Chapter 13: Ella's Adventures on the Ball (3)
The hot air balloon has floated to the uninhabited sea and traveled through the clouds.
At first, Ella was still looking at the scenery below with great enthusiasm, but the scene on the sea had not changed much after no matter how long it took. Soon, she lost interest.
So the three of them sat on the hot air balloon and started chatting.
"The most important part of my alchemy theory system is the three-element theory that explains the composition of things." Paracelsus said, "However, the three-element theory has not had a great influence in the academy, and you may not have heard of it."
Ella and Amy shook their heads.
"We have all heard of this theory, which adds a salt to the two elements of Jabir's sulfur and mercury, which is said to explain the composition of all substances, including organic matter."
"Yes, it can perfectly explain all the phenomena we have discovered in the laboratory at present - Aristotle's Four Elements Theory was also proposed in his observation and practice, and can perfectly explain all the phenomena he had at that time. After so many years, people have accumulated a lot of practical experience, so I have this new theory. However, like Aristotle and Jabir's theory, it has a fatal deficit."
"Fatal deficit? I haven't heard of this." Ella asked curiously, "What is it?"
"It can explain those phenomena, but it is only 'can'. There are many kinds of explanations for the same thing. Jabir's two elements and Aristotle's four elements theory appear to have similarities on the surface, but when you look at it carefully, you will find that it is ambiguous in many key places. In fact, these are two different hypotheses, but alchemists are willing to accept these two at the same time, because either one can explain the phenomena that appear in the experiment - but this also a question arises: Which theory is correct?"
“Which one?”
"I don't know, so I'm desperate to know. The way I think of is practice-- since I have expanded my doctrine to organic matter, as long as I use my doctrine to create organic matter, I can declare with confidence that Aristotle and Jabir are wrong."
The girl was always full of confidence when talking about her doctrines, but Paracelsus in front of her was a little hesitant when talking about her doctrines, and seemed to have suffered a lot of setbacks.
"You did create organic matter—and living people, which proves that your doctrine is correct, right?" Amy said.
"That's not a skill at all, but magic!" Paracelsus suddenly shouted in a crash, "What can magic prove?"
Amy and Ella were both startled by Paracelsus' reaction. Paracelsus also realized his loss of composure, lowered his head slightly, and said, "Sorry. I felt a little uncomfortable when talking about this - in the end, I couldn't create anything with my skills. The existence of that girl is simply God's ridicule of me."
"That's why you object to His Majesty's experiment just now?"
"Yes, what's the use of experiments? We explain the observed phenomena and observe the unexplainable phenomena, and then modify them. After changing them, my theory is not much more complicated than Aristotle and Jabir."
Ella thought for a while, suddenly picked up a branch and handed it to Amy, and said, "Amy, bake it into charcoal."
Amy didn't know what Ella was thinking, but she did it. But she saw Ella picking up the charcoal and writing words underneath.
"Paracelsus, you reminded me. The doctrines you inferred based on a large number of experiments may still be wrong. Then I should not get a conclusion immediately based on today's experiments. I will definitely try all these experiments one time another day."
Amy went up and took a look, but saw Ella's writing about these questions:
1. When the ship sailing forward, after the sail falls, does it fall directly below the mast or directly behind?
2. Throw a stone upward on the galloping carriage. Will the stone fall back into your hand or fall out of the carriage?
3. On Nagil's navigation, pull the same slingshot apart, shoot a stone directly opposite the direction of the navigation, pick up the back and shoot it again. Which time will the stone be further away from me?
4....
After writing these lines, Ella continued: "Paracelsus, you just said that it is impossible to get the truth by explaining the observed results only. But what if I predict the results in advance before observation and the results are completely in line with my prediction?"
"This... I have always analyzed the reasons based on the results, and I have never thought about predicting the results." Paracelsus lowered his head and thought for a while, and then replied, "If all the results can perfectly match the prediction, then it will naturally be correct."
"Okay, then I'll write down the prediction results here first."
Ella wrote a few more words after the question.
"Amy, Paracelsus, you all remember the answers I wrote today. The words are white and black, and cannot be changed. After I finish all the experiments, I will make a judgment whether I am right or wrong."
Paracelsus stared at Ella for a moment.
"The King of Sweden... you really surprised me. After this separation, I will definitely come to Sweden to find you in a few years and exchange academic exchanges again."
After saying this, he walked to the guardrail and visited the distance.
"If you fly down, it's just the sea. Let's go back like this."
"I'm going to return now?" Ella jumped up suddenly, "I want to fly to Constantinier to take a look! I specially left a few bones and prepared to throw them to the ungrateful guards of the palace!"
"Constantine?" It was Paracelsus' turn to be surprised. "King of Sweden, the fuel on my flight device can only support flights of about twenty kilometers at most. You can't even fly out of this bay?"
"What kind of fuel is it! Isn't it just a fire? With Amy here, you have as many fires as you want! Amy, add the fire!"
"Okay, your majesty!"
Amy sent a ball of fire under the hot air balloon.
"No, even if there is fire..." Paracelsus wiped the beads of sweat from the flowing down, "With the wind speed, we can starve to death if we can't fly Constantinier!"
"Whatever wind! With Amy there, it can move without the wind! Amy, spitting fire!"
"Your Majesty... Why do I feel like a mount...?"
Even though he said this, Amy still sprayed the blazing flames behind him.
A rolling heat waves broke out in the sky. As Amy kept increasing the firepower, the hot air balloons were flying faster and faster.
"Even if you're hungry halfway, it doesn't matter. Amy, you can use Aphrodite's guard to seduce a few birds, and then bake them!"
"Where is Aphrodite from this?"
