Chapter 1942

"Eat your food." Zhan Bei gave her a cold look.

Xiao Lingyue shrugged, not bothering to argue with him, lowered her head and continued eating.

The two of them ate noodles quietly.

After eating a bowl of steaming hot noodle soup, my empty stomach suddenly felt warm, and my whole body seemed to feel comfortable.

Xiao Lingyue drank the last mouthful of soup with satisfaction and put down her chopsticks.

Zhan Beihan had finished eating long ago. He sat aside and looked at her lazily with his chin in his hands. When he saw this, he asked, "Are you full?"

"Yeah." Xiao Lingyue nodded.

"Let's go when you're full." Zhan Beihan threw a few pieces of silver on the table and stood up.

At this time, a polite inquiry came from behind: "You two gentlemen, have you finished eating?"

The man turned his head and saw the old woman selling noodles, with a smile on her wrinkled face and looking at them with some restraint.

"Is something wrong?" Xiao Lingyue asked.

"It's like this. It's getting late now. My wife and I are going to close the stall. If you two gentlemen have finished eating, I'll collect all the dishes and chopsticks."

The old woman felt bad and waved her hand hurriedly: "But if you haven't eaten well, don't worry. It doesn't matter if it takes a while."

Xiao Lingyue glanced at the small table next to her and realized that all the other diners had finished eating and left. Only she and Zhan Beihan were left.

Over there at the small stove, the old man who had just been kneading dough also stopped and was lowering his head to pack his things. It seemed that he was getting ready to go home.

"It's not dark yet. It's still early before the curfew, right? Why don't you do business for a while and close the stall and go home so early?" Xiao Lingyue glanced at the sky and asked with some confusion.

The old woman said helplessly: "There is nothing we can do. My wife and I live in a village outside the city. It is several miles away from the city. If we don't close the stall early and go back, it will get dark halfway. We are also old and we can't walk at night.

If the road is not smooth, it will be bad if it falls."

"So that's it." Xiao Lingyue nodded in understanding.

She stood up and said with a gentle smile: "We have finished eating, so I won't waste your time closing the stall. The noodles are delicious."

"Really? As long as the young master likes it." The old woman couldn't help but smile, and the wrinkles on her face relaxed.

"The money has been put on the table." Xiao Lingyue nodded and left with Zhan Beihan.

The old woman stood there, watching the two people walk into the crowd, and then turned around with some trembling to clear the table.

Seeing a few shining pieces of silver on the table, the old woman was stunned and weighed it in her hand. There were five taels in total.

Two bowls of plain noodles only cost twelve cents, which is very cheap.

These five taels of silver were enough to buy their small noodle stall.

"Oh, this, this is too much! You two gentlemen." The old woman turned around hurriedly and wanted to call someone, but among the crowds of people coming and going on the street, where could there be two figures?

Xiao Lingyue and Zhan Beihan walked in the crowd and asked him with a low smile: "Those two bowls of noodles should be quite cheap, why did you pay more for them?"

Zhan Beihan glanced at her: "Nothing."

Xiao Lingyue joked: "You can't bear to see a couple at such an old age setting up a stall and doing business, right?"

When did he have such kindness?

"Do you think it's possible?" Zhan Beihan asked angrily, with a vague suspicion.

Xiao Lingyue seemed to have thought about it seriously, but she still couldn't help but broke out and laughed.

She shook her head teasingly: "I don't think it's possible either."
