Chapter five hundred and sixty fifth boy and camel

A week later, Kahn and his group arrived at a human settlement.

"Further forward is the deserted competition desert. This is the last trade point we can encounter along the way. If there is anything to do, we will do it here."

Unexpectedly, the commander of this operation was not Nathers but Ryze.

Although Nathus has been walking on the yellow sand for thousands of years, much of his memory of Shurima has remained in the past, and outdated information can sometimes be misleading.

So he gave up the position of leader to Reitz and asked him to plan the operation until they arrived at the tomb of the emperor.

"It's better to replace Scarash with a camel here. If you want to travel through Kalikse, you can't have too big goals," said Nathers.

"Is it because of Rexse? That legendary beast." Shiville took over the topic. Mercenaries like them who ran around had no chance of hearing about Kalixse's danger.

For ferocious predators, the oasis and human settlements are gathering places for prey, and in the deepest part of the desert there are some truly deadly creatures - poisonous spiders, blind sand snakes and "Exes" that do not belong to this world.

Eksey lies dormant underground, digging tunnels and caves, and is the death under the sand and gravel.

And Rexes is the queen of these Exes.

"That's not a beast, Shiville, it comes from the void just like what we are in us, it's a real void creature." Kahn corrected it very seriously.

You cannot be despised by the void creatures. If you only treat it as an ordinary beast, you are very wrong.

Shiville rarely showed a solemn expression. The only time she saw a void creature was when Taliyah lost control and tear open the cracks in the ground, allowing the void spirit inside to crawl out.

Xu Ling pierced her back with her blade foot, and she almost died on the spot, but was saved by Kahn using skin nail symbiosis. That experience made her feel scared. Every time she thinks about it, she always feels a colic in her heart.

If Exes was really a void creature, then the legendary portraying them so terrible is probably not exaggerated.

"Even I don't want to travel through that area alone, I often choose to go around a hundred miles away from those monsters." Nathers said seriously.

"Then why didn't you take a detour this time?" asked Shiville.

"Because Ryze is here."

Nathers's words made Shiville look at Ryze, but the latter had no explanation and led Scalash to the market.

...

Two hours later, Rez came back with a team of camels.

Kasha saw at a glance that the number of camels was wrong, with seven or eight heads as many as seven or eight heads. Even if they included Nathers, there were only five people. So what were these extra camels used for?

"We don't have so many luggage to carry. Do we have to get a carriage for Nathers to sit on?" Kasha asked casually.

"I guess, in addition to riding, some of these camels are used as bait."

"Is it to lure the void creature I just mentioned?"

Kahn nodded: "Exes are a group of blind men. They have no eyes and rely on sensing the vibrations on the sand to catch prey. This is also the reason why it is so dangerous to travel through the Kahliks. It is almost impossible for you to avoid them, because your feet must fall on the sand. Once you encounter Exes... it's okay if you are a small one, you're not going to be able to defeat it if you are a little bit too much; if you are a big one, you have to learn to abandon your soldiers and protect your commander."

"So, are those extra camels used to lure Exes away, and are sacrifices dedicated to the void?"

"You're right."

"Master Master!" A strange voice interrupted the communication between the two. They looked at the back of the camel team, and several young men with pale faces and skinny faces called out Rez.

One of the bold ones, who was not scared to speak because of Ryze's appearance, gritted the bullet and pleaded: "Master, please hire me, let me take you through the dangerous Kaliksey. The six of us only need a camel!"

"No need." Reitz refused coldly.

"I, I will walk quietly and show you my feet!"

The young man raised his soles and pointed them at Ryze. Although this was impolite, he had no intention of offending and insulting from his anxious face.

Rez looked at his feet and saw that his feet were covered with thick calluses and his skin had cracked. He was indeed a pair of "skinned" feet.

"Let's go."

The young man stood on one foot and couldn't help but his center of gravity was unstable. He was shaking and he felt like he was amnesty when he heard Ryze let him put down his feet.

"I don't need any guide. I've walked the Kaliksai road many times. Do you think I'll need you guys to lead the way if I can live until now? I'm afraid you spend less time on this desert than me."

Rez scolded him harshly, and his appearance was so fierce that he immediately made the young man confused. He took a small step back and prepared to leave.

"etc."

Suddenly, he called the young man. The latter thought he had changed his mind, so he immediately came up with a shy face.

I saw Rez take out a few dollars from his pocket and put it in the young man's hand, and said impatiently: "It's not that I don't want to take care of your business, but that we really don't need you. You can eat something for this little money and stop doing this kind of business anymore. Kaliksey is very dangerous. Few people can live on this desert for several quarters."

"Thank you, Master Mage!" After listening in a daze, the young man was overjoyed, bowed deeply to Rez and ran away with the other guys, and disappeared from everyone's sight in a few steps.

Although Kasha understood part of the abrupt scene in front of him, there were still many that could not be understood at a glance.

"Did these people volunteer to be bait?" she asked.

"Yes, the young man's life is cheaper. They are basically abandoned children. They can only take risks in order to make some money. They will keep a distance of half a day in front of the caravan to try the danger, so as to guide the caravan to avoid Aixe who is ambushing the road."

Life is not easy, Kahn sighed. When life is not satisfactory, thinking about the experiences of these people, he suddenly feels that he is already very lucky.

"When I encounter Exes, I will die?" Kasha thought.

Six young men, plus a camel, were not even able to get between their teeth for the insatiable hunger of the void creatures.

"So they practice a technique called "quiet walking", which means to minimize the vibrations caused when walking, and move quietly and quickly. If they encounter Exes, they will scare the camel away to attract the attention of the predators, and then use this technique to move away from the predators in another direction."

"Can this work..." Kasha was speechless and fell into the first perspective of the void creature. She felt that this was just joking about her life. The life breath of a living person is so obvious, how could she not be able to smell it?
