Chapter 46 Go? Stay? (Part 1)

Chapter 46: Go? Stay? (Part 1)

Tangen stood in Wilford Lane covered with shade, with constant cicadas above his head. To the north is the youth team training base and to the south is the adult team training base. Now both training bases are quiet and can be considered deserted.

He knew that the adult team would not start formal training tomorrow, and the youth team was still on holiday now. There would be no one else in these two bases except the staff. For them, the long and beautiful holiday is not over yet.

Tang En walked in through the gate of the youth team training base. There was no car in the parking lot. The door of the office building was closed. The afternoon sun was exposed to the asphalt road. His feet were hot when he walked on it. Today may be the hottest day of the year.

He walked around the two-story building and walked to the side of the No. 1 field. There was indeed no one left. Field No. 1 and Field No. 3 are connected, and are separated by a barbed wire of up to seven meters in the middle. Tang En looked from a distance and there was no one on Field No. 3.

It seems that the youth team is still on holiday.

Tang En stood on the empty training ground. If he chose to stay, then this place would become his territory and Chris Lack would become his assistant again. But what is there to do in the youth team's game? Tang En felt a little depressed.

In his eyes, the sense of accomplishment brought by the youth team's victory is not as good as that of the adult team. He is used to the days of being paid attention to, so what if he leads the youth team to win the Youth FA Cup?

He looked at the stadium and decided to leave.

After exiting the main entrance of Field 1, it is a fork in the road. If you walk straight back to the gate and turn right, you will lead to the northernmost 2nd Field. The turf quality of Field 2 is not very good, and few people use it in normal times.

Tang En has a completely different relationship with others about the second court. He only visited the second court once after coaching the Forest Team. That experience occupied a very important position in his memory.

He met the cute Gavin, George Wood here and also gained his first fan.

That was Tang En's sadness, and the joy and sorrow in the second half of the 202-03 season began to turn from there.

Standing at the fork in the road, Tang En felt that all this seemed to be the choice he was facing now - walking forward, leaving this training base, leaving this sleeping forest; walking to the right... What does it mean to walk to the right?

Tang En looked at the path that stretched to the front, hesitated for a moment, and chose to go to the second field to take a look.

When he approached, he found someone on the field running back and forth between two conical markers.

George Wood!

Tang En really didn't expect that he would see him here again.

Is time back? Is it not June 27th, but March 21st? Well, it's still a little different, such as Wood doesn't have that coach, and Donn doesn't have Michael and his son Gavin.

He stood outside the barbed wire and watched Wood train quietly. Wood did not notice his existence. He continued to focus on doing the most basic exercises.

Donn stood and watched for about fifteen minutes. George Wood finally changed his training program. He put two cone markers together, just about half a meter away, and then stood five meters away and kicked the ball towards the cone markers.

Don Eun didn't understand what he was trying to practice for this. He didn't see such training programs in Chris Lark's youth team training or Walker's adult team training. He changed his mind and stayed - he wanted to see what happened.

Wood kicked ten shots, obviously not training to shoot, because he was deliberately suppressing his speed and strength to shoot.

Instead, he cares a lot about accuracy - if the football rolls over from the middle or outside of the two markers, he will shake his head, and if he hits the markers, he will clench his fists.

Then Wood changed his angle and repeatedly kicked ten shots at about forty-five corners of the marker. As before, most of them rolled past the marker, and they were able to finally hit the target few times.

Tang En looked at the distance between the two markers. Then he looked down at his legs and separated them slightly, about half a meter away, which was exactly the length of the distance between a person when he stood!

This kid is trying to practice passing by himself!

At the end of June, the hottest time of the year in Nottingham.

On the empty training ground, only George Wood was still busy training. The hot seasons, bad weather, relaxing holidays... were nothing to do with him, and because during the holidays.

He would not provide lunch alone in the base. He had to travel back and forth between here and his house several times every day. His training shirt was soaked with sweat many times, so he simply took off his clothes and hung them on the crossbar of the goal every time he started training.

Then train with your upper body naked.

The tight muscles seemed to contain extremely explosive power. As Wood's movement was released, sweat meandered down his angular body, and his whole body emitted dazzling light under the scorching sun.

George...If you can't succeed, then no one in this world can succeed!

In order not to disturb Wood's training, he quietly left the remote training ground surrounded by woods. Looking up at the sky, Tang En decided to go to a place at the end.

Nottingham is a city built on hills, with uneven terrain and varied.

Now the church in front of Tang is built on a hill. The brick-structured chapel is not as grand and exquisite as the famous St. Mary's Church in the city center. It is like the surrounding buildings, and is not very eye-catching.

But under the clear blue sky, this small church standing on the green grass makes people feel comfortable, and I feel calm just by looking at it outside.

Tangen walked around the church and followed a gravel road through the woods to the cemetery surrounded by forests.

Unexpectedly, a man stood in front of Gavin Bernard's tombstone.

"Michael!" he shouted loudly, breaking the quiet atmosphere of the cemetery.

The man turned around and found that the person who called him turned out to be Tang En, and he was also a little surprised. "Tony? What are you doing here?"

Tang En walked up and placed a bouquet of lilies in his hand in front of the tombstone. "I will do whatever you come here to do. It's been more than a month, how do you feel?"

Michael shook his head, his mood still not high. "Tony, I happen to meet you here. I plan to say goodbye to you..."

"Farewell?" Tang En smelled something wrong from the air. "What farewell? Where are you going?"

"Los Angeles. "

"America?!" Tang En screamed, "You are so far... Why?"

Michael looked at his son's tombstone and said slowly, "I forgot to tell you that my wife is American."

She couldn't bear the grief of staying here and thinking of Gavin all the time. Now Nottingham is sad for our family. She will think of the dead Gavin when she sees everything, the house, the yard, the street outside the door, the neighbors, and even the football game... I don't want her to cry all day long. I want to leave here and go back to her hometown.

Tang En frowned: "Where is Gavin?"

"Gavin is different from us." Michael squatted down, wiped off a few fallen leaves on the tombstone, and looked at the golden name on the white marble tombstone. "I can change my feelings for football for the sake of my family.

But he won't, he will always be a supporter of the Forest team, from life to death, all of them."

After saying that, he stood up again and said to Tang En, "You must be very happy, right? Don't be afraid that someone will scold you behind the coach's seat next season."

Donn smiled bitterly: "Michael, have you not even read the reports about football anymore? I was fired by the new chairman of the Forest team, and my agency contract expired."

Michael didn't expect that Tang En's answer would be this. He looked at Tang En for a long time in surprise and made sure that he was not joking. "It's really a hell... where else would you go? Youth team? Or..."

Tang En shook his head: "I asked myself countless times in two days for such a question, but I haven't gotten the answer yet."

"Are you here to find the answer?"

"I have no idea……"

"Tony, do you want to hear from an old fan who has followed the Forest forty-four years?"

Don looked up at Michael.

"Although I have decided to leave football, I will recall my first half of my life. The years that I miss the most are the ones you led the team in addition to the Clauve era.

You have some similarities, such as being passionate, paying attention to details, being talented, and having many conditions for success.

I still remember the day when Clauve came to the team was January 3, 1975, and you were January 1, just two days away.

What a pity, maybe we all missed a very legendary story…” Michael put his hand on Donn’s shoulder and patted him, then walked over to him.

"Goodbye, Tony."

"...Goodbye, Michael." Tang En stared blankly as the man's back gradually faded away.

After coming here for no reason, he fought with the man in the bar, and then they became good friends. In this strange place, Michael gave him a lot of help that he could not thank.
