Chapter 26: Starting a War (2)

On the seventh day after Ella deployed the combat plan, the Duke of Aquitaine's army finally arrived at the location of the rebel camp.

The reason why it was two days later than Dust expected was that along the way, the Duke of Aquitaine was carefully exploring nearby information. Whenever the sun exceeded mid-air, he began to station the army, and then spent the remaining half day to detect the nearby enemy situation to ensure that he was not ambushed by the enemy.

This overly cautious approach has aroused many discussions among the knights. Many people proposed to let the Duke of Aquitaine boldly march, after all, their opponent was just a rebel composed of peasants, and they also drank potions that could resurrect from the dead. But every time, the Duke of Aquitaine firmly denied people's proposals.

"Our enemy captured four candidates and a large group of nobles. Such an army, do you call them 'peasants'?" He glared at the eyes and scolded the knights, "We know nothing about them! This is the most terrifying place! If you are bored, join the search team to investigate the information, don't whisper in front of me!"

The Duke of Aquitaine was not like this before. He rode on a war horse, and he felt confident and arrogant from the inside out. The decisions he made were often bold and courageous, and were highly respected by the knights.

But this time, he was really scared.

Not to mention anything else, the fact that the Earl of Ile de France was not arrested made him begin to doubt everything around him!

When he was half a day away from the camp of the Rebel Army, he asked the soldiers to stop and strengthen the defense. At the same time, he sent twice as many personnel as before to investigate.

That night, the Duke of Aquitaine himself sat in the camp in a quilt and did not sleep all night - he was ready to find the attack at the camp and get up at any time to command the battlefield.

Fortunately, nothing happened overnight.

The next day, the Duke of Aquitaine rode his horse and accompanied by a group of knights to order the inspection horses and prepare to go to war. But when he was halfway, he suddenly stopped, pointed his finger at his eyes, and asked the knights beside him:

"Can you see dark circles?"

"Duke, are you?" The Knight didn't understand what the Duke of Aquitaine wanted to do.

"Answer me, do you have dark circles?"

"Yes." The Knight replied honestly, "It's obvious."

"Send the order to quit today and let the soldiers repair it for another day."

After saying that, the Duke of Aquitaine turned his horse and returned to the military camp.

No one knew what the Duke of Aquitaine was thinking in the barracks. The next morning, people saw him pushing out the tent and stretching out a hand: "Get me a bottle of potion."

The Duke of Aquitaine was not injured, so the medicine had not yet passed, so he didn't need to drink new potions, but since the Duke of Aquitaine gave him that, the guards brought him a portion.

But who would have thought that the Duke of Aquitaine seemed to have used this potion as drinking water today, and he drank one bottle after another, and then he had to drink ten bottles of potions before he walked out of the military camp.

People saw that the dark circles on his eyes disappeared. The confidence and arrogance returned to him. He stalked his head and walked all the way to the tens of thousands of troops who had already rectified the formation.

"Send all the potions!" He said the first sentence, "Everyone takes two bottles, drink another bottle after the medicine has passed, and take it with you if the medicine has not passed! After drinking this medicine and fighting, you don't have to worry at all!"

He took a step back in front of the soldiers, and with every few steps he took, he slapped his chest a few times, showing unprecedented enthusiasm.

"I'll ask, who can defeat an immortal legion? No! There is absolutely no! The enemy caught a few nobles and became arrogant and tried to confront our army head-on. Then let them see what would happen to us!"

"Information shows that there are only a group of gathered farmers on the other side!" He shouted with his eyes wide open, "Farmers! They usually eat some bark and grass roots, and they can't even walk steadily. You can cut two of them with just one knife! This time I give you a special reward. Every time you cut a head, you can come to me to exchange for three silver coins! Three silver coins are enough for you to marry a beautiful wife and enter the door! Do you want to have food and clothing? Do you want to get married and start a business? Use the heads of those farmers to exchange!"

The soldiers swallowed their saliva dryly, and they all felt ready to hear it, wishing they could go to the battlefield and kill the enemy.

The Duke of Aquitaine finally stopped moving back and forth.

"It's now!" he yelled, "attack the enemy camp!"

Watching the soldiers turn and move in an orderly manner, the Duke of Aquitaine breathed a sigh of relief.

"Duke," his entourage drove up with a horse, "You hurried over your war horse, and forgot to ride it."

"No, I won't ride a war horse." The Duke of Aquitaine covered his forehead with some fatigue, "Today I will command in the barracks. Spread more people to strengthen the defense near the barracks."

The soldiers couldn't wait to approach the enemy's barracks, and their morale was extremely high.

A farmer's head can be exchanged for three silver coins! This is much easier than military merits such as climbing first and seizing flags!

Moreover, such actions are not life-threatening at all, because they can be resurrected from the dead!

The Duke of Aquitaine gave them two bottles of potions each, which was equivalent to giving each of them three lives. Even if they did not resist the enemy's attack at all and only stabbed the spear forward, they could still steadily exchange one for one, two lives, and six silver coins! What's more, the enemy's training and equipment level are far inferior to them. Let's ask, where is there a more cost-effective deal in the world!

They were not afraid of death at all, nor did they think they would lose. If there were no generals who tried hard to maintain the formation, they would have rushed to the front long ago!

To their surprise, the enemy barracks in front of them were empty.

The scouts the day before yesterday observed the enemy walking around the barracks, and those who seemed to be just suspicious soldiers. When they were repairing yesterday, even those suspicious soldiers had evacuated.

According to Ella's usual practice, several traps were naturally arranged in the camp. However, there were not many, only about five pits, with spikes underneath the pit. Once it fell, it penetrated the soldiers' armor and bodies.

About three soldiers fell into this trap, including a noble knight.

However, this simply cannot shake the morale of the Duke of Aquitaine's army.

The other soldiers took some time to fish out the three unlucky guys from the pit and spread them evenly in the sun. When the Duke of Aquitaine arrived, all the wounds of the three men had recovered.

"Did you see it? This is our strength! No one died and took down the enemy's barracks!"

In front of everyone, the Duke of Aquitaine delivered an inspiring speech:

"The enemy can't escape very far. We won't die! They won't win! As long as we press forward step by step, they will eventually retreat and have no choice but to escape!"
