Chapter 76

The Qi River originated from the Chishan Mountains of Zheng State, entered the Chu State through Qishui City, gathered countless tributaries, and then scattered a lake on the land of Chu State, and finally entered the sea from the east.

The canal water is a tributary of Qishui. It starts from the nameless deserted mountain of Jingshan Kingdom in the north, enters the Chu State in Qingxi City, and goes south, and passes through the canal and upper city to the Qishui River (see the starting point for details in this chapter).

This river has been manually cleaned many times in history, and the river channel is flat, making it easier to sail. In winter, the river water is gurgling (chán     yuán) is a good time to go north against the current.

Because in summer, you can take advantage of the turbulent water flow from the south and the violent monsoon from the north in winter. As long as you set out in winter and come back in summer, this waterway will save time and effort.

The bulk trade between the Chu State and Jingshan Mountain, as well as the Yan, Zhao and Jin Kingdom bordering Jingshan Mountain, mostly through this river.

Of course, because of this convenience, both the canals, the clear streams, and even other cities along the way have hoarded heavy troops to prevent other countries from invading with this path.

Nowadays, the countries are becoming more and more disagreeable. Although the ministers in the court are fighting in private, they are still quite united when it comes to such foreign affairs that can affect each other's life and death.

"Qingxi City was a long time ago, and now people call it Taoxi."

Asan and Ping sat in front of Bai Jingyuan with their faces in their hands, their faces full of longing.

"Oh? Why? Is it because there are a lot of peach trees planted there?"

If this is the case, spring will definitely be as beautiful as a fairyland!

Ping nodded, then shook his head again, making Bai Jingyuan laugh out loud: "Is it or not? What does it mean when you shake your head and nod?"

"I know I know!"

Lu'er is younger than Ping and Asan, but one year older than Bai Jingyuan. Therefore, when chatting, he always expresses himself enthusiastically.

"Then tell me! If you say it well, I'll give you this piece of candy."

The deer was dancing and was about to speak when the boatman shouted loudly: "Who is blocking the road ahead?"

Looking on tiptoe, it was a slender fishing boat, lying across the heart of the river.

The fleet set out from the canal, passed dozens of small towns along the way, went to Qingxi to change carriages and continued northward, and passed through Jingshan, and you could enter the Daji who was held in your arms by Jingshan.

Bai Jingyuan has seen the map and there are official roads all the way from Phoenix Platform to Yangcheng. Even if it is a cart pulled by a slow horse, it will only take 18 days to arrive. If the warrior rides on horseshoes, installs a new saddle and double stirrup, and changes the horses and no ones all the way, you can arrive in about three days and three nights.

Now that I have such a detour, I set out in early January and I will be lucky to arrive at Yangcheng by the end of April.

I just hope not to encounter too many things along the way!

He now has very low requirements and no longer expects peace. Since the day he set out, his turtle sword has never left him.

After coming out of Qu Shangcheng, he was very novel about the scenery on both sides of the straits. After leaping into the cabin for two days, he felt that the bleak winter scenery was very boring.

The servants may also find it difficult, and unknowingly, they formed a gossip chat group with him. From domestic to foreign countries, they heard various interesting stories that made people laugh from time to time, and the boring journey instantly added a lot of color.

When a big boat is walking in the middle of the river, the sail made of thin cowhide will be opened when there is wind, and when there is no wind, a boatman will shout horns and paddle with oars.

The boat was made of smooth wooden floors, waterproof paint on the floor, and a small cabin. Bai Jingyuan could sleep in bed, while others were laying on the floor.

When he first was in the Great Scene, he saw the wooden boat made by wild people that had to be careful not to overturn when riding two or three people, and thought that the shipping in this world was still in its infancy.

Later, when he arrived at the canal, in order to facilitate his fishing, Huan Wen specially found a wooden boat for him that could take about twenty people and carry bamboo sheds. He also lamented that the shipbuilding technology here was so advanced?

Until this time, he set out for Daji, and it took at least two months to reach Qingxi. When he saw the queen specially summoning the craftsmen of Chu State, he couldn't help but sigh that he had little knowledge!

The shipbuilding technique here has indeed reached a bottleneck. It is probably not easy for a single person to build larger ones in a short period of time, but these skilled craftsmen are very good at finding ways. They arranged four boats together and then laid decks on them to get the cabin. It was so witty!

"What's going on?"

Seeing that the boat stopped, Bai Jingyuan held the side of the boat and walked carefully to the bow under Hong's protection.

The Mi family phoenix bird flag was inserted at the bow of the boat, and was blown by the river wind.

Now the world knows that Mi’s only one is qualified to hang this kind of flag. This ship deliberately blocked it, either out of ignorance or intentional.

A boatman had asked, if the ignorant and foolish people found that they were blocking the nobles' way, they would have been panicking, but the ship had not.

When I saw someone on the big ship asking, the boat not only did not leave, but instead turned 180 degrees on the spot.

The boat fell and saw two white-haired old men sitting opposite each other under the bamboo shed. One of them put a bundle of firewood behind their backs, an axe on their waists, and a half-dry net piled beside the net, leaning against the hat.

There was a charcoal basin beside them. Two branches as thick as small fingers were inserted diagonally in the special hole along the edge of the charcoal basin. There was a crucian carp with a palm length on each of the branches, which was already roasted to the point of being burnt yellow.

As for the person who was lying on the boat, it looked only one meter but had a beard. No wonder he hadn't seen him before, but it turned out to be blocked by the boat shed.

"The fisherman and woodcutter know very well! Today it is sunny and it's just right to sail. The boat is like shuttles on the river. Isn't it harmful to others and not to benefit yourself?"

The boatman was afraid of losing the matter to the young master, so he was so anxious that he saw the fisherman and the woodcutter's white hair, but he couldn't scold him for eight of them.

The two old men ignored him and stared at the young master with red lips and white teeth beside the ugly female swordsman.

Seeing this, Bai Jingyuan had to sigh helplessly, smile and go forward, pay homage to the elder, and then said warmly:

"The two elders are waiting here specifically, I wonder what to teach me?"

He has now received experience in receiving gifts, and it is obvious that these two old men are not here to give gifts.

Due to living conditions, the white-haired old men in this era are quite rare. Even if he is the crown prince, he dare not fight against the elderly.

How do you say this?

It's probably the same as a modern young man who meets fans asking for autographs.

Their attitude is very satisfying. Even if they are not praised, no one will scold them. If they ignore them, or if they are beaten away by sticks, then he will never think of raising his head in his life!

Sure enough, after hearing what he said, the two old men smiled.

Originally, they thought they would leave after a few words of preaching, but Bai Jingyuan was ready to be sprayed, but the woodcutter pointed to the boat under his feet and picked up the grilled fish and said, "My boat is about to sink. I wonder if the young master is willing to take me for a while?"

What else can Bai Jingyuan say? He could only nod and invite them on the boat with a smile.

Then he saw him take off his axe from his waist and throw it at the bottom of the boat at will. The solid wood-bottomed boat immediately broke a big hole.

Bai Jingyuan: "..."

Did he refuse, so the ship doesn't need to be broken?

Just as he thought of this, the woodcutter held the fisherman in one hand and the dwarf in the other, kicked the sinking ship with his legs, and landed on the deck in front of Bai Jingyuan in the blink of an eye.

The three of them stood still, and the boat had already entered the water.

The ministers who had been prepared had gone down to tug the boat. Bai Jingyuan frowned and looked at it. He felt sorry for them that they had to go into the water to tie the broken boat in the middle of winter. Then he saw two burnt grilled fish handed to him:
