Chapter 6 Mary (7)
Hestein and others waited outside for a long time before the door opened again. The old man walked out of the room with empty hands and made a "please" action.
"Miss Mary promised to see you. Please put your weapons at the door. When you walk in, whisper and don't startle Miss Mary."
The Duke's son walked in first, and Hestein followed in.
There was a faint fragrance floating in the room, and a translucent curtain divided the room into two parts. On the other end of the curtain was a bathhouse, which was steaming hot.
A petite blonde girl was sitting lazily in front of the curtain drinking tea. This was Mary. She was wrapped in a white bathrobe, with red skin and wet hair, obviously not long after she crawled out of the bathhouse. Josephine stood behind her and took care of her hair. Another maid knelt in front of her and helped her put on boots made in sterling silver.
"There are many guests who have recently come to Versailles, but not many of them have brought gifts to me. However, I don't like the gifts you give at all. Is this really a gift for me?"
Mary put the teacup he had finished drinking and then looked at Hestein and his group with dissatisfaction. Her eyes swept past the son of the Duke of Normandy, but when she saw Hestein, she raised her eyebrows: "It's you?"
The Duke's son looked back and forth between Mary and Hestein: "You know each other?"
But Mary said to the maid behind her, "Josephine, look up, do you know this person?"
Josephine looked up and saw Hestein's face, and the comb in her hand fell to the ground in fright.
Hestein couldn't help but shake his head - although he didn't know Josephine, most of the maids serving Mary in Versailles were robbed from all over the place and sold to the Earl of France. If Josephine didn't know him, that would be a small probability event.
"To be honest, I robbed Paris when I was a pirate," he explained to the duke's son. "The sister of this Count of Ile-de-France was almost tied back to the pirate kingdom by me, and she was only a little bit."
Before reaching a "cooperation" with the Count of Ile de France, Hestein did take people to snatch Paris.
"What did you say???"
The duke's son was shocked - he thought Hestein was a mercenary in the pirate kingdom, but he knew that she had such a festival with Mary!
He was afraid that Mary would misunderstand that he had colluded with the pirates, so he quickly explained: "I have never heard him mention this matter! I brought him as a mercenary. As long as you give me the order, I will take him now..."
"Miss Mary." Josephine said to Mary in a low voice, "This Hestein was the lord of Zeland before, but I heard that he led his troops to defeat Ragna a few years ago and has become the pirate king of the pirate kingdom."
"Sea, pirate, king?"
These words floated into the duke's son's ears, and his body suddenly turned into a stone sculpture, and the remaining half of the sentence was blocked in his throat.
But this reaction made Mary laugh happily:
"The gift is not very good, your performance is quite interesting. Forget it, no matter whether the Pirate King or the Pirate King is, tell me, this time I want me to help you?"
"I came to find your brother, but I didn't see it." Hestein said bluntly, "Originally, I wanted to talk about joining hands to deal with the Tianfang Empire."
"Treat the Tianfang Empire." Mary leaned on her chin and pondered.
"Miss Mary." Josephine reminded, "Not long ago, the messenger of the Tianfang Empire came to find the consul, asking him to send troops to deal with the pirate kingdom."
"I know. So I'm thinking." Mary thought for a while, then raised her head, "Or what if I arrange for you to meet with the messengers of the Tianfang Empire. You two groups of people will argue by themselves. Who will come to me if they win the argument?"
"This... this is absolutely not possible!" The Duke's son waved his hand in fear, "We are here this time, avoiding the will of the Tianfang Church all the way, and don't let them know that we are talking about the alliance!"
"No?"
Mary's eyes wandered on Hestein and the Duke's son. Suddenly, she clapped her hands as if she had thought of something fun: "How about this - you have heard of it too, the Duke of Aquitaine was preparing for a competition to choose a son-in-law?"
Hestein and the Duke's son looked at each other, not knowing what Mary meant.
"I heard...what happened?"
"I happened to have something to do with someone with great martial arts skills. I originally planned to take advantage of this martial arts competition to find the champion of the day. Since you are here, how about you attend the conference?"
Mary looked at Hestein with interest.
"Whoever wins the championship will give me the matter to do. Then, as long as I help me finish that matter, I will agree to any of your requests, how about it?"
"What's the matter?"
"Secret. Let me tell you when you win the championship." Mary laughed innocently, "Since it's that pirate king, it shouldn't disappoint me, right?"
——"No, mercenaries cannot register."
Sivaton, who was thrown down by Ella, rejected Hestein with a numb look on her face. A sentence that formed a conditioned reflex automatically floated out of her mouth because she repeated it too many times:
"The only persons who can register are limited to the nobles with territories, the nobles who can inherit the territory, and the noble knights without territories. None of the other persons are qualified to participate..."
She is an Aztlanese and does not understand the affairs of the pirate kingdom. She really treats Hestein as a mercenary.
"What are you talking about," said the Duke's son, "he is a pirate..."
Hestein glared at him, and the duke's son realized that there were still many people watching around him, so he quickly swallowed the word "king" into his mouth.
"There are no pirates." Sivaton replied simply and neatly.
"Forget it, I'll find another way." Hestein said, pushing the duke's son forward: "He is a nobleman, he'll sign up."
"If you win, you have to marry into a marriage, that is, your children's surnames follow your mother." Sivadon explained sternly, "Do you confirm that it's okay? If you confirm, I will write your name on it."
“…Okay.”
The duke's son agreed. He knew that this competition was a trick created by Ella to repair the Duke of Aquitaine. Even if he won the game, it would have no actual impact and would not really let him marry into the family.
"Okay, you are the 125th registration officer!" Ravi wrote a quick pen, "Where is the name? Is it the son of the Duke of Normandy?"
"What a joke! My name is Gotzbelt! Gotzbelt of the Rollgon family!"
"Scared! I thought your name was Robert Kossos."
"Where did you hear this name???"
"Hey, isn't your name? Did I see it in my dream? It's normal. Great alchemists can always see some weird things in their dreams."
