Volume 10, Battle for Domination Volume 72, Capture the Crown Pearl

.

After a long time, after the brave attack of the Chinese army, the province that had been invaded for a year and returned to the embrace of the Chinese Empire. With Australia, China has completely separated Britain and the United States, and the next thing is to slowly deal with these enemies.

What is surprising is that due to the good estimates of the future between the United Kingdom and the United States, Australia was vigorously developed by them as a rear base. The most advanced steel mills, shipyards, and arsenals were all built in Australia, but now these things have become the things of the Chinese Empire. In addition to the dozens of warships sunk in Victory Bay, Britain and the United States felt sad after "leasing" Australia for a year, they found that the rent of the cruel landlord was too expensive!

However, it was too late to regret. After a brief rest, Zhao Gang turned his attention to Singapore. As the dividing line between the Malay Peninsula and the Indian Ocean, Singapore, known as the "Far East Gibraltar", guards the entrance and exit of the Malacca Strait, the main shipping route between the Pacific and the Indian Ocean, and is also a natural barrier to block China's entry into South Asia.

The British Empire has been operating in Singapore for many years, and its Zhangyi Naval Base is even more extraordinary. However, since the war between World War II, Britain has no energy to take care of this territory. Although its deployment in Singapore has been strengthened repeatedly, it is still not enough to resist the attack of the Chinese.

In fact, after asking the Chinese to seize the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), which produces oil, Singapore has no strategic significance. It can completely bypass Singapore from the Kra Canal. Britain's persistence in Singapore is more of a determination, but this determination only reflects the hypocrisy of the British. For the sake of the British ground, it sacrifices more than 100,000 defenders!

The Chinese army immediately launched a battle against Singapore, and the troops were divided into two groups: one was the 13th Army of the Northwest Army of the South Asian Province by land. Entered the Yuetai Province from land and headed south along the Malay Peninsula; the other was the 5th Central Army, landing from the sea in batches. In order to support the landing operation, the Chinese Navy was responsible for cover with the special Malay fleet commanded by Lieutenant General Zhao Mingxing, which was under the jurisdiction of the latest battleship aircraft carrier 3 and frigates. Lieutenant General Baolong returned to the capital due to an emergency. According to Meng Xinghong's bad speculation, it was probably that he had gone back to the capital to open a tavern!' The facts were almost the same. As soon as Zhang Baolong returned to the capital, he married the eldest princess of the empire like lightning, and since then the prince and the princess lived a happy life. Lieutenant General Zhang Baolong was appointed by Major General Meng Xinghong.

On the same day as Team Z arrived in Singapore, 54, the Chinese mighty landing fleet set sail from Sanya, Hainan and headed towards the Malay Peninsula. On the 56th, the landing fleet turned northwest and pretended to head to Bangkok, claiming to replenish fuel in Bangkok. On the morning of the 57th, British reconnaissance planes discovered Chinese warships, and the British army judged that the Chinese army would first land in Singapore.

In fact, even fools can see the real purpose of this so-called supply fleet.

58, 1917.: Landed in Kota Balu under the cover of fork fire. Two hours later, the Chinese landing part repelled the defenders of Kota Balu and controlled the first beachhead of the new Chinese empire. Then the landing troops of Songkhla and Peking University also successfully defended their positions.

After landing troops from all over the country came ashore, they quickly seized nearby airports. After 8 days, the Chinese air force carried out multiple air strikes on the airports and Singapore aviation bases that had not been occupied by their ground forces, and the British Empire's air force had been completely lost.

On the afternoon of the 58th, Lieutenant General Phillips led Team Z to risk his voyage without air cover and the enemy situation was unknown. On May 10, the z fleet finally had a bad luck. The Chinese 22nd Air Force sank the Prince of Wales and the Counterattack in 2 hours. The main force of the Far East Navy no longer existed. The last tiger was pulled out.

Although the name of the 13th Army of the Northwest Army is very unlucky, since the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the Northwest Army is well known, and the 13th Army is the elite unit of the Northwest Army. Its main force landed from Songkhla, Beida Nian and other places. Then it penetrated southwest of the Malay Peninsula, and then advanced south along the west coast. The restraining team landed from Godabaru, and then headed south from the east coast of the Malay Peninsula. Two Chinese troops rumbled south with the support of medium-sized tanks and air force, and most of the Chinese armies were equipped with bicycles.

On 511, the 11th Division of India, commanded by General Heath of the British Army, first exchanged fire with the Chinese army. Although the Indian army had a three-to-one advantage in number, the troops were very poorly trained and had a slightly stubborn equipment. "The unity consciousness between officers and soldiers was almost zero", so the result of such an army confronting China's most elite troops is conceivable.

On the 519th, the Road Forces team occupied the British Air Force Base on Penang, reducing the possibility of air support to the Malay Peninsula defenders from India and Myanmar. The main force of the West Road went south quickly along the west coast. The East Road forces captured Kuantan on 521, 1917 and then advanced towards Johor.

"The shadow of the defeat spreads among the British army like a plague, and the retreat soon becomes uncontrollable, and more and more equipment falls into the hands of the Chinese army. The Chinese air force can load British fuel at British airports and throw British bombs on British positions. Chinese infantry ride bicycles to chase the retreating British Allied forces. They are three in a row, talking and laughing, as if they are going to watch football games. Hundreds of wheels gather in a noisy manner, and the retreating Indian army is extremely frightened, thinking that tanks are chasing them."

(The scorching roads on the Malay Peninsula caused the bicycle tires to burst quickly. Chinese soldiers simply stripped the rubber tires and rode them with only steel rings. The sounds of thousands of such bicycles are indeed a bit like tanks.)

In late May 1917, British reinforcements arrived in Singapore, including the 50th British Hurricane fighter. Since most of the Malay Peninsula was lost, the former was not enough to transport it to the front line; and due to training and equipment issues, the latter was defeated again in the confrontation with the Golden Eagle. On June 1917, General Pasival ordered a final retreat to Singapore.

612, the British army blew up the dam of the strait that connected Singapore and Johor, and Singapore became a real island.

"There are more cannons than the grapes in the Christmas pudding to defend Singapore." A London newspaper has vividly dispelled readers' worries about Singapore's future. But according to Churchill's words, "Singapore's lack of land defense is equivalent to a bottomless super battleship!".

However, they all ignored one point, or selectively ignored one point. Singapore's defense is aimed at maritime attacks, and only a very small number of shore artillery can be rotated at a large angle, so it is useless to deal with the subsequent landings. At this time, there were about 120,000 British and Indian coalition forces in Singapore. Although the food and ammunition were sufficient, in front of the advantageous Chinese army, the soldiers were depressed, without air control, and the sea power was controlled.

A week after renovation, the Chinese army let out a deadly roar at Lion City. In the morning of June 1917, the Chinese artillery and aviation forces bombed the artillery positions, airports and other facilities on Singapore Island. Subsequently, the Chinese army pretended to land in the open area in the northeast corner of Singapore, preventing the 18th Division, the main British army guarding in the northeast, from mobilizing to other places.

On the night of 621, the 13th Army of the Northwest Army, the main force of the Chinese army, landed in a assault boat on a bush and swamp west of the long dike. The tired and neglected Indian runner-up guarded here. After the Chinese army landed, it began to establish and consolidate the landing field. Then the Guard Division also moved westward and landed on the landing field.

The 3 elite divisions of the Chinese army advanced south side by side. By February 14, the Chinese army successively occupied the Magaoland, because of the Baoding Reservoir and Garland Airport and other important places, and caused three sieges to the city, and at the same time stepped up air strikes. On February 15, a week after the Chinese army landed, Pasival signed an unconditional surrender letter, and this "first strong city in the East" fell into the hands of the Chinese army.

"The most painful catastrophe in British history, the largest surrender, is in Singapore." Churchill once pointed out sadly. Pasir spent 9 hours and finally handed over the Lion City, which the British Empire painstakingly managed, to the Chinese Empire. The main reason for its passive strategy, but the mistakes in defense tactics cannot be ignored. Britain did not give up on Singapore, but Singapore was still trapped for a week. From this point of view, Pasir is much worse than MacArthur, who defended the Philippines.

War is like a gambling, but it is not as purposeful as gambling. But what is frustrating is that the opponent has endless bargaining chips. Even Pasir knows that the greatest significance of his surrender is to complete his own life. Facing millions of troops, he has no chance of victory. Then, the Chinese army held a unique surrender ceremony:

Let tens of thousands of prisoners of war stand on both sides of the road to welcome the Chinese army playing triumphant songs into the city. Most of these people saw the end of the war, which was luckier than the US army in Victory Bay. Saving their lives when there was no hope of struggle, perhaps this is the meaning of giving up.

After Singapore fell, the door to India was opened, and the jewel in the crown of the British Empire had already shown dangers.
