Chapter Nineteen Unannounced Strangers

In April 2002, Weisha was invited to join the Sonny Hill League held in Philadelphia.

Although Hill League has no reputation, its history in Philadelphia can be traced back to the 1960s.

There were a variety of leagues composed of top local high school players in that era. Before the Hill League was launched, the best event was the Narberth League held at the Philadelphia suburbs. The Hill League stood out because it was a city-wide competition and was held indoors.

In that troubled era, Hill League helped Philadelphia basketball regain its pride.

In the 1960s, there was anger everywhere. During the period after Martin Luther King was stabbed, there was a riot in Philadelphia. Going out became a dangerous thing. The atmosphere between whites and blacks was very tense. However, basketball was a sport that united everyone.

Hill founded the Sonny Hill League in a sense to compete with the street gangs that devour Philadelphia. Because many local gangs closely guard their respective territories, it is difficult for children to travel through one block after another by one. If they try to travel, they will often get into turf disputes and trouble. However, if a player carries a sports bag unique to the Sonny Hill League, gang members usually don’t come forward and let them pass. This means that players can travel around Philadelphia to participate in the league. The witty Hill has mixed up with several parole officers and public safety personnel among the league’s coaching corps and adult backbones, so gangs everywhere quickly discovered that they should not provoke Hill League players.

The Philadelphia star who first became famous in the Hill League was called "Sweet Bean" Joe Bryant.

Wei Xia joined the Hill League like a star produced in Philadelphia. Half of his teams are adults. He is the main force and core of the team. He is under 18 years old but averages 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game. His athletic ability has once again refreshed people's perception of him.

Some people say that his style of play is very similar to Dr. J.

This view was quickly refuted by old fans who have seen Irving play: "Unless Wish can do ten moves in the air one day before putting the ball into the basket, don't compare him with 'Dr.J'!"

Well, when the aliens invade the earth, you should be able to see the scene of doing ten movements in the air before putting the ball into the basket.

Wei Xia is not unable to do it. If you can hold a wire during the game, let alone 10 movements, 20 movements will be done for them to see.

At the same time, the NBA's playoffs were in full swing.

Due to the farce of Iverson and Larry Brown, the 76ers, who were still runner-up last season, quickly lost their competitiveness and were eliminated early.

Wei Xia does not pay attention to the 76ers, he prefers to watch Pacers. Yes, he is a Pacer. If he can't watch the Pacers' race, he will watch supersonics.

Although he likes Kobe very much, he has to start from reality.

John Haflicecke's style of play requires him to run wildly in the game. Can you expect Kobe to run wildly in the game? If necessary, he will definitely do it, but no coach will let him run wildly in the game. It's like the Zen master will not let the Sharks be the inside of the space, Jordan will not let Jordan be a three-pointer, and Pipen will not make the final shot if Jordan is there. Oh no, even if Jordan is there, he may not be the final shot for him, and Tony Kukoc is not.

The question Wei Xia has been thinking about is, what changes would have happened if Havlicek played in contemporary times?

He thought that Richard Hamilton, who would be greatly upgraded to defense.

Maybe he should find a way to practice shooting. His scoring points are concentrated in the penalty area, and the game that is placed at a higher level will be targeted.

However, in the old days, Havlicek was not yet time to practice shooting.

Things experienced in the old times will be reflected on Wei Xia, so even if he wants to practice shooting, he will be backfired by the old times.

After Wei Xia participated in the Hill League, major universities pursued him more enthusiastically than before.

DePaul University previously invited Wei Xia to visit, but he only said that he would think about it again and there would be no follow-up.

Wei Xia's approach is usually seen as rejection.

But DePaul did not give up, and they provided Wei Xia with two scholarships in a row.

One is from the DePaul University basketball team and the other is from the DePaul University track and field team.

Wei Xia participated in the school's track and field training just to exercise her body, and she did not have the intention to develop in track and field. Any school that knows him should know. DePaul University showed sincerity. As long as Wei Xia was willing to go, she would get two scholarships.

At the same time, they sent a formal invitation to Wei Xia.

High school students visiting universities are divided into informal visits and formal visits. When DePaul University first invited Wei Xia, it did not explain whether it was an official visit or an informal visit. This time, they publicly announced that they were formally invited Wei Xia to visit the school, just like an announcement to the outside world: "We are going to make a reservation for this child!"

DePaul University is full of sincerity, and Wei Xia cannot refuse. Even if his heart does not belong to them, he agrees to go over and take a look.

July is the Pennsylvania 4A Basketball Championship, and Wei Xia will visit DePaul University in early June.

Just before he sets off—

Wei Xia finished training as usual and went home with her friends. Dick Long and Lee Zhongxian made an appointment to have dinner at his house and watch the seventh game of the Western Conference Finals.

As soon as they arrived home, Wei Xia's sister Wei Chun trotted to the door and said to him, "Go and wash your face and change your clothes!"

"Sister Annie, what's the matter?" Li Zhongxian asked (Wei Chun's English name).

Wei Chun said in a low voice: "A big man is here!"

As a result, Dalong and Li Zhongxian were sent to Wei Qiu's room by Wei Chun's reasons that they were not allowed to be used for the countertops. They were bombarded as soon as they entered Wei Qiu's room, so they wandered to Wei Xia's room and found a bunch of snacks on the table. They immediately forgot about the negligence of the Wei family and started eating happily.

Wei Xia has an unknown habit: she likes to buy snacks, but she doesn't eat much. Because she doesn't eat much, her snacks often expire. He doesn't know how to deal with expired snacks, so she put them in the room. One day he found that the expired snacks that he didn't know how to deal with disappeared. He thought that God had taken away harmful items, so he insisted on putting the expired snacks in a conspicuous place so that God wouldn't find them. It was not until a few years later that he discovered that the God who took over the expired snacks was his brother...

So, what are the ingredients of the snacks Dalong and Li Zhongxian eat? Needless to say, right?

Wei Xia just washed her face and hands, not dressing up as her family expected.

He walked to the living room and found a stranger in casual clothes having a good time talking to his parents.

"Philly, come quickly!" Mei Chen called Wei Xia to his side and introduced him to the stranger who had come without telling him, "This gentleman is..."

"Mrs. Wei, it's more formal to me."

The stranger smiled faintly and interrupted the enthusiastic Mei Chen.
