Chapter 20 Ipolita and Barcelona (13)

A few days later, a group of men in black with bird beak masks appeared on the streets of Constantineer.

Among these men in black were doctors, but more were guards who maintained the order of Constantine. Under Paracelsus's guidance, they completed the training to put on and take off the clothes correctly. In the long beak, there was a linen soaked with water of life, which made them smell a strong smell of alcohol in every breath.

Paracelsus hopes this will bring them health and protect them from toxins.

Paracelsus walked in front of the group of men in black.

"Cleaning out all the feces and garbage. These things will breed mosquitoes. Also, drive out all the people hiding in the sewers. There are so many toxins on the surface and they still hide in the sewers. What do they think? Remember to scald all the clothes of people coming out of the sewers with boiling water, then apply some water of life on their heads and hands..."

Paracelsus patrolled Constantinier's situation while commanding the soldiers behind him to deal with the problems found in a timely manner.

He soon came to the city center, where a large number of people gathered in Ulara.

"Scatter! Basels should have ordered a ban on gathering!" a guard shouted at the group of people.

Paracelsus signaled the guards not to worry, and walked up to him and said, "Please leave here immediately. Perhaps the potential patients among you should be taken lightly if they have no symptoms. After all, even if you drink poison, it will take a while to attack."

The group of people turned around and looked at Paracelsus with dissatisfaction. Paracelsus then noticed that these people were all priests of the temple.

"We are holding a ceremony to worship Apollo!" cried an old priest, "What if the ceremony is interrupted, what if the sun disappears again?"

Before Paracelsus could answer, a girl's voice came from the crowd: "Listen to him and disperse."

The old priest turned around in surprise: "Prince of Apollo, you..."

"Apollo is the god of medical care, and you should respect the doctors."

The voice's owner separated the crowd and walked over. It turned out to be Draguè, wearing a golden robe.

——Summoning the sun and repelling the enemy, these two things gave Draguer an unparalleled reputation. In just a few days, Draguer had already cityted a pirate of Constantineer's priests. She let the priests disperse. Although the priests were unwilling to accept it, they had to bow their heads and disperse.

"Paracelsus, although we are not very familiar with you, the King of Sweden mentioned you in his letter to me. She said that if Constantinier had a plague outbreak due to the siege, let me seek your help." Draguer looked at Paracelsus and said, "You are a believer in the Abraham Church, but when we were injured by Ibn Sina before, you helped us deal with the injury in front of Ibn Sina. When I came to you, you agreed to come with me as soon as possible. So I am willing to believe in you. Is there anything I need to help?"

Paracelsus was a little confused about Draguè's appearance here: "You come here to hold a ceremony, isn't it okay to have the wall?"

"After your plan is implemented, there are many fewer soldiers who can defend the city. But Almani has not yet discovered it. They have not launched an attack these days. They should be waiting for the plague to spread further." Drague said, "Everyone is very tired these days. I want to hold a ceremony to celebrate the appearance of the sun to relax the people of Constantinier."

"Don't do this. Draguè, don't gather people before the plague is over. We don't know how this toxin enters the human body. It may be a bite by a mosquito or just a spit. We are currently helpless about this plague. All we can do is try to prevent the alive from being infected."

"Has no help?" Draguè opened his mouth in shock: "Aren't you cured Basels's wife?"

Paracelsus signaled Draguè to come forward, and whispered in her ear: "In fact, even if I do nothing, she will be cured by herself. This disease has a 20% chance of survival. I just didn't expect that Basels would rather let his wife suffer than use alchemy potions. Without using alchemy potions, I cannot cure any patient. The power of the Black Death is beyond your imagination. No herbs that exist in nature can do anything. I think even if I let Ibn Sina come over, I will be helpless."

"What should I do?" Draguè almost shouted, "Although you have used your method, the plague is still spreading these days?"

"So I'm patrolling the city now. Next, I want to go to the site where the bodies are buried." Paracelsus said, "There must be something I missed, continuing to spread the toxins."

Some soldiers in black were working in a corner of Constantinier. They came to help citizens dig deep pits to bury the bodies. The corpses in the morgue were piled up like mountains and emitted a foul smell. In order to dispel mosquitoes and fleas, people lit mosquito-repellent herbs with fire, which added a scent of herbs in addition to the corpse stinking of the morgue. Draguè couldn't help but cover his nose as soon as he approached. Paracelsus and the soldiers seemed much more calm, and the strong smell of wine emitted from the beaks on their masks somewhat covered the foul smell in the environment.

"We don't have time to deal with these corpses!" An officer who directed the soldiers to dig a pit reported to Paracelsus. "Constantine's defenders were not enough, and there were no more personnel to allocate them here! These corpses are increasing every day!"

"This is absolutely not possible. Use burning methods. Pour the bodies with oil and burn them with fire." Paracelsus said. "It is a forced one now, and the citizens of Constantineer should be able to understand it."

He approached the pile of corpses, suddenly saw something, and fiddled with the wooden stick in his hand. Then, he walked around the pile of corpses for several times, constantly pushing the corpses away with the wooden stick, as if he was exploring something.

"Why are there so many corpses of rats?" asked Paracelsus, "Where did it come from?"

"Maybe I'm here to eat meat," said the officer. "Of course I'll die after eating these poisonous meats. It's just that there are fewer mice."

"It's not just here." Suddenly, a soldier said, "There are often seen on the streets of Constantineer, all these days."

People could not see Paracelsus' expression under the mask, but from his voice, he could detect his excitement: "A lot of mice died? Apart from mice, are there other animals dead in large numbers?"

The soldiers thought for a while and shook their heads: "It seems that there is no more. Basels asked us to culminate mosquitoes and fleas, but the reserves of herbs in the city are not very enough."

"The source has been found!" Paracelsus excitedly knocked the ground with a wooden stick, "It's a mouse! I'll report this to Basels immediately!"

"No need," said Draguè. Then, she raised her head and let out a trembling roar towards the sky!
