24. The past is like smoke. The old house(2/2)

Merlin smiled, and he said meaningfully:

"In this world, there has never been absolute freedom, you won't understand this, right?"

"That's your rule."

Ruiwen said stubbornly:

“Not ours.”

"Then I'll find a way to create one for you."

Merlin let go of her hand and patted Riven on the shoulder, and he said:

"If you don't like this system, then make a prerequisite for you to like is that don't try to fight or destroy it, that will not do us any good."

"Riwen's rules can coexist, but I doubt whether a paranoid person like you will understand this."

Merlin seemed to feel impatient with the topic, and waved his hand and continued to walk towards the castle in front of him, he said:

"Mutants have no culture, no inheritance, no system, no rules, this is your most deadly weakness. The professor has been trying to make a rule for you, but Magnit has been destroying it. Who is right? Who is wrong?"

Merlin had a sarcastic smile on his face, and he said:

"You think about this question yourself. After all, this is your own problem with you mutants and it has nothing to do with me. Let's change the topic, Ms. Riven, I heard that this was your home once. You spent the best decade of your life in this castle, right?"

"Um."

Riven followed Merlin, she had given up fighting against the energy attached to her body.

As a knowledgeable mutant, Riven knew that this was an effect similar to magic. Only magic can fight against magic, and only energy can destroy energy. Her melee skills are very good, and melee combat is not necessarily weaker than Merlin, but she is not good at magic.

"Tell me."

Merlin took Raven across the lawn under the night, and he said:

"I'm a little curious about the stories between you and the professor, and McGnitt. I heard that you are still in a weird love triangle relationship? The separation between the professor and McGnitt is said to have something to do with you, too?"

"Who did you hear the rumor?"

A hint of discomfort flashed across Ruiwen's face, and she said:

"All of them are nonsense."

"The break between Charles and Eric is purely a disagreement of ideas and has nothing to do with me. As for the relationship between me and Charles, it is indeed very complicated."

Raven sighed and said:

"To be honest, I don't know what kind of relationship it is. Maybe, there may be love."

"Tell me."

Merlin slowed down, he said:

"It's about 5-10 minutes away from entering the castle, which is enough to tell a story, right?"

"Why should I tell you?"

Raven said:

"Will you be excited to spy on other people's privacy? You are so perverted!"

"I just want to hear the story."

Merlin said calmly:

"Don't look at my smirk now, that doesn't mean I won't force my memory, nor does it mean I won't turn you into a fool. To be honest, I'm in a bad mood now, you'd better not mess with me, Ms. Riven."

"If your story is exciting enough, maybe I will consider reducing your sentence. After all, you didn't hurt anyone, you just stole something you shouldn't have stolen."

"Tell me, don't make trouble for yourself."

Ruiwen felt the impatientness in Merlin's words, and she breathed a sigh of relief and said softly:

"I came to Charles' house when I was 10 years old. It was one night. I was cold and hungry. I was left by my parents on the roadside. It was natural. After all, no one would like a freak with blue skin and horny skin."

Her tone was calm, as if she was telling someone else's story.

"I ran into the Charles House manor. I had never seen such a beautiful house before. When I first came in, I felt ashamed that this was not the place where people like me should come. Anyway, I sneaked into the Charles House kitchen, and I found a few pieces of hard bread, and I hid in the corner to eat."

Riven looked at the castle in front of her and said:

"I was about the same age as Lorna at that time. I was afraid that others would evaluate my appearance. I was like many mutants at that time, and I hated my ability. But Charles was not the one who would hate me."

"I finished my bread and wanted to leave the warm castle, but when I turned around, I saw Charles, who was about the same age as me, wearing pajamas and holding a baseball bat taller than him."

Speaking of this, Riven seemed to remember the past, she smiled, and she said:

"He was cute, with blond hair, like a doll. He just held the bat and looked at me. We were all frightened. I wanted to run away, but I was stopped by Charles."

"He took me to the restaurant and asked the servant to make me a warm dinner."

Raven closed her eyes and she whispered:

"That's what I've eaten in my life, and the most delicious food is also the beginning of the story of Charles and I for a lifetime."

"Bang"

Just after Riven finished saying this, the castle door was pushed open in front of her and Merlin.

Sitting in a wheelchair, the professor in his pajamas stopped at the door. Under the slightly dim light, his old face was filled with a warm smile, exactly the same as the smile of the child who accepted her decades ago in Riven's memory.

The professor looked at Riven in the distance, and his voice rang in Riven's mind the next moment.

Very gentle and very warm.

“Welcome home”

"Riwen."

Meilin felt the mood of the demon-shaped woman beside him change for a moment. He turned around and saw unstoppable tears flowing from Riven's eyes, like a wanderer who had been away from home for too long, finally returning to the warm home.

oh

Merlin nodded slightly.
