Chapter 18 The Immortal Apostle (6)

Hestein's sword has been in the Bastille for some time.

Every morning and night, when sentries outside the camp change shifts, they can see the sword - it proudly penetrates into the soil and rocks, like a monument, standing in the wind.

On this side of the sword is the camp of the besieged city. On the other side of the sword, there are corpses who died of siege of the Bastille. The bodies have rotted and emit a foul smell. And those valuable armor and weapons have also fallen to the ground and are gradually buried by sand in the wind.

No one dared to put away these weapons or bury these corpses. The defenders of the Bastille could not open the city gate without the siege, while the soldiers who besieged the Bastille did not dare to step over the sword at all. Compared with national borders and city walls, this sword has much more deterrence. National borders can smuggle and city walls can conquer this sword. Whenever people see this sword and think of the master's strange sword movement, their hearts will inexplicably feel a heart-wrenching pain.

However, in the early morning of the day, the sentry who came to change shifts were surprised to find that the sword had disappeared last night. They asked the soldiers on duty last night, but no one could tell when the sword was pulled away. They did not notice that anyone was approaching this, as if the sword was no longer there in a trance.

At the same time, a burst of laughter suddenly sounded in the tent of the Duke of Aquitaine.

The Duke of Aquitaine was awakened from his dream. When he opened his eyes, he found that a sword had already reached his neck. The person holding the sword was the old man, Crodith.

"Look carefully, is this sword you took away before? It's now taken back by me."

Crodis looked at the Duke of Aquitaine on the bed with a smile. But although he asked the Duke of Aquitaine to see the sword, the sword was firmly placed on the Duke of Aquitaine's neck, making him unable to even get up.

"There is another sword, which is the Pirate King's sword, which I pulled out from under the city wall."

He threw another sword on the Duke of Aquitaine. Although he just glanced out of the corner of his eyes, the Duke of Aquitaine was convinced that this was the sword Hestein stood under the city.

He calmed down his panic and asked in a deep voice: "Are you threatening me? If I don't agree to accept the Abraham Church and surrender to the Tianfang Empire, I will be killed by you here, right?"

"How can it be? It's dark here. I just feel that you can see it more clearly when it's closer."

Crodis threw the sword in his hand casually. The Duke of Aquitaine did not miss this opportunity. He grabbed the sword in his hand with a carp. But when he observed Crodis's posture, he found that the old man completely ignored his movements, directly put his hand behind him, and turned around.

"You will not be killed by me, nor will you be killed by the Tianfang Empire." He said, "Because you will be defeated and killed by yourself if you can't do anything."

A layer of cold sweat suddenly oozed out of the Duke of Aquitaine's back.

"Then," Crodis said lightly, "I'm going to say goodbye now."

"Wait a moment--"

"Um?"

Crodis turned around with a smile.

The Duke of Aquitaine struggled for a while, and then said, "Just let you continue to preach within the Almani Federation... and you will get your support, right?"

Crodis shook his head: "No, if we just let us preach freely, Carolin can do it for us without you."

"What do you want?"

"For the time being, it's just to allow us to preach freely."

"temporary?"

"Yes." Crodis smiled meaningfully, "For the time being."

"Give me some time." The Duke of Aquitaine sighed, "I will convince my subordinates."

Crodis nodded simply: "Of course, you have time - before you are defeated."

Crodis smiled with a hint, and with a wave of his hand, his body dissipated, hiding in the darkness before dawn.

That afternoon, Luka rushed into the Duke of Aquitaine's camp.

"I heard that Duke, you are going to join forces with the Church of Abraham against the Earl of Ile-de-France? What's going on!"

The Duke of Aquitaine sat tiredly in his chair and said, "As you heard, we need the support of the Church of Abraham to successfully enter the Bastille and get the Count of Ile de France off."

"But the Abraham Church is a pagan! It is a lackey of the Tianfang Empire! They brought the Black Death! It is our enemy! How can you join forces with our enemies?"

"After joining forces, it will not be an enemy. I have found out that the Count of Ile-de-France is the wizard who brought the Black Death, but he blamed the crime of the Black Death on the Church of Abraham. We need to punish the real murderer, and at this point, we have a fair interest."

"It's the Black Death again. Versailles said it was because of the Church of Abraham, and here it was because of the Earl of Ile-de-France."

Luka closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths.

"I have been thinking about this matter these days. Is the Black Death really caused by man? I have never heard of such magic. I asked several people, but they said they didn't know. You said you have found out that the Count of Ile de France is a wizard, so where is the evidence?"

The Duke of Aquitaine smiled awkwardly.

"Luka, there are some things that you don't need to be so clear about, right?"

"No need to be so clear?"

"I want to kill the Earl of Ile-de-France, you think, isn't that enough? You should still remember that his judgment caused you to lose your land and become a peasant. If I were the one sitting in the consul's position at that time, I wouldn't have made such a judgment!"

"Don't you really don't judge this?" Luka stared at the Duke of Aquitaine, "Don't lie to me anymore. Revolution, this is a cycle of history. Whether you are, the Count of Ile de France, or even me, it's actually the same."

"Well, Luka, you deserve the blood of a nobleman, much smarter than those farmers."

A sense of anger ejaculation shot out from the Duke of Aquitaine's eyes.

"Then, please think about it in the way of a leader. Should you stop here and let all the soldiers who support you be wiped out as rebels, or should you follow me to conquer Versailles and reward them for their merits?"

"I……"

"If you don't know what to do, go back and ask your soldiers one by one! See if they want to fail or win!"

"But this matter is wrong!"
