Chapter 851 Bloody Battle in Dongning (Part 2)

The afternoon sun shone on the ground, and Dongning Town, located between the mountains, was filled with gray smoke. The Japanese soldiers who rely on Dongning Town to resist the attack of the Soviet army carefully avoided the enemy's artillery fire, while trying to make the barricade stronger. They ate the dusty cold rice balls, sipped a few sips of cold water, and then arrived at their respective combat positions. These guys who had been tested for war cunningly hid each machine gun and each artillery in a temporary shelter that could prevent enemy bombing and direct firepower as much as possible. More than 60 tanks deployed here were ambushed in the ruins without exception, using their black muzzles to aim at the open area outside the town from behind the broken walls.

As the Japanese troops in nearby defense areas retreated one after another, the Japanese soldiers stationed in Dongning Town did not decrease but increased compared with the war. However, most of the troops retreated from the north and south directions only had light weapons. Tanks and artillery were either destroyed by enemy air strikes during the retreat, or were abandoned because they could not drag and pass through rugged sections.

Taking advantage of the attack of the Soviet army, Komatsuhara, commander-in-chief of the Dongning Defense Line, hurriedly inspected the already riddled defense line, and the defensive positions on the front line have been lost. The Japanese army is currently basically relying on the fortress group built between mountains and drilled deep rocks to defend. Looking at the battlefield, Dongning Town has become the focus of the competition between the two sides, and at the same time, the life gate that determines the success or failure of the battle is at the same time. Based on these changes, Komatsuhara adjusted the overall defense deployment.

More than half of the reserve troops were transferred to strengthen the guards of Dongning Town and the deep defense line. More than 2,000 scattered troops affiliated with the retreating troops were temporarily organized into 21 infantry squadrons according to their original affiliation, and the commander's vacancies were replaced by experienced non-commissioned officers. In addition, for the needs of thorough defensive operations, the remaining combat vehicles of the 5th Independent Chariot Brigade also drove from the rear to the west of Dongning Town as a mobile force to strengthen the defense here.

The fierce attack stopped for a short time, and the rumbling guns came again, and explosions came one after another, and thick smoke blocked the sight. The Japanese officers and soldiers deployed on the front line quickly noticed the sounds made by a large number of mechanical vehicles. The correspondents were busy for a while, restoring the lines destroyed by artillery fire, so that the main positions could maintain contact with the command center. The combat alarm was immediately transmitted to every corner of the city. The tired Japanese soldiers and generals knew that fierce battles were inevitable, and no one knew how long their positions could last, and when will the counterattack and support be launched in the rear. Most people had only one thought in their minds: defend to the death!

Accompanied by the harsh sound of tracks, olive green-coated chariots appeared in sight.

At about 500 meters, the new 47mm rapid-fire gun hidden behind a ruin carried out a tentative attack. The shells accurately hit a huge C30, and even penetrated its body armor with one shot. A blazing fireball burst out. Before the flames disappeared, the rolling black smoke had already burst out.

For the Russians, although the first Battle of Halaha was defeated, it achieved sympathy and support from Europe and the United States. It can be said to be a brilliant victory of retreating to advance. For the Japanese, this battle not only expanded their self-confidence again, but also brought some excitement to the point where the 47mm rapid-fire guns of the Type 94 47mm rapid-fire guns came into being for the difficult situation of Soviet chariots. It borrowed from the same type of Soviet artillery seized on the battlefield, and hired Italian artillery experts at high salaries during the research and development process. The new artillery and armor-piercing shells achieved more than expected results in the detection process. The Japanese Army quickly ordered 5,000 units and gave them priority to the various rapid-fire gun squadrons belonging to the Kanto Army.

Inspired by his companions, several other 47mm rapid-fire cannons deployed on the Japanese position could not wait to roar. The extremely high-fire shells roared over the devastated battlefield. The relatively weak armored C30 and the early model C35 were not opponents at all. Some were penetrated by the shells, some were also taken off, and some were damaged with tracks. They had brute force but could not move.

The rapid firing of the 47mm cannon achieved one battle after another, but gradually, the Japanese officers and soldiers suddenly discovered that some Soviet tanks continued to advance as if nothing had happened after being hit by shells. With the speed of the entire armored cluster members being almost the same, they quickly became prominent from the queue and were therefore more shells. Although two of them were fired and caught fire, it seemed that the Japanese armor-piercing bombs could not be used to pose a fatal threat to these big guys every time.

After continuing to advance for dozens of meters, these Soviet chariots with extremely powerful defenses suddenly stopped. Their turrets and muzzles were moving. When the whole vehicle was still, it suddenly trembled after a moment. The flames of the muzzles formed an irregular sphere with a radius of more than one meter. A thin layer of sand and dust spread on the ground around the body. Although the optical equipment provided by the Soviet chariots was poor, at such a distance, four or five Japanese rapid-fire cannons that were not as good as transfer were still directly destroyed. The other several artillery groups also suffered losses due to the shells falling from close range, so the remaining people had to move their positions. As a result, the defensive firepower of the Japanese positions quickly weakened, and the Russian armored clusters and large numbers of infantry advanced forward more unscrupulously.

The head of the queue, the heavy tanks that had just made great achievements, looked even more unstoppable!

"The blasting team is ready!"

In the trenches, Japanese non-commissioned officers with rich combat experience decisively used high-pitched commands to calm the soldiers' overly nervousness. During the first Battle of Halaha, the Japanese infantry's 20mm automatic guns, 37mm and 47mm caliber anti-armored guns were also helpless when facing medium and heavy Soviet tanks. After that, the Kwantung Army General Staff quickly issued a battlefield technical manual, informing the infantry how to solve the problem of the new situation. It is best to find a way to attack the side or rear of the enemy's front with rapid-fire guns. If it cannot be implemented, then you have to use explosives and **** to risk a close-range attack!

Faced with the target that was difficult to deal with the 47mm gun, the 37mm gun team deployed by the Japanese army behind the front line of positions had to stay honestly behind the camouflage net or hidden objects, waiting for the enemy to get closer and pick up some weak defenses. Although the ground was wet and cold, some officers lay tight on the ground, with a very serious expression on their faces to observe the Soviet Russian chariots that were getting closer and closer to the position. Their red five-star logos were often sprayed on the side of the turret, so from this corner

Only the olive green chariot body exudes a strong chill. At this moment, the extremely nervous young soldiers in the trenches had every reason to be indignant of the negligence and incompetence of the Japanese intelligence agencies: it was not until the first Battle of Halaha that they knew that the Russians had already started mass-equipped KV1 and C35 from mid to late 30 years, and these two types of combat vehicles have made a qualitative leap compared to previous types of combat vehicles. However, the Japanese combat vehicles and infantry anti-war vehicles still remained in the 1920s.

KV1, which was driving at the front of the huge armored cluster, was like the arrogant heavy armored infantry in ancient battle formations, carrying shields to block the enemy's arrows while wielding the heavy swords and axes in their hands. Only a few dozen meters away from the Japanese position, their front machine guns continued to make strange noises, and a string of bullets hit the edge of the trenches and dusty dust. Wherever the shells went, there were structural damage in both the trenches and the broken walls left in previous battles.

"Each battles with rapid-fire artillery team, aim at the enemy's chariot tracks, and shoot!"

The sound of commandments full of power flowed in the trenches, and then the 37mm anti-war chariots that had won lightly opened fire. Whether they could cause substantial damage to the enemy's heavy chariots was not the most important thing. Taking advantage of the opportunity when the enemy's firepower was attracted, the blasting team in the trenches fearlessly threw bundles of grenades, square explosive packs, and large and small **** ahead.

When a KV1 ran through a barricade full of corpses with a deafening roar, a guy bent suddenly jumped out of the ruins beside him. He rushed for a few steps with lightning speed and suddenly threw a bottle-shaped object towards the Soviet chariot. Although the man was immediately shot into a sieve by a front machine gun of a C35 behind, the KV1 in front also flammed. After continuing to move forward for a few meters, the heavy chariot stopped, and the turret and the hatch on the car opened, the chariot soldiers in dark uniform jumped out helplessly, and were killed by the bullets shot from the front after a few steps.

Although the Soviet troops that were attacking fiercely by Japanese infantry, the large-scale attack did not retreat. As more and more infantry followed the chariots and armored vehicles and broke into the Japanese defense line, the situation became more and more conducive to the attacking party. In desperation, some Japanese soldiers actually picked up rifles and shot at the Soviet chariots, but the Soviet chariots did not take this set at all. They did not slow down their speed and did not change their direction. They pierced the barricades diagonally like a sharp sword. When the tracks ran over the corpses of living or dead people, the screams and the sound of crushing bones made everyone present frightened!

After more than two hours of fierce fighting, the two sides fought over one street after another. When night gradually came, the Soviet army finally planted their red flags into the center and four corners of Dongning Town. Japanese chariots and infantry were completely expelled, but the casualties of the Russians in this battle reached a shocking number of 6,322 casualties and 10,114 wounded, which was equivalent to a 1940-type infantry division completely erased from the combat sequence, while the casualties of the Japanese army in Dongning Town were less than 10,000.
