Chapter 5 Sean is busy

(Happy New Year!)

Not having a chance to have a big meal, Sean tasted the delicious food on the street by himself.

It was not until nightfall that Sean returned to the Golden Oak Hotel. Andrew Johnson was waiting for him in the lobby.

He didn't feel embarrassed at all about betraying the news that Sean was here. He took out a gold-plated invitation and said:

"Mr. Connelly, Mr. Robert Palmer, President of Holy City University, has asked me to invite you to participate in a debate at the Medical Laboratory of Holy City University."

"Does this debate have something to do with me?" Sean asked knowingly, "I'm very busy. Please apologize to Mr. Principal for me. Besides, I'm not a scientist, so I'm sorry that I can't accompany you."

Sean answered very simply. Johnson was very surprised:

"Why don't you want to take such an opportunity? You will be considered a coward by others."

"Your understanding is correct, but I don't care." Sean shrugged.

Johnson shouted towards his back:

"Mr. Connery, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You have the opportunity to make a difference. Otherwise, you are just a civilian. A coward, a coward, or you are still a liar."

Sean turned around, walked back quickly, sealed Johnson's collar, and pressed the back of his head hard on the counter.

The waiter on the counter put his hands underneath, looking like he might pull out a pistol to rescue the young host.

"If you dare, say it again! I killed countless people on the battlefield, so take back your words immediately, otherwise I will make you look good."

Johnson was two years older than Sean, but he was frightened by Sean's stern expression at this time, and stammered:

"I...I...just...paraphrased...other people's...words!"

"What did they say?" Sean asked.

"They said that some people used heating to sterilize in the past. When boiling yeast soup, they heated the air in the bottle. What small animals need to produce yeast soup is natural air. You can't mix yeast soup with natural unused food.

The heated air is put together without producing yeast, mold, bacilli or critters!

They also said that yeast appears in every corner of the world, in every year of every century, from nowhere, turning grape juice into wine? These yeasts come from all over the world, turning milk in every tank into wine.

Where does the acid, the little creature that spoils the butter in every bottle, come from?”

"So, I need to prove that the bacteria came from the air?" Sean asked.

Johnson's eyes lit up and he said: "Yes, your words hit the nail on the head. Now I believe you really understand!"

Sean let go of his hand, straightened his clothes carefully, and said, "Andrew, I need your help."

"I currently have new ideas about my steam engine, but I need..." Johnson was reserved.

Sean readily took out twenty gold louis and said:

"Help me do a little thing, and this is yours. You see, this hotel is nice, and it belongs to the Johnson family, but it has nothing to do with you, and you really need the money to experiment with your dreams, don't you?"

"Come on!" Johnson snapped his fingers, "Tell me, I declare in advance that I will not do anything that violates the law and morality. This is my principle." Johnson said.

Sean asked the front desk clerk for a piece of paper and pen, and drew a sketch:

"Can such glassware be customized?"

Johnson took a look, nodded and said: "The shape is very weird, but it is not one percent as difficult as my steamboat. As long as you pay enough, any glass merchant can customize it for you."

Sean directly pushed the twenty gold louis in front of him:

"After this is done, I will pay you another twenty. After the utensils are made, you can send them directly to your principal. If there are still people who don't understand what I mean, then I will not go to this debate."

"I know, that was an experiment you would do when you were five years old, right? Besides, can you be so arrogant if you have money?"

"You are wrong. This is what I learned when I was six years old. Regarding the second point, you can be arrogant if you have money. This is what I heard from a factory owner this morning."

"Okay, I'll do it right away. Are you really not going to attend the debate?" Johnson nodded and asked again.

"I'm very busy." Sean waved his hand, "Go and do it quickly, or I will take back my gold Louis!"

Johnson immediately disappeared.

In the next few days, in addition to visiting the cultural monuments in the Holy City, Sean also went to the Holy City Library located next to the White House.

It was established during the Fourth Empire and has a history of three hundred years. At first it was owned by the church and only collected books related to theology. Only priests came here.

As modern natural science increasingly demonstrates its power, theological works will be pushed into corners in libraries.

As soon as you enter the door of the library, you can see a huge statue of a sage standing there. It is the personal statue of Campbell, the scholar who founded the heliocentric theory. He is stroking the books and looking into the distance.

An inscription is written on the base:

At first, people tried to use magic spells to make the earth fertile, to prevent poultry and livestock from being destroyed, and to prevent the born from premature death;

Later, we prayed to the gods not to send disasters and diseases, and burned our flesh and blood on the red altar;

Later, bold philosophers and sages appeared. They lifted the fog that shrouded the world and proved that nature should be like this.

Sean stood in front of this statue for a long time. The process of history is always similar, from barbarism to ignorance, and then to civilization. Some people are always remembered by history.

"This quote is very thought-provoking, isn't it?" A thick voice sounded. Sean replied and saw an energetic old man standing behind him.

"Excuse me, is this famous quote said by Mr. Campbell?" Sean asked.

"To be honest, I don't know. It is said to be from Campbell's students." The old man said, "I'm sorry, I noticed you have been standing here for half an hour."

"So long?" Sean was surprised by his actions, "Are you the curator here?"

"No, it should be said that I am the former director." The old man said with a smile, "I have worked here for twenty years. Over time, I have developed a special hobby. I like to observe everyone who walks in front of this statue.

People who have passed. I noticed that when you first came here, you stood here for an hour, and today you stood here for half an hour. Young man, what is your name?"

"My name is Sean Connery, you can call me Sean, Mr. Curator." Sean replied respectfully.

A trace of surprise flashed in the curator's eyes, and he smiled and said: "So, Sean, is this your first time coming to the Holy City?"

"Yes, I used to be a soldier. Now that I have retired, I just happened to come to the Holy City for a tour. I heard that this is the most intelligent place in the world, so I came to get some culture." Sean said.

"Oh, I thought he was a student from a certain university." The curator said, "Sorry, in the eyes of us laymen, soldiers are rude and unlearned. Yes, the army is just a tool, and tools should not have any

The ability to think.”

"No, no, Mr. Director, I think the army is not just a tool. The army should think about why it fights. For example, we are defending our homeland. An army with a common idea is invincible." Sean said,

"Another example is the Tithe War of the last century. The church temporarily formed an army of priests, but their combat effectiveness was astonishing."

"Then why did they lose the war?" the curator asked.

"Although they won most of the battles, they only lost one, and that was the battle for the hearts and minds of the people." Sean said, "Those who win the hearts and minds of the people win the world. When everyone is against the church, they lose.

"

"Yes, a famous saying from the Xia people. This sentence is very insightful." The curator nodded, "Xia's civilization was once countless times more advanced than ours, and now we are finally keeping pace with each other. In some aspects, we are even ahead, such as natural science."

"I heard that they suffered a lot in the last sea battle." Sean said.

"Yes, they are the giants of the sea. Although they have spread civilization, they have also grabbed too many benefits. Now they have also established their own universities. This time their delegation visited our country, and Kyoto was accompanying them.

President of the university.”

"Can I ask the name of their principal?" Sean asked.
