12. Western Reporter Clark (Part 1)(2/2)
"Are you afraid of giving birth to a kryptonian baby?"
Meilin leaned on the chair, he raised his legs and said leisurely:
"But there is nothing wrong with this. To be honest, I can understand your parents' concerns... If my son is almost 25 years old, but has never even talked about a relationship, and has never touched the girl's hands, and has not slandered all the women around me, then I will start to think about it. Does he dislike women? Is his baby son a gay or something?"
He glanced at Clark and said:
"Martha is a sincere Catholic, and it's really normal for her to have such concerns. Seriously, if you want to soothe your parents' hearts, I can send a female agent to disguise herself as your girlfriend... This is the easiest way to deal with it."
"No, I don't want to lie to them."
Clark pulled his straw hat down and covered his face, he said:
"I'm a little annoyed. Maybe taking this opportunity to leave home and go out for a look is a good choice. But you also know that I just graduated from high school and have never been to college. If I had to find it myself, it would be difficult to find a job that would reassure my parents, so I can only ask you."
"For a lunatic like you who can finish reading in 10 minutes and understand "A Brief History of Time", a doctorate is just a joke."
Merlin shrugged, and he said:
"But if you have made up your mind, I will help you, and it's not difficult. But Clark, what I'm even more curious is that I have given you a year to think, and I haven't intervened in your thinking. I think that one year is enough."
"How are you thinking about another invitation from me?"
"Avengers?"
Clark lay on the hillside, letting the sun shine on his body, he stroked the head of the puppy who was shaking his head and tail, and he said:
"Well, I'll join. You said, that's a loose organization, and it will only gather when something bad happens, right?"
"Um."
Merlin used Icarus to search for current jobs in New York City and replied:
"Most of the time, you are very idle, and you can live your life freely. Speaking of which, do you have any requirements for your new job?"
“No requirement.”
Clark took off his straw hat and threw it aside, saying to Merlin:
"As long as it suits me."
"Yeah, let me see."
Job information flashed one after another on the lens in front of Merlin, and after a few minutes he seemed to have found a suitable job, he said to Clark:
"You can hear the sound of a city. You are not afraid of being threatened. You still have a sense of justice. The most important thing is that you run very quickly and can arrive at the scene as soon as possible... Well, this position is very suitable for you."
"What?"
Clark looked at Merlin, who projected the information of that job into the air with stereoscopic projection, and he said to Clark:
"The Planet Daily is recruiting reporters recently, and I think you can give it a try."
"Reporter..."
Clark carefully said with a difficult face:
“But it requires a bachelor’s degree in journalism…”
"It's okay."
Merlin patted Clark on the shoulder and said:
"I will help you 'modify' your resume, and I can guarantee that you will definitely be admitted."
"However, you need to sort out your image first. You need a suit and a device that can change your face. Maybe a pair of glasses is good, similar to my style. Well, your face shape is more suitable for black-framed glasses, which can make you look more stable... In short, you go and say goodbye to Old Kent and Martha first, and leave the rest to me."
Merlin stood up and said to Clark:
"It'll be nice to go to work at Planet Daily tomorrow morning."
"Oh, by the way, since you have joined the Avengers, the necessary training has to be on the schedule. Just so, there is an elderly person who needs to start resuscitation training, you can come together."
