810: Just take a gamble

On June 26, 2014, 14 days have passed since the Grizzlies won the NBA championship in the 13-14 season.

During these 14 days, Link enjoyed real peace. He and Rachel spent half a month of leisurely time undisturbed. Since becoming a professional player, Link has never been so relaxed.

But on June 26, Link returned to people's vision since the championship parade.

Brooklyn, New York, Barclays Center. Before the draft, which is known as the best draft in 10 years and can be compared with the 2003 draft, Link unexpectedly appeared in front of everyone.

It is actually not surprising that the main stars of a team appear at the draft. But it is very surprising that a team with only a second-round draft pick has attracted the main stars to participate.

However, facing the camera, Link naturally did not reveal the team's plan. He just said lightly, "This year is the best draft in 10 years, and I certainly won't miss it. Moreover, I have never participated in the draft, so I really want to experience the atmosphere of participating in the draft."

With a few words, Link made the reporters believe his words. If Link didn't mention this matter, many people might have forgotten that the player who won all the heavyweight personal honors this year was actually a undraft!

NBA is such a wonderful place.

In the draft, Andrew Wiggins, known as the second James, was surrounded by reporters, and Jabbarri Parker was talking about his dream of winning the NBA championship.

Even Joel Embiid, who is recovering from injuries in California, was treated as a remote online interview.

Looking at these young people who have attracted much attention before entering the league, Link is really envious.

I remember that before he entered the league, he didn't dare to imagine such a scene, but was thinking about what to do with the rent next month...

People are so angry that they are more popular.

"Link, today is very energetic!" Wallace warmly greeted Link in the private room at Barclays Center.

"So too, Chris. How about you? Are you sure who you are today?" Link said, and stood up politely to shake Wallace's hand.

A few days ago, Wallace had already confirmed and focused on the four people, Joe Harris, Dinwiddie, Clarkson and Jokic.

Wallace admired Jokic's talent very much, so he overcame Jerami Grant and squeezed into the shortlist.

But the Grizzlies only have one second-round pick this year, so they have to choose one of four. Until last night, Wallace hadn't decided who to choose.

Therefore, Link asked curiously.

"I'm sure, we'll take Joe Harris and Spencer Dinwiddie Harris is an excellent shooter, and we believe he can play a role. And Dinwiddie, I think we can look forward to it. If his physical condition can recover, we'll get a high point guard with a strong impact!"

"Two people? If I remember correctly, we only have one second-round draft pick." Link was confused. How could four choose one become four choose two.

"Hehe, can you trade the draft picks? I think the quality of the second round pick this year is very high and should not be missed. Therefore, I will trade another second round pick later. Do you still remember Jamal Franklin we selected in the second round last year? Although he played in the Development League for a whole year last season, it still attracted the attention of some teams. Using him as a bargaining chip to get a second second round pick is not a big problem."

Link nodded to express his understanding. Although Jokic failed to catch Wallace's eye in the end, Joe Harris and Dinwiddie were indeed good players.

Link has nothing to say about this. As a championship team, choosing the right combat ability in the draft is the correct operation.

Jokic may be very good in the future, but his current level really cannot help the Grizzlies too much.

After sitting in the private room for a while, the talent show officially began. After Mr. Joke came on stage and said a few casual words, he handed the stage to today's protagonists.

In the first pick, the Cleveland Cavaliers chose their second James, Andrew Wiggins without any suspense.

This Canadian, who bounced vertically higher than Jordan in the joint trial, seemed to be the hope of the Clevelanders' revival, as if he was here to replace James's mantle.

It is believed that he and Irving will certainly bring Cleveland back to the top of the East.

Looking at the Cleveland fans who were screaming, Link couldn't help but sigh. If nothing unexpected happens, they will say goodbye to the second James in more than a month, and the real LeBron James will be welcomed.

It's interesting to think about it.

In the second pick, Jabary Parker was picked by the Bucks without any suspense. Embiid, who is recovering from injury, will still become a Tanhua Show even if he is confirmed to be reimbursed next season.

The first three rankings are exactly the same as the original history and have no deviation.

For others, the draft was exciting and exciting. But for Link, it was a bit boring.

After all, he already knew the whole result. A suspense movie has no suspense, what else can I watch?

So, in the whole first round, Link was listless. When he arrived at the second round draft pick that no one paid attention to, Link became more energetic.

The Grizzlies won the eighth pick in the second round this year. As for what the pick is, it is still unknown. Wallace has been busy for a long time, and the phones have hung up one after another, and then hang up again and again.

Link felt that he was too impatient when he saw these operations. Just a second-round draft pick transaction was far more troublesome than Link imagined.

As general managers, summer is actually their busiest time.

However, before Chris Wallace received good news, he was the first to receive bad news.

The third pick in the second round, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the biggest winner of this year's draft, took away Joe Harris, who Wallace had long been beloved for in advance.

After harvesting Wiggins, the top pick, the Cavaliers were not ruthless in the second round.

Wallace and many people were surprised by this result. Isn’t the talent that the Knights need most now? Why did they choose the right combat power?

But Link knew very well that the Cavaliers probably had a little frowning with James now, so they were already working hard to form a championship team!

They reap the fighting power, and they caught everyone off guard!

"Damn, what are the Cleveland people doing?? They don't really think that Wiggins and Irving's first year of cooperation will allow the Cavaliers to be reborn. Don't pick potential stocks, choose a fighter right away?" Wallace was so angry that he almost smashed the phone. The player he was thinking about day and night was intercepted by others, and anyone else would be angry.

"Now you only choose 1 with 3. Are you still planning to trade a draft pick?" Link spread his hands. One of Wallace's two targets had gone. Even if he traded ten second-round draft picks, he would not be able to get Harris.

Wallace hesitated for a few seconds before continuing to pick up the phone.

He also plans to trade!

Finally, at the 38th pick, Chris Wallace won Dinwiddie without hesitation. After all, the Grizzlies' substitute point guard is only one of Delavidova, which is still relatively weak.

Wallace was relieved to successfully get Dinwiddie. Although he lost his number one goal, the Grizzlies did not get nothing.

However, since second-round picks are rarely invited to the dark room, Dinwiddie did not come on stage and he was not even on the scene. After a few simple video introductions, the draft continued.

Just as Dinwiddie's draft ended, Wallace received a call from the Timberwolves. The other party expressed his willingness to take over Jamal Franklin and handed over the draft pick with the 10th pick in the second round to the Grizzlies.

The Timberwolves are probably busy dealing with the Cavaliers for Wiggins, and they are no longer so concerned about the second round draft pick.

Link looked at Wallace, he didn't know who Wallace was going to choose for this second draft pick.

Harris has left, Clarkson and Jokic, who is what he yearns for?

Wallace seemed to see through Link's doubts, so he spread his hands, "If you choose Clarkson again, the defender's position will be a little crowded. So, let's just take a gamble. After all, I believe in your vision, Link."

※※※

Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly reached an agreement with deputy general manager Altolas a few days ago that they would choose Jokic!

When he was a player, Alturas played in Lithuania, France, Spain, Greece and Italy. From 2008 to 2013, he also served as an international scout for the Rockets and had unique insights in selecting international players.

After watching the video of Jokic's game, the two reached a consensus. After asking the boss for instructions, they decided to make a small bet.

Anyway, the 41st pick has no greater value except betting.

In the 40th pick, when the Grizzlies picked up the second time, Connelly wrote Jokic's name into the small envelope in advance and prepared to submit it to the league.

However, the subsequent live broadcast made Connelly stunned.

"The 10th pick in the second round of the NBA draft in 2014, the Memphis Grizzlies chose Nikola Jokic, 19, from Serbia."

There was no reaction at the scene. After all, 99% of the people present did not know who Nikola Jokic was. They didn't need to know, because more than half of the second-round picks would fade out of people's sight after only one year and would never come back.

But Connery cursed the words that f was the first to start and threw away the pen in his hand.
