Chapter 15 The Breath of the Undead
When Captain Sack and Captain Turner finished discussing, Captain Turner greeted the others and called Likawi from the mercenary team to explore the way forward first, and then confirmed the place where he would camp tonight.
After resting in the team for a while, Captain Sack greeted everyone again. Because the weather was cooler than noon, it was a good time to rush, so even though everyone was already rushing continuously, there were no complaints now and they all got up to follow.
Brandon and Captain Sack were walking ahead, both as a way of exploration and as a result of the druid's perception, they were much stronger than ordinary warriors in the forest.
Brandon and Captain Sack were also familiar with each other along the way. After looking around for a while, they turned around and asked softly: "Captain Sack, based on your experience, what might be happening to the goblins?"
"It's hard to say what's happening now." Captain Sack responded with a wry smile.
"Is the situation bad?" Sack's nephew Hart, a level 2 warrior.
"From the experience of previous years, we should have encountered many goblins on the way. Although there are many goblins killed this year, they are nothing compared to the entire goblin tribe." Sak turned to look at his nephew and said seriously: "But now you see that we haven't encountered a single goblin yet. This is so abnormal!"
"Maybe the goblin tribe has been forced by the Baron's reward order and has moved away by itself." Hart said casually.
Captain Sack obviously did not expect Hart to say this. He was stunned, and turned to a little helpless and annoyed: "The Lords near the Thorn Forest, there are people who issue reward tasks for goblins every year. Do you see that goblins have moved away?"
But Sack wasn't trying to teach Hart a lesson, his tone gradually became gentle: "Do you know how many years have the goblins been here?"
Hart obviously felt that he had said something wrong, and his casual temperament was a little restrained: "I don't know, Uncle Sack, how many years have the goblins been here?"
"I don't know either, but I know that my grandfather was already here when he was young." Sack then walked forward with big strides.
Brandon felt a little depressed when he heard this, but he paid more attention to the movements in the forest. When things were too abnormal, it was difficult for you to expect it to develop on the better side.
Fortunately, when it was almost dark, Brandon and the others met the return Captain Turner and his teammate Likawi. Captain Turner brought back a not-so-god news. A group of goblins appeared in the camping position that was originally planned, with about 50. Captain Turner also found more than a dozen bear goblins among the group of goblins.
This is not a team that has been traveling all day and can easily defeat, so Captain Turner rushed back and gathered with the team to avoid the team colliding with the goblins and fighting together.
After hearing what Captain Turner said, Sack was relieved. It seemed that he didn't know how to deal with the situation that was too abnormal during the day, but now things have returned to what he is good at.
"How far are we from those goblins now?" Captain Sack asked Turner.
"It's about half an hour away." Captain Turner answered the question without thinking much.
"It seems we can't move forward. We will camp nearby at night." Captain Sack said, then raised his right hand and said loudly: "Let's find nearby to see if there is a suitable place to camp."
The camping place was quickly found. Everyone unloaded some supplies on the horses, started to set up two tents, and made some simple traps around the camp. They raised a bonfire in the middle of the camp. The fire was cooked with prey that was cooked on the road. After simple treatment, they put it in the pot. When they drank the delicious broth, Brandon felt that the day's journey was over.
Captain Sack and Captain Turner arranged the guards on the night, and went to remind their team members: "Everyone should have a break early, and you may have to fight with the goblins tomorrow morning! If you catch a few operatives, you may be able to understand the current situation."
Although Brandon was not on the night-time list, he did not go into the tent to rest, but meditated outside. When he was performing druid meditation in the forest, his perception was more acute.
At dawn, Brandon suddenly felt a breath that made him feel uncomfortable.
Brandon stood up and found Captain Sack's location: "Captain Sack, there is something wrong!"
"Is something wrong? Brandon." Captain Sack held his sword and rested on a tree.
"There is a breath of death." Brandon reported.
"The breath of death?" Captain Sack was a little puzzled.
"I think it's the undead!" Brandon's specific direction was clearer.
"The Undead?! You said it was the Undead that appeared near us!" Captain Sack's face looked a little ugly, as if he had thought of something bad: "Is there a lot of numbers? Can you sense the distance?"
"There is still a relatively long distance, and there is no large-scale movement. The number is unclear, but it will not be very small, because the breath is very messy and it will not be a powerful individual." Brandon answered Captain Sack's question, and pointed his hand in the direction when Captain Turner returned, adding: "I feel it was transmitted from that direction."
Sack looked at the sky near dawn: "Okay! Brandon wakes up Turner and let's discuss how to do it together."
Turner was also surprised after hearing Brandon's introduction, but he was also an old adventurer, so he was in a stable mood. He looked at Captain Sack and said slowly: "Let the warriors take a break as much as possible. After the sun comes out, we will rush over and see the situation." He said that, turning his head to look at Brandon: "Now you have to rely on you to perceive the direction of the uninterrupted undead creatures, Brandon Druid."
Brandon nodded: "This is what I should do!"
Fortunately, after a period of time, the death energy did not approach the team, but began to stay away from the team, but Brandon's face was not good-looking because it was their destination, the direction of the Goblin Tribe.
The sun rises.
Sack and Turner led the team to the campsite occupied by the group of goblins last night. Looking at the scene in front of them, everyone's faces were a little unsightly.
Blood was scattered everywhere on the ground, some limbs that originally belonged to goblins, and many bones covered with negative energy. Brandon guessed that they were from skeleton soldiers.
But with so many blood stains and a large number of bones belonging to the undead, where did the goblins' corpses go?
When things came to this point, it was already possible to imagine what happened to those goblins last night. Even Brandon had some bad guesses about what happened to the goblin tribe.
Captain Sack was quite calm in the face of these things. He turned around and shouted to everyone: "We accepted Baron Rons' mission, the mission must be completed, but we all know the number and rough combat power of those goblins yesterday."
Captain Sack paused at this point, looked around, and continued to say loudly: "So our current goal is to figure out what is going on here in the goblin!" His tone turned a little low: "Instead of destroying them, or destroying the undead..."
