Reprinted from Baidu.

The reason for posting this passage is to let readers know the status of the martial artist during the Three Kingdoms period.

Huangfu Gui, Zhang Huan, Duan Ying, collectively known as "Liangzhou Sanming"

Here we talk about Huangfu Gui, Zhang Huan and Duan Ying, the "Three Mings of Liangzhou". These three people have had outstanding achievements in the Qiang War and are also well-known among the Qiang people. However, these three people are divided into two camps in terms of suppressing and pacification. Huangfu Gui, Zhang Huan agreed with pacification, while Duan Ying agreed with pacification.

Huangfu Gui and Zhang Huan agreed to the pacification, in fact, on the basis of military intimidation, migrated the subdued Qiang tribes to the pass and scattered them among the Han people, allowing them to change from nomadic life to farming and farming. Duan Ying's suppression was a genocide. When Duan Ying was appointed as the captain of the Qiang Hunting School, he destroyed more than a dozen small Qiang tribes. For large tribes like Xianling, he also took the method of gradually eroding them and reducing their number.

In the short term, Duan Ying's method is indeed effective, but in the long term, Huangfu Gui and Zhang Huan's approach is more thorough. Unfortunately, the Han court has been swaying and there is no fixed domestic ethnic policy, which has led to the inability of Huangfu Gui's method of Zhang Huan's method. Duan Ying's method is too bloody and opposed by the majority of gentry. It is precisely because of this hesitation from the court that the Qiang Rebellion became an important reason for the demise of the Han Dynasty.

The Qiang Rebellion can be said to have completely run through the Eastern Han Dynasty. It consumed nearly 100 billion yuan of money in the country, but it was unable to completely calm down Liang. In the end, it could only rely on the issuance of a large amount of copper coins to solve the financial problems, causing a series of problems, and ultimately making the country increasingly weak.

I also think that the Qiang Rebellion is not a simple internal problem of the country, and there is also the shadow of the Huns. Because Qiang once became a vassal of the Huns, and the Qiang people also established their own regime during the An Emperor's reign. With the military strategic factors of Liangzhou, it was not impossible for the Huns to secretly incite and support the Qiang Rebellion. Therefore, the fundamental reason for the Qiang Rebellion in the Eastern Han Dynasty is a comprehensive reflection of the dispute between the Han and the Huns and the independence of the Qiang Rebellion.

Huangfu Gui and Duan Ying did not have much conflict in their early years. However, in the later period, the relationship between the two was distant due to the disagreement of the Qiang chaos, but it was not obvious in opposition. Later, Huangfu Gui strongly supported Zhang Huan, and Zhang Huan naturally became a member of Huangfu Gui. Due to Zhang Huan's accusations against Duan Ying and Duan Ying's refutation of Zhang Huan, the Sanming in Liangzhou completely broke up.

Huangfu Gui, Zhang Huan, and Duan Ying were both persecuted by eunuchs. During the reign of Emperor Huan, the three of them were either demoted or dismissed. Although they returned to the court to serve military positions, since then, the three of them did have great differences in their treatment of eunuchs. Due to their seniority and age, Huangfu Gui ignored the eunuchs' power. Zhang Huan himself was also very loyal and despised the eunuchs' method. In the court coup to eliminate Dou Wu and Chen Fan, Zhang Huan played a key role because he was deceived by eunuchs. Later, when he was awarded merits, the eunuchs gave Zhang Huan the reward of senior officials and marquis, but Zhang Huan refused. It can be said that Zhang Huan always stood on the opposite side of eunuchs from beginning to end. Duan Ying fell completely on the side of eunuchs. Haitang Xiangguo explained this in detail in the article, so I won't talk nonsense.

I think all three methods of these three people are understandable. Although Duan Ying was criticized by later generations for joining the power of eunuchs, the eunuchs were at the peak of their lives at that time. If Duan Ying continued to fight against eunuchs, it would not be impossible to lose his official position and dismiss him, and it might even be summoned to kill him. However, it was impossible for Duan Ying to join the gentry. The gentry has always been dissatisfied with Duan Ying's massacre policy, and even later generations have been opposed by scholars. In this situation, Duan Ying's resignation with eunuchs can be said to be a helpless act.

But in general, Duan Ying can be said to be a famous general of the time, Huangfu Gui and Zhang Huan also made great achievements in military affairs. However, compared with the three, Duan Ying's record was originally better than the other two.
