Five Twenty Armoured Mounts

Now that the conditions are more convenient and various resources are richer, Li Yeling is preparing to arm them again.

The one he chose for the heavy armored cavalry was the purple Greenwich heavy plate armor.

In his plan, the thickness of this plate armor reached as much as five centimeters - five centimeters, that is, fifty millimeters. This thickness of alloy armor, that is, some large-caliber machine cannons, can penetrate - this large-caliber means at least more than 20mm, which is far beyond the reach of ordinary heavy machine guns or rifles.

Even large caliber sniper rifles cannot penetrate such thick steel plates - no, maybe it is more appropriate to call them steel walls.

When the orc knights wear such heavy plate armor, they become steel fortresses one by one. When they launch a cluster charge, their power is similar to that of eight hundred tanks. Moreover, compared with the tank cluster, they are faster, more flexible, more stable, and more brainy.

In short, it can be considered that the fully armed orc knight is an intelligent light tank.

Whether the enemy is Wuyun City, Phoenix City, or the unknown large force in the south, its combat main body must be ordinary soldiers holding rifles, submachine guns, and machine guns. These soldiers are absolutely useless to these steel fortresses. And the large-caliber artillery, machine guns, and armored vehicles and tanks that can threaten them will be dealt with.

Their function is to charge! Charge! Charge again!

Tear the enemy's formation and slaughter them at will!

Of course, while this heavy plate armor brings strong defense, there will be many problems.

The first is weight.

As a plate armor for normal humans, the weight of the purple Greenwich heavy plate armor has reached 66 kilograms. If it is made for the orcs according to Li Yeling's requirements, the weight of each pair of armor will be more than a thousand kilograms. Humans can't even think about such a weight, but the orcs have nothing else, and they have the strength to wear such a set of armor, it should be fine. The mount under their crotch, even the most skillful Wind Demon Wolf, can carry hundreds of kilograms.

What's more, the larger the orc, the heavier the armor, the larger the mount, and the stronger the weight-bearing ability. For example, the most agile and fastest wind demon wolf, the werewolf's body is not much bigger than that of normal humans. At most, it is equivalent to O'Neal's level, so its armor is naturally much lighter.

So this problem is no longer a problem.

The second problem is the problem of flexibility.

People in the world think that wearing plate armor becomes very bulky, and even more so in the Middle Ages in Western Europe, the heavy armored knights needed to be hung up by cranes and placed on war horses, which is actually pure nonsense.

The fact is that the above statements are not correct. Whether it is wearing actual combat armor, martial arts armor or ceremonial armor, there has never been a knight in history who wants to be lifted on a horse with a crane.

The rumor that "a knight needs to use a crane to get on his horse" first appeared. According to the introductory popular science book Aknightandhisamour of old man Oakeshott, it appeared in a popular romance called "Whenknightisbold" in the late 19th century Britain. This rumor is widely spread because it conforms to the popular trend of thought that people in the Victorian era believed that everything in ancient times was ridiculous.

As for the only common picture on the Internet, which is often taken out seriously to prove that the Knights used a crane to ride on a horse because they wore heavy armor (see the two pictures at the top of the page), it is from the 1944 Shakespeare adaptation of the movie "Henry V" directed by Lawrence Oliver. This movie made the rumors of "Chamber Crane" more toxic. Interestingly, the film's historical consultant once vehemently opposed the director's addition to the scene, but the protest was fruitless.

This movie is adapted from Shakespeare's original work, but ironically, Shakespeare, as a man who is not completely unfamiliar with armor, described in his other play, Henry IV, the scene of a warrior wearing armored horse lightly without stirrups: "I saw the young Harry wearing armor, his tui-arms covering his two strands, and wearing magnificent military uniforms. It was like a winged McGrath rise from the ground and leaping leisurely onto the horse's back, like an angel descending from the clouds, taming a stubborn horse, and using his superhuman riding skills to dazzling the eyes of the world."

It can be seen that some modern people are much stupider than the ancients in some aspects, which is a very common phenomenon.

Another rumor is that the red-bearded Frederick the Great fell off his horse and drowned when he crossed the river because he wore a plate armor, and the river water was only half a person deep.

The first thing that wrong about this rumor is that the drowning of Red Beard was at the end of the 12th century, while the occurrence of Plate Armor was in the late 14th century. There is a 200-year gap between them. Unless Red Beard travels through time and space or a piece of Plate Armor travels to the past, it is impossible for him to drown.

Secondly, in the era of Red Beard, they were wearing chain mails that were considered lightweight. If the Red Beard was drowned, it means that armors all over the world, including China, would have the problem of "falling off the horse and not standing up".

Therefore, Li Yeling, who has a deep study of ancient history, also sneered at this statement.

From this point of view, Li Yeling's idea is completely feasible.
