Chapter 30: The Future of Almani (11)
That night, Ella and Alfred visited the tavern again.
The situation in the tavern was no different from last night. A dancer was dancing a thrilling dance, and several big men were drinking wine and eating meat in large pieces. It was still in that remote corner, where Dust had been waiting there early. This time he did not drink, and there were only some small snacks for drinking on the table.
Ella and Alfred ordered a little wine and food symbolically, then walked to the table and sat down. Dust saw someone coming to sit in front of him. When he looked up, he saw that it was Ella and Alfred, and immediately said, "I have already found out everything."
"So fast?"
Ella was surprised at how quickly Dust was exploring the information. She did not find the information after Dust could not find it, so she had waited for a few more days before she came.
"Actually, I haven't found out everything." Dust touched the bridge of his nose with a little embarrassed, "I haven't found out that Meli's whereabouts."
Alfred sighed:
"No problem, this is the task I asked you for extra. It's not the first time that Meli has disappeared. In the past few days, I have made myself a seriously injured wound every day to try to see if the wound can recover quickly. Until this morning, the wound can still heal quickly, which proves that she is still alive, and knowing this is enough."
Ella was slightly shocked: "Afu, you are causing serious wounds to yourself every day? I don't know if this is the case!"
"If others know, they will definitely stop me. I won't talk about this." Alfred interrupted the topic and looked at Dust seriously, "Tell me, that apostle, is it dead or alive now?"
"There is definite evidence," Dust replied seriously, "that apostle is dead."
"Dead? Really?"
This is undoubtedly the best news in the past few months. Compared with the news that the Aquitaine's faction was destroyed, there was a gap between heaven and earth.
"So, did that potion from Cour really work?" Ella forced herself to hold back the excitement in her heart and tried to find out more specific information.
"I don't know how he died, but if he dies, he dies." Dust said. "His body was discovered about a week after his death, just under the bridge hole by the river. When it was discovered, the body had rotted and smelly. If it weren't for the smelly, his body wouldn't have known how many days would it have been there. It was indeed a remote corner that was rarely visited."
"How do you determine that the person who died was Crodis, not an unknown tramp?" Alfred asked.
"At first I thought it was an ordinary homeless man. However, people found a package beside him, which contained many documents on astronomy and geography, with the signatures of "Crodith". One of them was recently drafted and had not been written yet, but the handwriting was exactly the same as those that had been completed. So, it is basically certain that these documents were created by the deceased during his lifetime."
"It sounds...it still seems to be a bit risky," Ella said.
"So I went to confirm it myself." Dust leaned forward, "Because the family could not be found, the body was dug a hole and buried, so he erected a small earth slope, and even a monument was not erected. I found the person who was dealing with this matter at that time, asked him to take me to the slope, and then dialed the earth slope open. The body inside was already blurred, but I could recognize that this person was Crodis who had trapped us on the top of the mountain before!"
"So," Alfred pondered, "the apostle is indeed dead."
Ella felt a little dazed. She was naturally very happy when the apostle was removed, but when she thought of such a big man who died under the bridge hole in an unknown way and was buried like a homeless man, she couldn't help feeling a little sad.
Ella's order came with something, a pot of wine and a plate of wine dishes.
Ella pushed these two things in the direction of Dust.
"Eat it, Master, this is something I specially ordered for you. The mission has been successfully completed and you can drink as much as you want."
"No, I won't drink wine today." Dust stood up, patted his body, and said, "I'll take you to that grave to take a look."
"Yeah." Ella nodded and stood up with Dust, "Go to confirm it last. If it is really Crodisius, then we have to erect a monument for him."
"King of Sweden, you..." Alfred asked after Ella, "...are you a little unhappy?"
"It's true." Ella walked out of the tavern. She looked up and saw the deep night sky in her eyes. "After all, it was Crodicus Ptolemy, the greatest astronomer to date."
"Don't stand there, come and follow." Dust turned around and shouted, "If it's too late, the cemetery will be haunted!"
It was already dark, and Dust walked mostly in the remote path. Soon, they entered the deserted area.
"What a remote place," Ella said.
"Well. Didn't you have a Black Death not long ago? Many homeless people came to Paris to take refuge. Many of them had no relatives and no reason. After their bodies were killed, they were buried nearby. Basically, that was a mass grave."
Dust kept turning his head to see if Ella had followed.
"Go ahead, there are still many roads."
The more you go, the quieter you will appear around you. The whistle and sound of the wind will come into your ears from time to time, and sometimes you can hear the cry of insects.
"Master, isn't this far away?" Ella shouted from behind, "Even if you get to the place, you won't be able to see clearly. Why don't we go over and see it tomorrow?"
"It's okay." Dust turned around and smiled and stretched out his hand at Ella, "Come on, just come with me."
For some reason, Ella shivered.
"Master, you seem a little... strange?"
"It's okay." Dust continued to smile, "Come on, come with me."
An ominous premonition surged up.
"...Master, why didn't you drink just now? You will definitely come over after drinking."
"Don't ask so much." Dust smiled, approaching Ella and Alfred step by step, "Come on, just come with me."
“Fus Ro Dah (no power)!”
