11. Ghost Girl【86/100】(1/2)

The living ghost.

Merlin's description is a bit weird and conflicting.

The ghost itself refers to the soul of a dead person. After the magic power, it avoids the result of the disappearance and then continues to exist in the world in the form of a spirit body.

There are many types of ghosts.

There are the most common earth-bound spirits, the resentful spirits who lose their minds, and the rare ghost spirits who retain complete wisdom and memory, and even rich emotions.

Finally, it is the most rare Holy Spirit, which is full of positive energy and can even condense the energy body.

But there is no ghost that can be called "living".

The "living" that Merlin calls refers to a creature with flowing vitality that can be seen by his spiritual vision.

But ghosts do not have the saying that vitality is there.

Merlin transformed into black fog and landed in an explosion sinkhole of more than 10 meters deep with Hill. Looking up from the bottom of the sinkhole, the place seemed to be like a mysterious sinkhole.

The shock wave generated by the explosion destroyed most of the buildings in the laboratory, but Merlin could feel that there were still some things in the ruins in front of him, and they were constantly emitting energy to the outside world.

"The explosion probably did not destroy all the equipment made by Elias Starr."

Merlin said to Hill:

"Something may have survived."

"What I'm more worried about now is the 'living ghost' you said."

Agent Hill stood beside the shadow of the pit, and she looked back from time to time, holding the Geiger counter in her left hand and a pistol full of sacred silver bullets in her right hand, looking nervous.

She said to Merlin:

"Don't find it yet? Sir."

"No."

Merlin frowned and replied that his sense of darkness had spread to the entire laboratory pit, but the previous perception of life that had passed away seemed to have truly disappeared at this moment.

The pit was so quiet that Merlin had to wonder if he had read it wrong just now.

He kept his vigilance and said to Hill:

"Let's go and see the devices that are still running. That should be what Fury needs."

"OK."

Hill responded, followed Merlin and walked towards the small piece of ruins that had only survived the explosion. I don’t know if it was an illusion or a strange feeling caused by Merlin’s words. In short, Hill always felt that something was following them behind him.

This feeling made this ghost-fearing girl feel extremely bad.

Fortunately, she was surrounded by SHIELD's most senior supernatural affairs officer. She couldn't help but take a few steps and approach Merlin, following Merlin in a row, which made Agent Hill feel more secure in fear.

The lab ruins miraculously preserved in the previous explosion were not big. A few minutes later, Merlin and Hill found the thing that kept emitting faint energy.

It was a weird instrument half buried in the ruins.

It looks like a weird experimental cabin made of metal and glass. The glass used for sealing the door has melted in the explosion, and the main body of the metal structure has been severely twisted and torn, but the internal structure of the cabin can be vaguely seen.

It is like an enlarged version of a honeycomb, with the metal wall inside it filled with small hexagonal squares, reflecting a golden light under the illumination of Hill's hand-held flashlight.

And judging from the remaining and burnt wires and devices inside the torn metal, this thing must be part of the precision equipment that Dr. Elias Starr did the quantum entanglement test before.

But neither Merlin nor Hill know much about this kind of high-tech stuff. They don’t know what the honeycomb cabin is for.

“It has been down.”

Merlin placed his finger at the gap in the twisted metal cabin, and he said without looking back:

"But it is still emitting some kind of energy that I have never seen before. It's strange that we should move this thing back. Maybe S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists will tell us what this thing is for."

He withdrew his finger and looked back at Hill, and the moment Merlin turned around, the faint wave of life that he felt before appeared again, and it was next to Hill.

"Do not!"

Merlin shouted sharply, and his body suddenly turned into black mist and rushed towards Hill. The latter's reaction was also very fast. The girl rolled to the side. The rolling black mist almost wiped Hill's body and rushed into the shadow behind her. There, a small figure seemed to be frightened.

The little girl in a dress and emitting a strange white light.

She let out a rapid scream, and she disappeared strangely again before the black mist of Merlin touched her.

Merlin's black fog pounced on the air, and his figure was just waiting for the little girl to see something. He looked around and frowned.

There is no life force in the dark perception, but the figure just now is real! Merlin is sure that it is not a ghost, it is a real, living little girl, but what is going on with her weird invisibility?

"Sir, what was that just now?"

In the moment just now, Hill also saw the little white girl standing behind her. Her strange shape reminded Hill of many bad memories, and her face turned pale.

She looked around and asked in a low voice:

"Is that really a ghost?"

"No, she is not."

Merlin closed her eyes and constantly strengthened her sense of darkness, and he replied softly:

"You are an ordinary person, Hill, you can't see the ghost. If you can see her, it means that she is not a ghost."

"So, that's actually a kid?"

Hearing Merlin denied the ghost's speculation, Hill's expression suddenly became relaxed. As long as it was not something that was a god or a ghost, she would not be afraid.

She held the pistol and walked to Merlin, looking around with the vigilant attitude a good agent should have.

A few minutes later, Merlin opened his eyes and shook his head:

"No, I can't feel it. The child is a little weird. She seems to be playing hide-and-seek with us on purpose."

"If it's really a child, sir."

Hill thought for a while, she put away her pistol and said to Merlin:

"It's possible that she was frightened, let me deal with it."

Hill stood in the shadows, and she took a deep breath to calm her mood. After a moment, she spoke to the empty darkness in front of her in the gentlest voice:

"Child, we know you're here. Come out, we won't hurt you, we're here to help."

Hill kept calling and persuading the little girl she couldn't see.

Merlin stood aside, and he also showed the gentlest expression, but he did not relax. The darkness perception was like a radar, covering the ruins tightly, and he could feel any movement at the first time.

"pain"

Just as Hill made his third call, a faint voice came from behind the two of them.

Merlin and Hill turned around at the same time and saw a little girl with long black hair and a small white dress curled up in the corner of the metal cabin they had discovered before.

She was as if she was frightened, and she squatted there, holding her shoulders with her hands, looking at Hill and Merlin with a pitiful, wounded beast-like look.

The expression on her face was painful, she whispered:

"It hurts so much and help me."

The little girl's figure is very illusory, like a legendary ghost, and it feels like there is no entity.

But she really exists.

After she appeared on the initiative, Merlin saw the strange life activities in her body. It was like a flowing between existence and non-existence. The flow of vitality was like a candlelight in the wind, which could be extinguished at any time, but it was also very tenacious. In that turbulent fluctuation, she tried hard to maintain her own existence.

"Don't be afraid, kid."

Hill stretched out her hand and signaled that she had no malice. She slowly approached the little girl. As she was gaze, Hill squatted in front of her. The agent girl stretched out her hand and tried to touch the pitiful little girl's head.

But her hand stretched out, in a strange posture, "worn" from the little girl's head.

It was as if it was in front of her, just a very realistic and lifelike three-dimensional projection.

"this"

Hill hurriedly retracted her hand, and she looked back at Merlin with some at a loss. Merlin stood beside the little girl, and he observed her carefully. After a moment, he said to Hill:

"The child's cells are constantly tearing, and then new cells are constantly born. Her body is actually annihilated, but the constantly reborn cells represent that she is still 'living'. It's such a strange state between living and death."

Merlin squatted down, and he looked at the little girl who kept crying in pain in front of him, and asked softly:

"Child, tell me, what's your name? How did you become like this?"

"Ava, my name is Ava Starr."

The little girl looked at Merlin, she endured the pain and said softly:

"I'll come to see my dad do the experiment. He told me and my mom that his experiment was successful and he was going to celebrate, but in the laboratory, sparks emerged from that big machine, very beautiful and bright sparks. Dad and other uncles were frightened."

The little girl recalled her previous memories, and she said intermittently:

"Dad asked my mom to take me away, but I didn't want to leave my dad behind. Mom ran back with me, and Dad asked me to hide in the glass house."

She pointed to the twisted, honeycomb-like metal cabin beside her, and she said:

"I saw flames coming out of the big machine, the flames like sunlight, very hot and bright, illuminating the entire laboratory with huge sounds, like an explosion."

"When I wake up"
