Interlude - Shadow of the Ark

While Lehman was planning his night ambush plan, on the blue planet, countless kilometers away from him, the home planet of mankind, Major General Alexey Stukov was about to leave his office and go home. His office was located in the building of the heavily guarded and restricted General Staff of the Earth Army, and was not a place where he was happy to spend his time after get off work.

The predecessor of the Earth United Army was the scattered armies of various countries on the earth, but after a series of chaos and wars, the human army was able to form a big alliance in name, with the purpose of unifying and coordinating the hostile behaviors that humans may cope in the universe, and coordinating the original armies of each country to avoid any fatal friction on the road to the great development of the universe. This loose structure eventually evolved into the existing Earth United Army after the initial series of colonial plans was severely frustrated.

The General Staff of the United Army is a very powerful institution. This powerful institution is located deep in a mountain in East Asia on Earth. Because it is surrounded by mountains, it is nicknamed "Stone Fort" by the employees who serve him.

As Alexey Stukov indented some confidential documents he was reading before leaving get off work into the safe, Paboro Vavwanka, one of his assistants, walked into the office anxiously, and he put a non-networked data terminal on Stukov's desk:

"Major General Stukov, this is a very important piece of information. Please check it out for yourself."

A trace of haze flashed quickly between Stukov's eyebrows and eyes. The reports sent to him should generally be a summary of real specific intelligence. According to the system of the United Army, these military intelligence will be sent to various departments of the General Staff Intelligence Department, and will be sorted and classified by the department, and then decided according to the priority level whether to present it to the superior for review.

However, the information in front of him has obviously not been "unpacked", so this kind of information sent directly to him is definitely not good news.

After opening the terminal and taking a simple look, Stukov sat up straight, and he raised his head and said politely to his subordinates:

"I got it, you can go out."

Paboro immediately turned around and left, and Stukov immediately got up after the door was closed, and walked to the wall to open the secret room of the room. This cold secret room was protected by two meters thick armored plates, and was a place where some of the most confidential plans Stukov was responsible for. The computers here were completely uninterrupted and did not receive any external signals. Only the owner of this office could open it.

Stukov opened the computer and opened a document. The avatar of Scarter Obannon, a former criminal tycoon in the Kopru Star District, was clearly written under the tycoon's avatar: Scarter Obannon-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ark Plan is a secret outpost plan designated by the United Army to control the Kepru Star Zone. The core of this plan is to use a technology called "Stand-in [Avatar]" to collect intelligence personnel in advance for military operations that the United Army will carry out on a certain day in the future.

At some time in the 25th century, scientists on Earth successfully loaded massive amounts of information on the waveform of the laser beam to complete deep space transmission. Through this technology, scientists on Earth successfully loaded the human brain consciousness on a powerful X-laser beam, a laser with a wavelength smaller than atoms, emitted to the depths of the universe and completed transition transmission.

This laser beam contains all the information needed to reorganize a conscious person. Once it arrives at the destination, it will be received by a host in the automated receiving station that was pre-transmitted past, converted into corresponding data, control programs, and then allow people on the earth to "awaken" on a distant planet within a pre-prepared "stand-in".

Relying on this substitute bionic man, the United Army laid countless nails without knowing the Tron Federation. Scarter Obannon is one of them. After contacting a bionic man (a officer on earth), this crime tycoon finally surrendered to the United Army after witnessing a series of advanced technologies and powerful military power in the hometown of mankind.

As a reward, Obannon was guaranteed to receive a high-level position after the United Army (UED) conquered the star zone in the future like the Doomsday ticket on Noah's Ark, but also received the transformation of nanotechnology secretly launched by the Earth and the electronic transformation of his brain, allowing him to launch his consciousness in times of crisis to achieve the ultimate "life-saving".

But now this piece is ruined, and according to the information, Obannon did not successfully "survive". He was disturbed in the final stage of consciousness launch and did not transmit consciousness intact--thinking of this Stukov curled his lips and smiled. The other party had already conveyed enough information and intelligence to fail to preserve his consciousness. It was a pity, haha.

Stukov sat down and found that one of them left the deepest impression in Obannon's consciousness, which made him a little creepy. He walked out of the secret room and connected a communication. After a while, he appeared in front of Stukov who had already lit a cigarette in a three-dimensional projection. Stukov frowned when he saw the other party's sloppy look:

"Dr. Shimada, I have a question. The highest rating among the psychic plan you are currently in charge is level 10, right?"

Shinji Shinji Shinji, the army scientist in charge of the expansion and research of some psychic forces in the united army nodded, but then hesitated to raise his hand and make a gesture of [You stop first, I want to discover], and answered cautiously:

"This grading is not an objective grading, not a scientific unit of measurement. It just sets the highest level of force we currently know to 10, and then decreases to zero bit by bit. Therefore, it is theoretically possible to actually have more than 10 levels of force."

"Sorry, Doctor," Stukov raised his hand and interrupted Shimada, "In theory?"

Shinji Shinji's virtual image pushed his glasses and answered a little hesitantly:

"Yes, theoretically, the reason for saying this is that all means have been exhausted and there is no way to go further in terms of psychic power. So we can only say that the theoretically more powerful psychics exist, but in practice it..."

"Then, Doctor" Stukov recalled the combat scenes of Kerigan in Obannon's memory in the intelligence, "Can the army psychics you are responsible for, the strongest of them, be able to distort the light with the assistance of equipment to achieve stealth effect?"

"Of course this can be done, even mentally interfering with the people around you to achieve a more advanced stealth effect."

When Stukov heard Shimada say this, he let out a long sigh, but soon, details about Lehman appeared in his head in Obannon's memory, so he asked again:

"So doctor, can psychic energy make people produce brute force enough to break the armored alloy of the battleship in an instant?"

When Shimada heard Stukov's question, he was stunned at first, and then his face twisted, obviously suppressing his smile. After a while, Shimada explained under Stukov's unhappy gaze:

"General, the strengthening of psychic energy for the body is not like that. What you just said falls within the scope of genetic engineering."

"So, can the psychic energy form a shield that resists laser light in an instant?"

To be honest, this question is obviously more nonsense to ordinary people than [breaking the warship armor with empty hands], but after hearing this, Shimada began to think seriously. After a while, he answered Stukov seriously with a smile different from the previous one:

"Theoretically, it is possible that the essence of laser is still light, just like sunglasses changing color to offset part of the spectrum. If the psychic energy is strong enough, it may not only distort visible light, but also offset the irradiation of high-energy laser beams. But with current technology and human psychic energy, it is too difficult. At least we do not have this technology, maybe aliens have it..."

Hearing Shimada say this, recalling the information that Lehman directly used a shield to block the laser in the information, Stukov couldn't help but raise his right hand and pinch his eyebrows, sorted out his thoughts before throwing out his last question:

"So, Doctor, is it possible for psionic energy to be directly used as a weapon of destruction, to produce an effect similar to high-temperature fuse, just like cutting metal like high-temperature cutting?"

After hearing this question, Shimada couldn't help it. He burst out laughing. He suppressed his laughter and waved his hand under Stukov's black face:

"Sorry, General, you are talking about science fiction, not scientific research, that's impossible. Well, at least there is absolutely no possibility that humans can use psychic energy to achieve this effect."

"I understand, thank you for your hard work, Doctor."

After a politeness at last, Stukov immediately cut off the communication. He was so dazzled that he didn't notice that there was a cigarette that had just been lit on the ashtray and then lit another one. In the clouds, the information extracted from the memory sent by Obannon repeatedly appeared in his mind--Although Shinji Shimada was a pervert, his knowledge and technology level was real. He said it was impossible, but UED's current psychic technology could not be done.

So how did Kepru do it? Could it be that these people have become new humans after they are free from the shackles of gravity?!

Stukov thought about it again, and then, as if he had made up some decision, he opened the stereo projection communication and sent a message to his superior and good friend.

When Stukov's correspondence arrived, General Gerald Dugal had just swung a hard shot. The general who was not very good at golf shot a stinky ball, and almost knocked down the projection robot that flew over. Then, when sparse applause came from the crowd of politicians around him, Stukov's projection appeared beside Dogal.

Seeing the image of his friend, Dugal pulled up the serving and threw the club at the caddie not far away. While smiling at Stukov, he began to strode out.

The next player's serve came. Dugal clapped symbolically while dealing with the joke of "General, will you stop fighting?", and asked his old friend what happened with a sharp look like a falcon. Stukov briefly said through the video exchange that needed to be discussed privately, Dugal no longer paid attention to the politicians around him.

The UED general crossed the continuous grassland and came to a very grand building and walked in, and ordered the waiters inside to arrange a secret room--a club used by the military to entertain some special people. It was also considered that he had prepared for emergency military affairs early in the morning, but this was the first time he had been activated.

After a while of turmoil, Dugal was finally the only one in the room facing Stukov's three-dimensional image communication. The general unbuttoned his collar and asked:

"My good Alexei, you are not busy in the stone fort, what is the urgent matter to come to me?"

"The Ark Plan has a new situation" Stukov said concisely.

When he heard the ark, Dugal's spirit suddenly became as nervous as if he was given a stimulant. As the Earth Blade that had been monitoring the progress of Koplu, the UED's general knew the Ark Plan with a high level of confidentiality in intelligence collection. Dugal, who knew the importance of intelligence to any possible military operation, naturally did not dare to underestimate the news from this plan:

“Accelerating or lagging?”

This is a question that sounds like a code word, but it is actually just a concise statement between two old friends. The Admiral wants to ask whether this intelligence may further promote military operations against Kipru or reduce priorities for Kipru.

Stukov's answer is also very simple:

"accelerate."

Stukov had no doubt at all. He was sure that once this information reached the top, it would definitely accelerate military operations.

Dugall breathed a sigh of relief. He actually did not support the use of force against Kopru, because it was almost impossible to cross such a long distance, and the dispatched fleet would face great risks. But since his old friend said that, he had to prepare early, because most of the leaders of the Expeditionary Force were left without running.

"So tell me what happened Alexei?"

Stukov quickly and accurately retelled the key points of the information sent back by Obannon. After listening to it, Dugall also understood why his old friend said that this information would definitely accelerate the advancement of the expedition plan - humans actually had such a powerful change in the distant star area, which was definitely something that the upper class would not ignore.

Moreover, humans' means of conquering the starry sky have always been relying on the progress of science and technology. Another meaning of the application of scientific and technological progress in military technology is mass production, because no weapon is produced for the purpose of non-mass production. Dugal feels that since the humans of Kopru can create such perverts, who knows how long will they create a group of perverts in the future?

"Gerard, I think some of the tactics we drafted need to be adjusted."

"I know, Alexey, let's have supper tomorrow. I'll ask Helena to prepare well. Tomorrow, I think I'll think about it and send an inspection notice to the general equipment department."

After hanging up the communication, Gerald Dugall was deeply trapped in the chair. He grabbed a cigarette from the chimney at hand and lit it. After smoking, he grabbed the communicator at hand:
