Chapter 5 Miracles

Between the mountains, a river flows slowly from west to east. A fleet sails on the river, and each ship has long oars at the stern, like tadpoles lined up in a long line, moving up against the current and moving slowly.

A song rang in the fleet, echoing in the valley, fluttering.

But it is a Poyang fisherman's song.

Li Li, who followed everyone, was now "off break", looking at the green mountains on both sides, gurgling water, and long fleets, feeling the wind blowing towards them, very comfortable.

I reached out and picked up a handful of river water from the side and drank it. I felt the coolness and sweetness. I looked down at the fish swimming in the water, looked up at the flying birds and birds, listened to the various calls on the mountains on both sides of the shore, and remembered a poem.

I left Baidi among the colorful clouds in the morning and returned thousands of miles of Jiangling in one day.

The monkeys on both sides of the shore can't stop crying, and the light boat has passed thousands of mountains.

This situation is just right for the last two sentences, but the starting point and the end point are different.

While he was feeling, the ships in front of him were docking one after another, and the ship where Li Li was located was also quickly leaning on the shore. When he got ashore, the vanguard team had already been on the shore to pick wood and make fire.

There were also many soldiers fishing by the river, fishing, and they were skillful in their movements and gained a lot.

Of course, they are skilled in the movements. Everyone is a hero from Pengli Lake who relies on water to eat. Isn’t it a piece of cake to make fish?

There were more and more ships gathered on the shore, but they were orderly and not crowded together in chaos. Li Li watched the soldiers who went ashore to rest and had a full of confidence.

Soldiers are very fast, so the strategic initiative that we finally got cannot be wasted.

But fighting is not a joke. To open up the situation, you have to pay a price and bear risks. The greater the profit you want, the greater the risk you have to bear.

For example, when they attacked this time, they carried dry food with them, but because their individual weight was limited, they did not carry much dry food. Then fishing and hunting along the way were inevitable means to replenish supplies.

Dry food should be kept at critical moments, so eat fish first.

The smell of grilled fish spread. Liang Jun soldiers ate grilled fish and sang songs. The atmosphere was very lively, as if the fatigue of rushing the boat for days had disappeared without a trace.

Li Li walked around, sat on a rock by the river, ate grilled fish, looked at the river in front of him, and thought about strategy.

If Wei State is compared to a person, then at this time, this person sits north and south, stretches his arms, and his chest is Guanzhong.

He grabbed Shu with his right hand and Hanbei region (as later known as the Nanyang Basin) left and right. In front of his chest were Liangzhou Hanzhong and Dongliangzhou Ankang.

Due to the influence of the terrain, it is difficult for this person to take care of each other with his left and right hands.

Then, this is an opportunity.

The main force gathered in the Liang army in Yongzhou on the south bank of the Han River, and the Sizhou troops in the east were able to assist in the battle. When they rushed to the north, they could suddenly capture the left hand of Wei.

The opponent could not pull his right hand to rescue him, so he could only "luck" (scheduling troops) from his chest (Guanzhong) to improve the strength of his left hand. Then, Liang Guo only needs to use the elbow of the man's left arm as the point of falling knife to cut off half of his arm.

This is a good strategy. The so-called left arm is the Wuguan Road that connects Guanzhong and Jingxiang areas in reality.

Elbows are some dangerous places on Wuguan Road, such as Shangluo.

So, how should this strategy be implemented?

If you take the land route, you have to take down Rangcheng, the core of Hanbei, and then enter the Wuguan Road west. Before that, the reinforcements of the Wei Kingdom must have rushed out of Wuguan Road and fought the Liang army in the Nanyang Basin, which is easy to attack and difficult to defend.

If this is the case, the Liang army cannot hold on because its combat effectiveness is still a bit poor: the cavalry is at a disadvantage.

Therefore, you can only walk on the water.

From Hanzhong to Xiangyang, there are Han Rivers connected. There are many tributaries in the Han River section, which originate from the mountains on both sides of the north and south.

In the upper reaches of Xiangyang, there is a tributary of the Han River, called Danshui. Upstream of Danshui, passing through Shangluo on Wuguan Road.

Therefore, since ancient times, from Guanzhong to Jingxiang, there are two roads: water and land. The water route is the Danshui River channel and the land route is the Wuguan channel.

The Danshui River and Wuguan Road are often close to each other, so during the rainy season, some sections of the road are easily flooded and inconvenient to pass.

Shangluo is one of the transportation places where water and land meet.

When the army coming from Guanzhong arrived in Shangluo, they could continue to take the land route, or board the boat and take the Danshui River, go down the river, enter the Han River, and arrive in Xiangyang.

Or you can also land at some point along the way at the intersection of water and land.

But it is said that Danshui shipping is not very developed. If you really want to do this, you have to temporarily build a large number of ships and recruit people as ship workers. Therefore, when you travel to Wuguan Road, you basically go by land.

Similarly, if you enter Guanzhong from Jingxiang area, you can also take the Danshui water route, sail against the current to Shangluo, and then go to Guanzhong by land.

However, the entire waterway is about six or seven hundred miles away, and it takes a long time to go upstream. There are many villages, cities and passes along the river section close to Wuguan Road.

It is impossible to attack by water.

Li Li quickly finished the grilled fish, everyone rested for a while, and started working.

Many soldiers rolled up their trousers and turned into boaters, pulled the hemp rope, and dragged the boats upstream.

Before the rainy season comes, there are many shallows in the river section here, and only by pulling fibers can the ship pass through.

Then continue to rock the boat and go upstream.

The Poyang fisherman's song started again, and countless people sang songs, shouted horns, stepped on the mud by the river, and pulled the ships upstream.

Li Li, who has always been the leader, personally led his subordinates to attack. At this time, he also became a boatman, with a hemp rope on his shoulders, and used all his strength to drag the boat forward with his companions.

As I walked, a magical song suddenly sounded in my ears.

"Sister, you take the bow of the boat, and your brother walks on the shore..."

"Yeah, love, the rope is swaying..."

......

The rain was pouring, and the world was covered with whiteness. The marching teams on the mountainside could not move forward, so they could only find a place to shelter from the rain.

In a rain shelter, Li Li looked at the steep hillside and the vague path, and was a little worried.

After a closer look, I found that the vegetation on the hillside was dense, so I felt a little relieved.

At this time, I am most afraid of landslides or mudslides. If I really encounter it, it will be annihilated in a moment.

Even if you escape a disaster, it will be difficult to move forward once the road is destroyed.

Suddenly a thunder blew up above his head, scaring Li Li. The same was true for everyone else. The young guide beside him was so scared that he knelt on the ground, his hands folded, and muttered something in his mouth, as if he was praying for something.

After a while, the rain weakened and there was no thunder sound. It seemed that there would be no danger.

But the rain was still falling and I couldn't leave immediately. Li Li decided to take a rest.

It is easy to catch a cold when marching in the rain. There is ginger during this marching, so you can cook ginger soup at any time. Li Li drank a few sips of ginger soup and felt that his body was warm.

Looking at the mountains in front of me, the path that was already blurred in the rain, I thought of a story.

Ziwu Strategy.

The strange strategy of Ziwu refers to the Three Kingdoms period. During the Shu Han general Wei Yan advocated that he would lead the elite troops to leave Ziwu Valley and attack Chang'an in surprise, and then the main force of the Han army arrived.

This plan has great risks, but has extremely high returns. It is extremely courageous and risky to attack Chang'an with elite troops on Ziwu Road and then swallow the entire Guanzhong in one fell swoop.

However, Prime Minister Zhuge Liang thought this plan was extremely dangerous and difficult to succeed, so he abandoned it and ignored it.

In the eyes of many people in later generations, this is a pity, because the national strength of Shu Han is at an absolute disadvantage compared to Cao Wei, and cannot be defeated head-on, and it is impossible to consume it. It is only possible to turn the situation around with a strange plan.

There are many different opinions on whether Ziwu Qiming is a historical fact (did Wei Yan propose it), but due to the influence of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Ziwu Qiming is very famous.

Li Li heard people discussing it and believed that this strategy is too variable and the chance of success is extremely low.

To succeed in Ziwu’s strategy, the following must be achieved:

First, the elite Han army was able to pass through the rugged Ziwu Road in a short time without being noticed by the Wei army.

Second, the elite Han army arrived outside Chang'an City, and the defenders were frightened and fled without fighting, and Chang'an surrendered without fighting.

Third, the main force of the Han army rushed out of Shu Road and entered Guanzhong. Before the Wei army entered Guanzhong, they arrived in Chang'an and joined the surprise elites.

Each of these three points has great variables, especially the second point, which is incredible to place the hope of breaking the city on the Chang'an guards who were scared and fled without fighting.

Li Li believes that the more links a plan, the more variables it will be, and the more likely it will fail. There are too many variables in Ziwu Qiming, and the chance of success is extremely low.

Many people in later generations felt sorry for Ziwu's strange plan, but they only knew the result: Zhuge Liang devoted his efforts and died before he could succeed. Shu Han still failed to break into Guanzhong and revived the Han Dynasty.

If I had known this, it would have been better to have a gamble.

This kind of mentality is similar to: I used my savings to open a store to do a serious business. I worked hard for many years and didn’t make a fortune. It would be better to use all my savings to buy lottery tickets and gamble.

Thinking of this, Li Li fell into deep thought as he watched the heavy rain.

The mountainous areas are already rainy, but now it is late spring and early summer, and the rain is getting more and more, so it is nothing strange when it rains, as he expected.

But this is the case, the itinerary will inevitably be delayed and the variables will increase.

After a while, the rain stopped and the soldiers who had rested for enough continued to move forward.
