish"
Kohler opened his eyes suddenly.
What caught my eye was a beauty with long burgundy hair. She was holding a syringe in her hand, as if she had just injected something into his body.
"Who are you! What are you doing?"
Kohler struggled subconsciously, but his hands and body were held tightly by Merlin and Patton on both sides, and he couldn't break free.
"What are you going to do? I am your director! Bastard! Let me go! I order you! Let me go!"
Kohler screamed, his voice filled with fear.
He vaguely remembered that his secretary brought him a cup of coffee. After drinking the coffee, he could not remember anything, and he woke up here until now.
"Koller calm down."
A familiar voice sounded before Kohler's eyes.
Kohler gasped violently, and he looked at the person sitting opposite him in front of him.
It was Alexander Pierce in pajamas, who was holding a glass of wine and looking at him with a gaze that controlled everything. The gloom in that gaze made Kohler feel a little scared.
He knew very clearly what excessive things the people behind him had planned for the guy in front of him.
Now that he has fallen into Pierce's hands, he can guess that he will definitely not have a good ending as long as his IQ is higher than his feet.
Only in this moment of life and death can one clearly see a person's true nature.
Kohler's struggle became violent at this moment, and he was scared, but soon, he stopped struggling again, as if he had been drained of all his strength.
"What do you want to do? Pierce?"
Kohler gritted his teeth and asked:
"Do you want to murder a public official in your home? You can't help but expose your nature and kill your opponent with your own hands? Once and for all, ha? Are you crazy?"
"Adversary? You?"
Pierce burst into laughter, and Merlin next to Kohler laughed out loud.
Kohler is indeed a man with high self-esteem and lack of talent. In this case, he still cannot see his identity clearly.
"Stop kidding, Kohler!"
Pierce put down the wine glass, and he took a stack of photos from Agent Hitville, threw them in front of Kohler, then waved his fingers and signaled Merlin and Patton to let him go.
Kohler picked up the photo, took a look, and then widened his eyes.
In the first chapter, the photo is a coma of him and a green alien.
The second photo shows him with a serious face, directing the agents around him to rush into a military base that seems very important.
The third photo shows him shooting at the base guards at close range.
But that's not him!
Kohler had a cold sweat on his forehead. He could swear that the person who was the same as him in the photo was not him!
"Korle, you are suspected of reaching a secret deal with alien spies who infiltrate the earth, and leak the secrets of the extremely high-secretistical Tenma Plan and the Pagasos base to the Scoru spies, and lead to the secret leak."
Pierce said coldly:
"Because of your incompetence and stupidity, 57 agents were injured, and the archives of the Pagasos base were almost completely destroyed! The indirect losses caused by you are at least more than $30 billion! The losses caused by the leakage of confidential information are immeasurable! You have completely exposed us to the eyes of alien invaders."
"I really sent you to the military court! And this time, you can't escape with sweet words!"
"This is not me!"
Kohler screamed in cold sweat:
"I'm innocent!"
"Oh? Really?"
Pierce picked up a floppy disk on the table and said to Kohler:
"The surveillance video of the Pagasos base probably won't agree to your defense! Kohler, how stupid do you have to be knocked out by the aliens who penetrated into the base? How incompetent do you have to be so that our secret agent academy will be brought and moved by aliens as gardens?"
"I don't want it either."
Faced with the iron evidence that Pierce kept bringing out, Kohler's lips moved, but only spoke of weak arguments. His face became paler and paler, and he knew that he could not deny it.
Although he could argue that the bad things were done by aliens as he did, his identity was the leader of an intelligence organization.
Such a thing happened, and his own disgrace was already the most insignificant loss, which completely proved that he was unable to take the position of the leader at all.
Kohler was sure that Pierce would seize this opportunity and wipe out all the forces he and his in the Strategic Crisis Intervention and Intelligence Logistics Department.
But Pierce didn't do that right away.
On the contrary, he was still receiving him in his private residence. Is this a sign
Is Pierce actually giving him a choice?
Maybe, is giving him a way out?
Kohler is a good at speculation, otherwise he would not have been able to recover in the 1990s after causing such a big mess in the 1960s. In this situation where he has reached a dead end, Kohler's thinking is running wildly, trying to find a way to escape his misfortune.
Kohler looked up and looked into Pierce's eyes. After a few seconds, he seemed to have made up his mind. He couldn't help but put a hint of flattering voice in his tone, and he said:
"So, what should I do?"
"Look, Merlin, this is the real smart man."
Pierce put down his wine glass and praised him. He stood up and walked to Kohler. He patted Kohler on the shoulder and said softly:
"Of course you can safely exit this vortex, Kohler, just a little 'paying' to let us see your sincerity."
"Tell me, talk about things that we are really interested in, such as some of the plans of our old friends in the Ministry of Defense, CIA, the NSA, etc., the secrets you know that can help us turn the situation around."
Pierce's tone was very gentle, like an invisible hand, which moved Kohler's panic, and he said:
"You want to quit this circle, right? Kohler, this circle is so dangerous. You are also in your 50s. Why don't you go back to your hometown in Ohio, put down these disgusting trivial matters and spend your time with your family? But I believe you also know that people like us can never really quit if they keep secrets in their hearts."
Pierce put his finger on Kohler's shoulder, and he was behind Kohler, as if he had pushed hard, he said:
"Share the secrets out, let's bear the weight of those secrets for you. When everything is over, I can guarantee that you can definitely see your little granddaughter grow up alive."
"You know mine, Kohler, I am a person who values feelings and does not have a bottom line like those behind you. I can protect you like I do, as long as you reflect your own value, as long as you are willing to be my friend!"
"The problem is, Kohler"
"Will you?"
"I"
Kohler felt his lips very dry, his throat was as dry as it was on fire, and he urgently needed a glass of wine.
His need seemed to be felt, Merlin stepped forward and said a cup was stuffed into Kohler's hand, and poured him a glass of wine.
Kohler drank the glass of wine with his trembling hands. He reached out and opened the buttons of his collar, and he said:
"I don't know much."
"It's okay, say it, you will be truly free after you say it."
Pierce chuckled, and the old agent knew that Kohler's mental defense had collapsed and he would soon get all the secrets in Kohler's mind.
"Ministry of Defense, I heard some friends say that since the 1990s, they have been trying to find a weird mechanical life. Those lives are hidden in our world, and there are more than one of them."
"I have worked with some agents within CIA. They control the circulation channels of certain controlled products by subverting the regime of small countries. In Afghanistan, there is one of their organizations."
"National Security Agency, I really don't know about this. Their internal organization is very tight, but I've heard of a project they have been secretly supporting since World War II and since President Truman's time."
Kohler looked up and looked at Pierce, he said:
"That project, called"
“The Emperor’s Plan.”
—
That night, Kohler said a lot of things he shouldn't have said, and Agent Hitville, who was in charge of recording, recorded everything he said.
Big guys like Pierce disdained to know those little secrets, so in the second half of the conversation, the big guy took the agents to enjoy a late-night snack in the restaurant next to the hall.
This is the soothing of the chief to the loyal agents who have been born and died.
However, he and Merlin still have some things to say, but these things are not suitable for everyone to know.
"Sir, what is the Tianma plan?"
Merlin stood outside the restaurant and asked Pierce:
"If Fury wants to pull Fus into our camp, he must come up with some convincing evidence. But the documents they found at the Pagasos base are all marginal news. I heard that the Tianma Project was chaired by Mr. Howard and maintained by the Strategic Science Corps, so do you know some inside information?"
"You asked the wrong person, Merlin."
Pierce lit a cigar, and while smoking a cigarette, he lowered his voice and said to Merlin:
"You have never worked with Howard. The gentleman is unruly and always has a sensitive understanding of others. The specific content of the plan he hosts will naturally not be known by anyone other than him."
"But I know where you can find the answer."
Pierce spits out a breath of smoke and says to Merlin:
"Before you set out to support Fury, visit Ms. Carter for me. With the seriousness of the situation, you should get the answer to her. She and Howard are friends for many years. After the end of World War II, they supported each other through the most difficult period. It is said that Howard would not hide anything from her."
"Also, Merlin, after you see Fury, tell him. Let him use all means to maintain the situation."
A solemn light flashed in Pierce's eyes, and he said in a deep voice:
"Although we have an alien in our hands, it takes time to persuade the parliament and the Pentagon to face up to the threat of possible alien wars, not only to take time, but also to luck. Some members of our country's country have nothing else in their minds except votes. It is difficult to persuade them to face up to the cold reality."
The tough old man seemed a little disappointed at this moment, and he said softly:
"This world is always like this, and it always has a life-and-death crisis. Only at the worst moment will they jump up and bite people like an urgent rabbit. This can't continue like this. This world needs protection, it is too fragile. Whether it comes from stars or from the darkness, it can easily subvert the existing order."
Pierce clenched his fists, he looked like an idealist.
He turned to look at Merlin, he looked at him with a look of relief, then reached out and patted him on the shoulder.
"You are a truly excellent young man. In the new order of the future, an excellent young man like you will inevitably have a great future. And that new order, the new order that protects the earth and civilization, will also be completed by excellent soldiers like you and Fury! I believe you can definitely do it!"
"You're a mistake, sir. I just want to do the right thing."
Every time Merlin sees Pierce, the old man will praise him severely, which makes Merlin very embarrassed. But I have to admit that being admired by a big man like this has indeed greatly satisfied the young people's vanity.
Merlin is not a superficial person, but he can indeed feel Pierce value him, not only because he was recruited by Ms. Carter, but also because Merlin had personally gone to danger and rescued Pierce.
Perhaps, as Pierce said, in Merlin, he saw hope for a new order.
But that is the future after all, and now they have more important things to do.
"The time is almost done."
Pierce looked down at his watch and said to Merlin:
"It's time for you to visit Ms. Carter, and I'm going to set off for the Senate. I hope those old stubborn people can face reality this time, the threat from the stars."
"Barton, Natasha and that newcomer Colson, they will wait for you in Fury's safe house, I will equip them with everything they need, and I have only one request, Merlin."
"Try to avoid conflict!"
Pierce said in a deep voice:
Chapter completed!
