Chapter 922 Under the nuclear shadow

Just after the New Year in 1947, the Soviet capital Moscow suddenly became alert. Soldiers with guns and ammunition could be seen everywhere in the city, reaching the level of three steps and one whistle in five steps. Even so, the Moscows did not fall into a depressing and panic atmosphere. They either stopped on the street or leaned out from the windows on the street. Staff in military coats distributed small green, white and yellow flags from door to door. The prominent locations in the main blocks were already full of the Soviet Union's red flags and the green, white and yellow flags of Ireland.

In the bright sunshine, a series of black cars drove into the Red Square through Tver Street under the escort of several military tricycles, and then passed through the Red Square to enter the Kremlin. In one of the Irish-made "free" bulletproof cars, Xia Shu quietly looked at the street scene outside through the single-sided translucent window glass. The Red Square in sight is still the way it looks in memory. The red stars on the top of the Kremlin are still there, but "Soviet Russia" and "Soviet Russia" are not just a difference in title. Today, the Soviet Union has only inherited part of the territory of the old Tsarist Russia. Ukraine, which has abundant resources and Belarus with lush vegetation, were both separated at the end of World War I, and have survived as an independent country for more than 20 years. It is no longer realistic to take it back.

Although the territory has shrunk, the strength and strength of this combat nation are not discounted at all. Today, the actual leader of the Soviet Union is deeply loved by people from all walks of life and has a good international reputation. During his 15 years in power, the Soviet Union successfully implemented the 4th, 5th and 6th five-year plans. The degree of agricultural modernization and industrial mobility continued to improve, the infrastructure such as medical care, education, and transportation was significantly improved, the country's appearance was completely renewed, the scale and quality of the national defense and military industry were also greatly improved, and the Japanese-Soviet War from 1942 to 1944 showed the world the ability and strength of the Soviet army to adapt to modern warfare.

During the Tsarist Russian era, Natsuki visited St. Petersburg several times and left a deep impression on it. This was his first time since the establishment of the Soviet regime. He became the fourth European monarch to visit the Soviet Union after King Gustav V of Sweden, King Frederick William I of Latvia and King Edward VIII of England. This visit was nominally a polite response to Soviet-Russian Prime Minister Bubnov's three visits to Ireland. In fact, it was a mediator for the sudden tense Soviet-German relations. For several months, Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire have joined forces to carry out a major purge on the revolutionary organizations in the Polish region. The Soviet Union provided military assistance to the underground resisters of Poland for various reasons. In the case of unfavorable progress of the purge, the German side attributed a large part of the responsibility to the German side.

Because the Soviet Union aided the Polish volunteers and weapons and equipment, and put diplomatic pressure on the Soviet Union, the Soviet government made it clear that aid to Poland was not an official act, but a private action of some civil organizations. They would thoroughly investigate the matter, severely punish relevant personnel, and prevent similar periods from happening. However, such official statements could neither satisfy Germany and Austria nor solve practical problems. Therefore, on an unofficial occasion, a senior German general claimed with confidence that if the Soviet Union government refused to stop interfering in Polish affairs and compensate Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire for the losses, they would be devastatingly hit by hundreds of nuclear bombs, including Moscow, Leningrad, Volgograd, and Yekaterin Arbor. All cities including Moscow, Leningrad, Volgograd, and Yekaterin Arbor would be razed to the ground, and Russia's history would be erased.

The Russians have always been unafraid of threats. Faced with the rumor that "100 nuclear bombs flatten the Soviet Union", the leaders firmly stated through newspapers and broadcasts that the Soviet Union had the ability to block enemy aircraft carrying nuclear bombs on the border, thereby comforting the anxious Russian people. In fact, according to the German nuclear raw materials production speed, by the end of 1946, at most 4-5 atomic bombs were stored in the arsenal. If necessary, they could increase the production speed several times to the level of 1-2 per month. Even so, it would take several years to collect a hundred nuclear bombs. Therefore, it would be a praising for hundreds of nuclear bombs to level the Soviet Union. The most terrifying threat, even so, the nuclear-free and nuclear-powered countries are already in an unequal position psychologically. The German nuclear bomb technology is like a sharp sword hanging above the head of the Russians, and it may be beheaded in an instant at any time. You should know that Moscow is less than 1,000 kilometers away from Germany's air force base in Latvia. The best-performing bomber of the Luftwaffe is deployed there. Its excellent flight performance and strong protection capabilities are by no means something that Soviet-Russian fighter jets can "ensure shot down". Just half a year ago, the Germans successfully used this bomber to conduct nuclear bomb airdrop tests, thus greatly enhancing the strategic deterrence of nuclear weapons!

During this special and subtle period, the monarch of the new United Kingdom visited the Soviet Union for a state visit, which undoubtedly gave the top leaders of the Soviet Union a different approach. In addition to Japan, who claimed to have mastered nuclear weapons technology but had always concealed it and never produced reliable proof, there were only three countries in the world that had nuclear bombs, Germany, the United States, and Ireland. Although these countries provided a lot of military assistance to the Soviet Union in the early 1940s to jointly suppress Japan, based on their ideological opposition, they would never easily use nuclear weapons technology to share Germany with the Soviet Union. The government's position is undoubtedly the most decisive. The US government seems to be easier to speak, but as their strategic territory returns to the Western Pacific, the strategic competitive relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union is quietly emerging. Moreover, today's America is no longer the liberal and democratic America before World War II. Its economic lifeline is controlled by European capital. Politics, diplomacy and military are all in harmony with Western allies. If they want them to share nuclear secrets, they can exchange things that make the big capitalists excited for exchanges, but today's Soviet Russia obviously does not have such conditions...

Looking back to Moscow, the Kremlin, Xia Shu, dressed in simple military uniform, walked out of the car and shook hands with the Soviet leaders such as Sverdlov, Bubnov, Bukharin, Stalin, Kamenev, etc. who were coming towards him. Of course, these people in front of him would not know that if Xia Shu were not the butterfly that stirred history, most of them would not have lived in 1940. Comrade Stalin, who stood among the public, would not have acted as a "green leaf" in the position of vice chairman and member of the People's Committee for a long time, and the Soviet Union would never be what it is today.

After Xia Shu shook hands with everyone, Sverdlov, who was 61 years old at the time, said to him with a smile: "Someone had previously said that he would use an atomic bomb to erase Moscow from the earth. The arrival of the respected King of the United Kingdom is not only a sincere support to the Russian people, but also a powerful fight against the provocative elements. Therefore, respected King, on behalf of the 140 million Russian people, I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to you!"

Sverdlov not only smiled openly, but also expressed his optimism, confidence, wisdom and open-mindedness in his words made Xia Shu look up a little bit. However, the Soviet Union's revolutionary output was powerful, which made the heads of monarchs of European countries change their feelings for a long time. In order to calm the turmoil in Wales, Xia Shu also took some effort. He was still a little resentful about this, so he said meaningfully: "I have been friends with the Russian people for many years. When my friends are in trouble, I have to help them. How can I put the blame on the wrong side?"

When Sverdlov heard this, he raised his head and laughed heartily.

"Indeed, in the past three decades, Russia and Ireland have become increasingly close in cooperation in various fields. Ireland's weapons and technology have played an important role in defeating Japan on the Eastern battlefield. We have long regarded Ireland as our closest partner in Europe. Furthermore, the king has governed Ireland and Wales in an orderly manner and the people are willing to do so. He is a role model for a civilized country. There are many places worth learning and imitating!"

Xia Shu raised his eyebrows. It seemed that as the earliest revolutionary and leader of the Soviet Union, Sverdlov not only had excellent organizational capabilities, but also his mind and spirit were commendable. So he changed his tone: "The United Kingdom, which takes Ireland as the cornerstone of the country, adheres to the national training of freedom, democracy and equality in Ireland, tries to eliminate class differences and the gap between the rich and the poor, establishes a national welfare system based on free education and free medical care, and maintains human rights to survive and maintain peace and order. It can be said that such a United Kingdom has escaped the majority of the drawbacks of the traditional constitutional monarchy and formed a political system that integrates with democracy. Although it is not as good as the ideal country in your beliefs, in some aspects, it is an excellent choice under current consciousness and technical conditions."

Sverdlov did not argue, but looked at his comrades meaningfully and smiled: "Dear King, if this topic is discussed seriously, we have to talk about it for three days and three nights here. Come on! We have prepared delicious refreshments for you, let us sit down and talk about something else, such as... how can we resolve the troublesome international dispute in front of us."
