Chapter 110 Ant Nest

Manager Li calculated in his mind that this transaction was still very profitable. At least it was expected to recover the cost in a short period of time. In addition, the investment amount was already a small number in his eyes, but the profit was very high, and it was worth his efforts. During the period of waiting for the reply from Kaifeng, Biandu, Wang Jinghui instructed Manager Li to manipulate Xingguo Bank and send various inspection personnel to collect various information to formulate the inn's action plan. In any case, Wang Jinghui would do this. If his father-in-law Zhao Shu refused to join the gang, with his name as his son-in-law, there would be any unsightly official who dared to come to his own land to fight the autumn wind, but if Zhao Shu could join the gang, he would do it together.

If you buy and sell, it is naturally the best choice. It is still expected to recover the cost within time. In addition, the investment amount is already a small number in his eyes, but the profit is very high, and it is worth fighting forward. During the period of waiting for the reply from Kaifeng, Biandu, Wang Jinghui instructed Manager Li to manipulate Xingguo Bank and send various types of inspectors to collect various information to formulate the inn's action plan. In any case, Wang Jinghui would do this. If his father-in-law Zhao Shu refused to join the gang, with his name as his son-in-law, there would be any unsightly official who dared to come to his own land to fight for the autumn wind. However, if Zhao Shu could join the gang and do business together, it would naturally be the best choice.

However, it may be because Wang Jinghui proposed to invite Yingzong Zhao Shu to "join" to do business together. After waiting for several days, Wang Jinghui did not receive an edict from his father-in-law. However, King Zhao Xu of Ying and Sima Guang wrote a letter. Zhao Xu's letter was relatively peaceful, and he just asked what Wang Jinghui thought about this matter, especially Sima Guang's letter seemed to have a bad tone. He believed that Wang Jinghui's move was quite suspicious of competing for profit with the people.

Originally, when Wang Jinghui was advancing this, he just wanted to find an investment gap for Xingguo Bank's wealthy funds, but the total investment was much smaller than expected after calculation, so he turned around and wanted to eliminate the wing soldiers. Fifty inns could have at least one thousand wing soldiers. After seeing Sima Guang's letter, Wang Jinghui knew that he had to find a righteous reason to explain this matter, otherwise he might lose some ministers who held the same view as Sima Guang.

It is possible to eliminate more soldiers from the land, which can be regarded as a open and upright reason, but after careful consideration, doing so does it really make people competing for profit with the people. Therefore, this reason is not important enough. When Wang Jinghui thinks of this slogan of "competing for profit with the people", he has a headache: since he married the princess of Shu Kingdom, he is not an ordinary person, and he can do whatever he wants to expand his industry. This is "competing for profit with the people", and he may be impeached by the censor.

However, even the censor would not easily cause trouble for himself. Although Wang Tao had a quarrel with Han Qi some time ago, he did not dare to say a bad thing about Wang Jinghui - the prince-consort is the chicken that lays golden eggs in the Song Dynasty. All officials in the court knew that the finance could not afford the money, but after the prince-consort gave the prince-consort to Yingzong Zhao Shu's mirror, the minister who had no hope for "year-end bonus" actually received the money at the end of the year. The prince-consort could not be offended unless it was absolutely necessary.

After thinking about the status of state-owned enterprises in the national industry in later generations, Wang Jinghui planned to try to use economic theory to explain the problems he is facing now. Economic theory is not his strength, but if you think about it in this era, your economic theory is probably the strongest person. As long as you can put your business in a "magnificent cloak" that conforms to the way of the saint, you will be able to overcome all obstacles and make all opponents shut up.

Wang Jinghui locked himself in the study for a long time, thinking hard about how to solve this "coat" problem, but his mind was like a mud. After all, in Chinese history, he used methods of suppressing business, and the status of merchants was the last. Although the Song Dynasty adopted a laissez-faire attitude towards business, the concepts formed by people over the past thousand years were unbreakable, especially the scholar-official class could be said to be a pathological contempt for the merchant class: the scholar-official class did not have its own industry, and rarely could be independent. Most literati had to rely on power to survive. Although the scholastic customs of the Song Dynasty were the best, they were inevitably fallen into this pit; the merchant class was opposite to the scholar-official class. They had low social status, but they had the economic independence ability that scholar-officials did not have.

Wang Jinghui even thought maliciously: "Haha, perhaps out of jealousy, scholars and businessmen are extremely despised by each other's shortcomings, but I really don't know how outsiders see me, a big businessman and the top scholar? It is a good thing for scholars to have backbone, but they still have no economic independence ability after all, and they still have to rely on power to survive. If scholars can use the financial resources of merchants to gain economic independence and speak freely about the gains and losses of the government and state affairs, and merchants can use scholars' mouths to protect their own interests, this is a beautiful idea, but it seems so far away. Isn't his Commercial Press also making attempts in this regard? "

No matter how much I think about it, the most important thing at the moment is to find an argument for my own point of view in the "Sage Book". Otherwise, those Sima Guang's favorites for him would have been reduced. After thinking for a long time, Wang Jinghui still started from the most beneficial aspects of the country and the people, and thus gave up the idea of quoting the words of the saint.

On November 8th of the fourth year of Zhiping, the fourth year of the Song Dynasty, after a winter snow, Sima Guang and King Ying Zhao Xu of King Zhao Xu received letters from King Jinghui of Chuzhou on this day. Although the two letters have different focus, they have similar meanings. However, these two letters have become the key footholds that influence the economic policies of the Song Dynasty for a long time, and have also made later historians and economists feel incredible about the wild ideas of the Song people at that time.

In his letter to the two of them, Wang Jinghui explained the relationship between state capital and private capital, and selected Emperor Wu of Han to use Sang Hongyang and others to make profits for the Han Dynasty as an example to explain in detail. Sima Guang is still in the early stage of writing "Zizhi Tongjian", but Wang Jinghui has read "Zizhi Tongjian" throughout, so he naturally knew what Sima Guang's evaluation of Emperor Wu of Han was in power: Emperor Wu of Han basically did the bad things that Qin Shihuang did. The reason why he did not destroy the country was mainly because of his comprehensive repentance and correction in the years before his death, and entrusting the funeral to the right people when he died.

Wang Jinghui believes that state capital must penetrate into the most important industries and occupy a certain share of the total economic volume in order to affect the direction of market prices. For example, grain production and trading, the country must also have its own grain production fields and circulation channels. After grain is put into storage, it is not simply disaster relief or to stabilize grain prices, but to trade grains according to actual needs and control grain prices within a reasonable range. Only in this way can we actively and effectively prevent those businessmen who are unwilling to hoard fish and meat and maliciously raise grain prices. This is not "competing for profit with the people", but to better ensure that people's lives are not affected.

In addition to advocating that state-owned capital should be properly intervened in the market, Wang Jinghui also advocated opening up state-monopoly industries and allowing private capital to intervene in the monopoly industries. This is a very controversial point, especially in national monopoly industries such as steel industry and salt production. However, in order to cater to Sima Guang's taste, he used Sang Hongyang monopoly on iron smelting, selling wine, making salt, and even fishing shrimp to implement state monopoly monopoly monopoly. This caused negative effects such as low product quality, decline in production, and high prices as examples. It pointed out that a small amount of private capital involved in national monopoly industries will help improve production levels, improve both quality and quantity, which will help stimulate the vitality of the market, and the court will also gain greater benefits in taxation.

In addition to the local discussion of state capital and private capital, the most lethal thing for Sima Guang and Ying Wang Zhao Xu was the "Business Theory" attached to Wang Jinghui. In this short and short strategy theory that Wang Jinghui described the fact to Sima Guang and others: the empire did not suppress or even encourage land annexation, how should the large amount of surplus labor be solved? If it is allowed to develop, it is difficult to say that they will not gather in the mountains and forests in the end. The better is to join the wing army. No matter which way out, it is not what the ruling class is willing to see. The only way is to let these surplus labor force join industry and commerce.

In his policy theory, Wang Jinghui quoted a lot of the current statistics of the Song Dynasty's finances. Industry and commerce contributed nearly three-fifths to the financial land. Industry and commerce will not be affected by natural disasters. The land is barren and fertile. Therefore, once a natural disaster occurs in the Song Dynasty, I only heard that a large number of farmers will flee the famine. I haven't heard that industrial and commercialists will also flee the famine. And a workshop can feed several people at least, and at most, it can feed the livelihood of thousands of people. Therefore, vigorously developing industry and commerce is to solve the increasingly fierce land annexation.

"The land is good." "Revised, the so-called "a gentleman speaks righteousness but not profit". With his talent, is there no other way except the method you mentioned in the letter?" Sima Guang wrote in the letter. Wang Jinghui made those "oil pressing chambers" and "textile chambers" in Chuzhou. Although Wang Jinghui eliminated nearly half of the soldiers in Chuzhou with these chambers of commerce, he felt a little uncomfortable. But for his great contribution to the Song Dynasty's finance, he turned a blind eye.

The prince-consort becomes bigger and bigger. This time he actually wants to pull the emperor into the water and do business together. As the chief censor, Sima Guang, of course, cannot sit idly by as the chief censor. "Mr. Junshi, the so-called "gentleman does not speak of profit". Students think that it is Confucius who refers to "nothing is beneficial to the country, and nothing is pursuing personal wealth and enjoyment benefits!" Therefore, although Guanzi vigorously developed industry and commerce when governing Qi, the country's national power became increasingly strong. This is why even Confucius valued Guanzi very much, so Guanzi could enjoy the Confucius Temple as the third saint of Confucianism.

. The students vigorously developed industry and commerce in Chuzhou also followed the teachings of the saints and made profits for the country and the people. The chamber of commerce established by the students not only absorbed many soldiers to save the country's fiscal expenditures and contributed huge taxes to fill the treasury, but also vigorously supported the education, transportation construction and other aspects of Chuzhou, and also made merchants themselves gain huge benefits. Students dare not compare with their predecessors, but they also had to follow the footsteps of their predecessors to benefit the country and the people. If students want such a 'profit', the saints will not object to... "

After seeing Wang Jinghui's reply, Sima Guang was also confused: Is it wrong to pursue the "saint's way" that he has pursued most of his life? But seeing the reply from the prince-consort is still clear. Obviously, such "speech" is correct. Don't say that he has no way to object, even if Saint Kong encounters this "Guan Zi Second" again, he will agree.

Although Wang Jinghui's letter gave Sima Guang a rough understanding of his ambitions, these alone were not enough to change Sima Guang's view, so Sima Guang also sent a letter again: "The money and everything produced by heaven and earth are fixed, not in the people, but in the officials. If the state capital intervenes in the market, wouldn't it be a competition for profit with the people? "" Mr. Junshi, the student secretly thought that all things were not born by heaven and earth, but were born in the hands of the people, and the wealth of the world is not fixed. The teacher has extensive knowledge and should know that today's prosperity has been born from all dynasties.

What you own? The amount of wealth is not given to heaven and earth, but determined by the market. When the market is infinite, the officials and the people will not seize the wealth of each other. Only when the market is certain will the "wind profits" happen as the gentleman said. But the market can be developed. For example, printing, Khitan, Xixia, and Goryeo printing techniques are not as good as those of the Song Dynasty, and the cost is low. Of course, they cannot compete with the merchants of the Song Dynasty. The court should actively guide this, develop new markets, and find sales for the Song Dynasty goods, so that wealth will continue to be generated."

Wang Jinghui didn't know where Sima Guang's theory of "the world makes money" came from. Zhao Xu also mentioned that people in this era may still be in the kind of way that the world's wealth will be fixed to a certain amount and will not change. Although he knew that this was a wrong idea, it could not be explained well, so he simply brought out the theory that the market determines the amount of wealth, which may be able to make it clearer. The most advanced economic thought in this era was Wang Anshi. Historically, he used credit loans to stimulate economic growth in the Xining reform. This method is indeed much stronger than Sima Guang. If Wang Anshi came to discuss this issue with him, maybe Wang Jinghui would not have to waste so much space.

After seeing the reply, Sima Guang still couldn't come back to his senses for a long time. This really had a great impact on him. From childhood to adulthood, he had never doubted the "Sage Word". But after seeing Wang Jinghui's reply today, he felt that this long-formed concept began to shake.

Unlike Sima Guang, King Zhao Xu of Ying discussed with Wang Jinghui during this period the reforms led by Sang Hongyang and others during the reign of Emperor Wu of Han. After seeing Zhao Xu's letter, Wang Jinghui was still very pleased. Zhao Xu seemed to be disgusted with Sang Hongyang and others' actions. He knew that Zhao Xu was completely different in history. Wang Anshi's Xining reform was completely a version of Sang Hongyang's Song Dynasty. There were land regulations that almost didn't even change, so they were moved here to use them.

Wang Jinghui did not believe that Zhao Xu did not know about Sang Hongyang's history. In history, the reason why Wang Anshi was appointed to adopt Sang Hongyang's method was helpless. Of course, he would not miss the opportunity to give Zhao Xu a vaccination: throughout the dynasties, it was easy for the state to rely on administrative power to compete with the people for commercial interests, but it was always a short-term behavior like Sang Hongyang, and the consequences were extremely serious. Only those bureaucrats who were from small vendors and were eager to please the emperor could come up with this bad idea of killing chickens and quenching thirst.

Wang Jinghui sent this letter that was defaming Sang Hongyang to King Ying Zhao Xu, but he was thinking: If Wang Anshi really could control the authority of the empire as he wished, if he wanted to promote the new law, the first obstacle he might encounter would be the emperor. I wonder what he would feel after reading this letter?

However, during this period, the article "Shang Lun" he wrote was widely spread among scholars. Wang Jinghui's strategy theory was rarely spread, and his reputation was far less than that of the honor brought to him by poetry. Therefore, when he heard that it was a strategy theory written by the son-in-law, all scholars would have to copy it. The editorial committee of the monthly magazine "Mei Xue" also published this strategy theory with the insistence of Sima Guang, Ouyang Xiu and others, and this article "Shang Lun" was spread.

Of course, the debate caused is indispensable, but fortunately, it was the policy theory recommended by Sima Guang, and he had previously written a detailed comment later, thinking that this was a valuable masterpiece. With Sima Guang first set the tone, so the opposition was not so strong. But even so, Wang Jinghui's "Shang Lun" also caused a wave in the Shilin. It is obvious that "Shang Lun" is a promotion of reputation for the merchant class, which makes traditional Confucian scholars feel very disliked. Some enlightened scholars also expressed Wang Jinghui's views. The two factions wrote articles to the editorial department of "Mei Xue" and selected excellent works to publish under the operation of the committee. For a time, "Shang Lun" became the most discussed topic among scholars.

However, the differences between the top leaders of the Song Dynasty were not so lively. Since Dong Zhongshu, Confucian rule has become the mainstream of China's national politics, but the Legalists did not disappear because of this. In addition to the wisdom of Confucianism, "Salt and Iron Theory" also reflects the glory of the Legalists. It can be seen that pragmatism is the mainstream of the ruling class, otherwise there would be no chance to perform on the historical stage. Yingzong Zhao Shu and several other people who understand the actual situation of the country racked their brains every day to fill the fiscal deficit. Just as the principle of whoever can solve the current difficulties of the Song Dynasty in history would be used to pay attention to the principle of whoever could solve the current difficulties of the Song Dynasty. Wang Jinghui is naturally the unscrupulous candidate, which is always much more humane than taking Sang Hongyang's approach.
