24. Merlin. Magic
Merlin didn't know if there was a way for formal wizards to check a person's mind quietly.
But Merlin didn't want to take risks, especially when she was only one step away from what she longed for.
What's more, Merlin learned a very important concept in the courses at the Secret Agent Academy.
Deception is deception, concealment is concealment.
These are two completely different concepts.
An excellent agent must learn to turn a true story into a true lie without any confusion.
Just like now
"I wanted to refuse, but the demon didn't give me the chance to refuse. I could only watch my finger pressing on the contract that I couldn't understand at all. After that, I saved Little Hermione and her mother in an accident caused by me, and then encountered some things and people like you."
"He helped me selflessly, and he also warned me that if I wanted to survive, I had to find wizards who had studied black magic."
Merlin took off the shell pendant on her neck and handed it to Arthur Weasley, who took it in her hand and looked carefully. After a moment, Arthur said to Merlin:
"A very exquisite magical creation of water element, only the effect of purifying magic looks like, is it helping you through the most difficult time?"
"Yes, if it weren't for this thing, I might have died long ago."
Merlin said bluntly:
"I have been relying on it to avoid the bad luck of the darkness for the past few years, and it works very well. But now, this thing is about to lose its effect."
He stretched out his fingers, and after losing the suppression of the shell pendant, the dark smoke floating between his fingers became more and more noisy, like a living thing, screaming to pounce on all the existences around him.
Arthur took out a black magic wand from his arms with disgust. Balls of golden sparks jumped at the top of the wand. With a vague spell, the golden flame hit the scattered smoke like a fist, forcibly pressing it back into Merlin's body.
“It does look very similar to the Shadow of Darkness.”
Mr. Arthur said:
"No wonder little girl Hermione asked me about the Muran a few days ago, but this is not the Shadow of Darkness, Merlin, it has no penny to Moran, it is a sign of the loss of control magic being in chaos. It was born in darkness and its nature is biased towards darkness. It instinctively destroys, corrodes, and even assimilates."
"Bang"
Arthur took out an old wooden box from his handbag, and he placed the box at Merlin's hand, and he said:
"This is a magic textbook I used back then, including Hogwarts' primary textbooks and some necessary tutoring books. It's a little worn, but not damaged. You can use it."
The magician with a good personality stared at Merlin and said:
"Please note, Merlin, I am not deliberately helping you. Like other wizards, I hate all life that has something to do with demons and devils. I just realize the crisis. Once the magic in your body is completely out of control, you will cause a real disaster in the Muggle world. As the writer of the Muggle Protection Act, it is necessary for me to curb this possible disaster in advance. So, if anyone asks about the source of this set of books."
Merlin nodded, he took a deep breath, reached out and placed his hand on the wooden box. He touched the slightly rough box and said to Mr. Arthur:
"I understand, Mr. Arthur."
"You saved my life. I will not expose you anyway. Please believe me."
"Well, if the wise little Hermione is willing to believe you, then I am willing to give you a chance."
Arthur knocked on the table and said to Merlin with some distress:
"What's more, I can't resist my stupid young son and my wife's adolescent teenager. I always have such problems. I promise to others, but if I promise beyond my ability and cannot solve the problem by myself, I can only let my poor father take action."
"I'll give you 2 years, 3 years, I'll give you 3 years."
Mr. Arthur looked at his pocket watch and said to Merlin:
"When the summer vacation in 1995 began, I will recycle this set of textbooks from you. This thing releases magic and cannot be excerpted by a Muggle, let alone copied, so you must imprint your knowledge in your mind as much as possible."
Arthur stood up and tidied up his clothes, he said:
"I also look forward to seeing that those who stand in front of me in three years will be a qualified junior wizard."
"Oh, by the way, if you can, Merlin, you need to prepare yourself a wand, which is a must for the little wizard or even the official wizard to cast spells."
"You can buy it in London's Diagon Alley, the famous Ollivander wand shop, or go to the more dangerous Overturn Alley to exchange for people like your hands with blood, maybe it's more suitable for Overturn Alley."
Mr. Arthur seriously reminded:
"You first find the broken cauldron bar, and I will put the map in the book. Go to the back door of the bar, count three bricks above the trash can, then count two horizontally, and knock three times with your magic wand. Oh, by the way, you don't have a magic wand, so use other magic things."
Speaking of this, Mr. Arthur smiled and said:
"Many people think that Diagonal Alley can only be opened with a magic wand. It's just a tradition used by old wizards to deceive young wizards. In fact, anything with magic can open it."
"I hope you can use your power carefully and not become a dark wizard. I don't want to see your name on the wanted list of the Ministry of Magic. The most important thing is not to let your little Hermione be disappointed if you do your best or even make mistakes!"
Arthur chuckled, and waved to Merlin, and he said:
"Little Hermione has a group of friends with great potential. Trust me, if you let her down, someone will teach you a lesson for me."
"Thank you, Mr. Arthur, for your help I will never forget. If you need it, Mr. Arthur, I will do my best to help you and your friends."
Merlin thanked the official wizard again. He handed his contact information to the wizard in front of him, and said:
"Just make this call, no matter where I am, I will come immediately."
Arthur looked down at the string of numbers. He didn't think he would have trouble and needed Merlin's help, but a qualified gentleman would not refuse others' sincere thanks.
He put away the note, waved his wand in front of Merlin, threw a ball of light on the bartender Jitter who had witnessed it all, and then turned around and left.
Watching Mr. Arthur leave the horse bar, Merlin tightly held the wooden box in his hand, like the best treasure, and placed the box in his backpack. He glanced behind him, the bartender with a dull and confused face. He shook his head, pressed down a piece of money under the wine glass, and picked up the sleepy Crook Mountain, turned around and left.
After Merlin left, Bartender Jitter, who was released by Mr. Arthur, was like a dream awake. He looked at the empty bar with a blank look, but completely forgot everything that had just happened.
He put away the banknotes in front of him, scratched his scalp with some headaches, and then began to wipe the bar as before.
Later that day, Merlin returned to the hotel in Brighton.
He poured Crook Hill a bag of carefully selected cat food, then walked into the room, closed the door, placed the wooden box on the bed in a pilgrimage manner, and opened it.
There was a worn-out book in the box, not a printed product, but it looked more like a handwritten dictionary.
There is a thick cover, which should be made of some kind of fur. There are many broken gaps and some weird stains on the cover. It seems that many people have used it, but Merlin doesn't care.
He knew that the book, which was not astonishing and even a little sloppy, represented mysterious knowledge.
It is life-saving knowledge.
He took the book out of the box. He originally thought that there was only this book in this small box, but after picking up one, there was another one. Merlin kept taking out books of all sizes. It was not until almost 20 books were piled around him that the wooden box was really empty.
It was not until this time that Merlin knew why Arthur had to give him three years to memorize this knowledge.
Because there are too many
Even if these large and small dictionaries are just browsing them all at will, it will probably take a week. If you have to study them carefully, three years will not be enough.
Merlin is a novice after all, and magic is probably not enough to rely solely on rote memorization.
He picked up a book called "Black Magic Primary Defense Science" and turned the first page, and was dizzy by the densely packed special symbols in front of him.
Although it is still written in letter form, it is obvious that the language used by wizards is very different from modern English. Some are like the writing style of Shakespearean era. They are not only obscure, but also many special terms that are not clear and sharp.
A layman can’t even understand it if he learns it.
Merlin sighed in disappointment, and he knew that this would not be so easy. No power would come so easily.
"Learn the basics first."
Merlin searched through the dictionaries and finally found a book marked with enlightenment books. The title page of the book was painted with a phoenix flying in flames, and the name of this book was also very interesting.
"Where are the magical creatures?"
Merlin read the name and felt that he was not reading a magical book, but rather reading a fantasy novel written by wizards. He placed the other books in that mysterious wooden box and placed the box in his backpack.
He lay on the bed and opened the book.
"Magic creatures are part of magic, perhaps the most important part of the origin of magic. Any wizard should know them and treat them well - Newt Scarmander, the fantasy beast erudition, and the second-level magic wizard of the Sir Merlin."
This is the message of this book, and it seems to be the advice of an amazing wizard.
Turning on the first page, a picture of a strange animal appeared on the page in front of Merlin.
This picture is weird. It is not fixed and stereotyped. It can move, just like a small movie etched in a book. As Merlin reads the materials, the picture is like a creature like a little tree man, and it will continue to move, even jump.
It appears vivid.
"Well, magical means."
Meilin turned to the next page with interest. It was another new magical animal, and the author also thoughtfully noted some explanations of professional terms below the information.
This should be for the young wizards who have just entered school to arouse their interest in magic.
What a clever way of education.
This book about the magical beasts is a place for fun. Merlin unknowingly saw it at midnight. It was not until Crook Mountain jumped onto the bed with dissatisfaction and asked Merlin for a midnight snack that he realized that he had been reading it for almost 4 hours in a row.
Merlin reached out and touched Crook Mountain's head, then put the book aside, got up and prepared not much food for the kitten. He didn't want the fat cat to gain weight again.
After returning to the room, Merlin did not continue reading the book. He picked up another introductory textbook and found the information he wanted.
"Generally speaking, a magic wand is like a long sword and a soldier for a wizard. Using a suitable wand can allow the magic power in the wizard to run smoother, and different wands will also have an amplification effect on different magic. According to the famous wand maker Mr. Ollivand I, the wand will choose the master, not the master chooses the wand."
"But the little wizards need to note that although the wand is very useful when casting spells, a qualified wizard should also have the ability to release magic when there is a lack of a wand. Although doing so will reduce the effect of the magic and put more pressure on the body, casting spells without a wand is an emergency measure that wizards must master."
“That is,”
Merlin blinked, and he looked at his hands that were emitting dark magic power:
"In theory, can I use magic now?"
Thinking of this, Merlin opened the real magic book with great enthusiasm, which was a magic book called "Standard Spells. Elementary", edited by the wizard Miranda Goshak, and it was full of primary and simplest magic spells.
But 30 minutes later, Merlin lay back on the bed with a tired look on his face.
He tried more than a dozen spells, but none of them succeeded. He rubbed his painful forehead hard and said softly:
"This thing is even more troublesome than calculus. The flow of magic is unruly. Without the assistance of a magic wand, spells cannot form a magic model. Are those formal wizards all monsters?"
"Forget it, let's go to bed first."
Merlin closed his eyes and for the first time he had been forced to accept the devil's contract until now, he slept so peacefully and peacefully for the first time.

Hope has been held in his hands, like the light that illuminates the dark road.
