098 What is Distinction of Rewards and Punishments?

The land Long Xiang chose was very square, and he personally participated in the stake setting and laying out stage, planning to build a 'model community' as a template.

The entire community is planned in an array-like square layout, with ten households arranged horizontally in groups, thus eliminating the need for bricks on public walls;

There is a two-foot-wide public road between the groups, and the outer ten groups are surrounded by walls. Community water wells are drilled into the four corners of the walls to form a unified whole.

Long Xiang directly copied the community layout of later generations to the Three Kingdoms era, but in fact, the area of the 100-household community was not as large as that of the Marquis Mansion in Hefei.

The novel house type and novel layout make the whole building look like a city within a city, so during the construction period, there were often casual people looking at it.

On the day of the groundbreaking, Long Xiang changed his clothes and went out in person. He not only taught people how to sift sand and ash, but also demonstrated to the masons the steps of building culverts with bricks, plastering, and finishing the culverts.

In the shallow pit dug in advance, Long Xiang used green bricks to place a concave-shaped drainage channel. After the construction was completed, he directly plastered the inner wall of the channel and polished it.

After plastering, let it dry for a day, then seal it with bricks on the top of the culvert and then plaster it. It will be covered with soil on the third day to complete the concealment work.

At this point, the simple drainage system is completed.

The drainage culvert starts from the vegetable pool and laundry pool in the backyard, connects to the latrines and pig pens in the middle, and then flows through a high slope to the sewage pool outside the yard. The pool is covered with wooden boards to block light and avoid odor.

Long Xiang demonstrated and explained to the craftsmen. Since there was not much technical difficulty, everyone learned it very quickly. After watching it for a while, they were able to follow the example.

Although there were no construction machinery in this era, the one-story courtyard had a shallow foundation and a relatively simple structure. It only required setting the markings and laying bricks upwards.

If there are many people and sufficient materials, one person's height can be built in one day, and the main structure can be completed in about three days, followed by the roof decoration and grassing, and a house can be built in seven or eight days.

As for the doors and windows, they will be installed slowly after being uniformly processed by carpenters according to the holes left.

According to the construction plan of Long Xiang Pai, the craftsmen each performed their own duties and did their own things, and the work was carried out as a unit of ten households in a row.

By mid-June, the project entered the final stage.

After installing the last door of the community, Long Xiang took the generals above the head of the Hefei team to the site for an 'acceptance inspection'.

Everyone entered from the south gate of the community. The houses in front were neatly arranged with completely unified construction standards, like a standing army.

The epoch-making planning and design bring visual impact to everyone.

During the visit, people were discussing in low voices from time to time, and there were endless compliments.

"A brick house is stronger than a clay one. Living there will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer."

"The culvert is amazing. I just poured a bucket of water into the laundry pool, and it ended up flowing into the sewage pool behind the yard..."

"If I can live here in the future, I will go back to my hut to relieve myself, and use my own fertilizer to water my vegetables."

"Then you have to be careful. The sewage pool of these houses is outside the backyard, and the vegetable plot is in the front yard. Have you passed through the house to pick up manure and fertilize?"

"Are you stupid? I grow vegetables in the backyard, but can't I raise chickens in the front yard?"

"I think you are stupid. It's okay to keep chickens in the front yard, but you can't keep pigs in the front yard? If you want me to make an agreement with the neighbor behind, use the manure from their sewage tank."

"You are the only one who knows how to calculate? Who can the households in the far south and the far north borrow fertilizer from?"

"Haha, in the far south and in the far north, it's better to live with craftsman brothers. If you don't grow vegetables at home, you don't need fertilizer."

...

The soldiers were already discussing the issue of moving in, while Lu Su pressed the gaps between the bricks with his hands.

After Long Xiang saw it, he asked curiously: "What is Zijing thinking about?"

"This cement is indeed a good thing. Not only does it have sufficient adhesion, I think the hardness is also quite good. If the entire wall is painted like the one in the culvert, and then paint is painted on the surface, who would know that there are blue bricks hidden inside?

"Lu Su asked thoughtfully.

Long Xiang was startled when he heard this, and thought to himself, I just finished building the house, and you actually considered decorating the exterior walls?

"Painting the entire wall... also means plastering and polishing. Applying paint on the outside will not only prevent it from falling off, but will also look more beautiful. However, the cement workshop has just been built, and some personnel are unfamiliar with it, and there is a shortage of raw materials.

It’s difficult. The daily output is relatively limited. We’ll wait until the output increases later..."

After hearing this, Feng Zhong quickly agreed: "It's good to be able to protect yourself from wind and rain. There is no need to waste cement on the wall."

"Hey, Lao Feng has been waiting for this day for a long time. I will remember the door of your house so that I don't go to the wrong door when I come to dinner." Tang Hui joked with a smile on the side.

Feng Zhong shook his head gently: "There are only 100 new houses. There are thousands of households in Hefei. It's not certain whether they can get them..."

"You can't live in a new house, so who is qualified to live in a new house?"

Tang Wei pursed his lips, thinking that you were too modest.

Feng Zhong was noncommittal, glanced at Long Xiang and said: "Anyway, there are only a hundred sets, Yunqi can divide them however he wants."

Real estate was also a luxury item in ancient times. When it comes to property distribution, there must be conflicts of interest.

Lu Su and Long Xiang lived in Junsima Mansion and had no intention of fighting for a new house.

Seeing that Long Xiang had not expressed his position, Lu Su took the initiative and asked: "Yunqi, the bricks burned this year have been almost used. If you want to continue building new houses, you have to wait until next year. What do you think about the distribution?"

"What's there to consider? It's first come, first served..."

Tang Wei almost blurted out, but he regretted it immediately after he said it, because the Xu brothers came last, but their expressions were very natural.

Long Xiang looked at everyone, and finally his eyes fell on Tang Wei.

"Many people have come to ask me in the past few days, but they didn't give a definite answer at the time. On the way here today, I figured it out. The first-come, first-served approach advocated by Uncle Hui is not advisable..."

Tang Yi always kept Feng Zhong in mind. He knew that his old friend had been waiting for this new house for a long time. Although he did not believe that Long Xiang would treat him badly, he still asked nervously: "Then how do you want to divide it? Mr. Feng should have a share, right?"

"

Long Xiang nodded solemnly: "Needless to say, Uncle Zhong, all of you here have a share. I plan to directly allocate a house to each of you according to the official position. If you really can't get it, wait until next year. Your original vacant house will be just right.

Let those who need it live."

"I have one too? Then I want to be a neighbor with Lao Feng..."

Tang Wei looked happy at first, then frowned and shook his head: "No, no, no... I'd better live with Yun Qi..."

Long Xiang smiled slightly: "Uncle Hui is right to think so. You lived here and you can't vacate the old house. Now this new house can accommodate eight or nine people in a squeeze, and a whole family can fit in it..."

"Hey, Yun Qi is right. I'm alone, so I won't join in the fun..." Tang Hui scratched his head and smiled naively.

Lu Su frowned and reminded: "Allocation based on position may easily involve the same problem as General Tang. If fewer people in the family occupy the big house, wouldn't it be a waste? How about allocating it to people who need him more?"

After hearing this, Long Xiang shook his head, and then said seriously: "Uncle Wei lives in Jun Sima Mansion and does not have his own house, but the other generals and Zuo Ke all have families. It is impossible to ask them to give up their new houses. Besides, they will follow me from birth to death."

, When doing good things, you should naturally give priority to your own people, otherwise who will be willing to help me in the future?"

"What does it mean to have clear rewards and punishments? Yun Qi is right to do this. No wonder the brothers are so convinced of you."
