1.1029 Armored Train

The "splitting" when crossing the roadway made everyone feel relieved.

Although this section of road through the pristine jungle and desert is far away from familiar Italy, the familiar "splitting" when passing through the traffic light intersection means that the Fiat is still on the right journey.

This is also the reason why everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

However, Wu Chen discovered that the Fiat was driving at a high speed along a desert highway parallel to straight rails.

"Huh?" Coco also discovered it: "It was still a vast ocean just now. Are you going to cross the desert this time?"

And what's even more strange is that the Fiat ETR Y 0160 Pandolino swing train that had just passed the intersection horizontally is currently driving on the railway ahead. The 4003-horsepower Fiat far exceeds the 2447-horsepower ETR Y 0160 Pandolino. So the distance between the two sides is not only not farther, but is still slowly approaching.

At this moment, a tank turret suddenly rose from the rear compartment of the ordinary ETR Y 0160 Pandolino prototype train - a tank turret?!

"Oh my God, it's an armored train!" Policewoman Gianna exclaimed.

Armored Train is simply an armed train. It was originally composed of combat trains and base trains, generally consisting of an armored steam train, more than two armored carriages or railway flatbed trucks for cover. The armored steam train is located between the armored carriages, and the coal-water truck (the section where the steam locomotive car carries coal, water, oil and locomotive tools and spare parts) is facing the enemy. The locomotive is equipped with communication equipment and shooting command equipment.

The earliest armored trains are said to be simple models to drag steam locomotives used to fight cavalry during the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865. During the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 to 1871 and the British Boer War from 1899 to 1902, a large number of armored trains participating in coordinated combat began to appear.

The carriages of steam armored trains are equipped with 1 to 2 cannons, 4 to 8 machine guns, located on both sides of the carriage and in the rotating turret. Each vehicle is rigidly connected to facilitate the passage of the railway line section of the light rail. The base train is used to configure the headquarters, arrange personnel to rest and place materials with the vehicle. Before the outbreak of World War I, both sides of the belligerent countries had a certain number of simple armored trains. In the later battles, heavy armored trains appeared one after another, and the powerful artillery was installed on the trains to destroy fortifications. At this time, the armored trains were also called "train cannons" or "train cannons". The naming method of truck cannons was the same logic.

Before World War II, standard armored trains were equipped with heavy and heavy weapons such as large caliber artillery, field artillery and machine guns, and even installed anti-aircraft guns to deal with the air force. The body was covered with thick steel plates, and some were double-layer steel plates, which could withstand the attacks of most bullets and small shells. The turret rotated at 360°, and there was no dead corner in the shooting. It was equipped on the most core artillery carriage of the armored train. Some armored trains were also equipped with tanks, which further improved the armored train.

The self-defense capability of the vehicles, the armored train troops of the Polish army were equipped with Renault FT-17 light tanks and TKS ultra-light tanks. In addition, the complete armored trains were also equipped with assault vehicles equipped with infantry, and one assault carriage was loaded with about one platoon of troops; flatbed vehicles that protected the core carriage from mine damage were generally equipped at the front and rear of the vehicle; there were also a large number of auxiliary cars mainly for maintenance, medical care, rest, etc.

During World War II, the development of aviation and armored tank soldiers reduced the role of armored trains. Armored trains were mostly used to guard the rear railway traffic lines, and were generally equipped with anti-aircraft guns and anti-aircraft machine guns, which played a certain role in covering large railway hubs and railway trains from attacks by enemy aviation. After the war, countries no longer developed such armored vehicles that rely entirely on railway maneuver operations. However, the shadow of armored trains can still be seen in some local low-intensity conflicts.

The biggest advantage of armored trains is that they travel fast. Even when facing enemy ground and air strikes, armored trains can travel 500 kilometers within one day. Moreover, light weapons and artillery shell fragments cannot penetrate their armor. Therefore, this kind of train can fight with the enemy at close range. The artillery and machine guns on the vehicle can form strong firepower. Moreover, armored trains also have certain air defense capabilities and the ability to carry infantry.

The disadvantage of armored trains is that they cannot leave the rails for combat. As long as the rails are damaged, the train will lose its mobility. Therefore, many armored trains will carry materials and personnel to quickly repair the rails. Compared with other weapons, armored trains rely much more on logistics support. For example, the old steam trains during World War II had to be constantly filled with water, replenished coal every day, and also had to clean the boiler. However, as the front line is lengthened and large-scale strategic transportation is needed, the ability to protect the railway transportation line is far greater than the disadvantages.

However, the four-car group in front of me, the Fiat ETR Y 0160 Pandolino armored train with a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour, has changed from a steam locomotive to an electric locomotive. This armored train includes a personnel carriage, a fire support carriage with a rotating turret, an anti-aircraft cannon carriage and an armored train front; each carriage can be entered through an armored hatch, and these hatches are sealed, and the observation posts and all windows are protected by armor plates. The commanders of the armored train, mechanics, commanders of each independent carriage and shooters are internally connected through a closed-circuit video system, and the train's contact with the outside world relies on the radio stations in the command tower.

"In fact, from armored buses to armored trains, the difficulty of crossing traffic light cross sections is constantly increasing, which is also correct." Wu Chen comforted the girls of the times on the bus: "Our collage armor protection is not weak."

"Mr. Commander is right." Coco took a deep breath: "Sisters, passing the traffic light is like a 'lens switch'. So this armored train must be related to a sister of a certain era."

Tell him that we are the flight team carrying out secret missions." Wu Chen found that the turret did not rotate in pursuit of the movement of the Fiat, but just pointed steadily towards the sandstorm behind.

"As for orders, Mr. Commander." Coco was about to contact the armored train by radio when he suddenly changed his mind: "Be careful, everyone!"

Before he finished speaking, the tank turret of the Fiat ETR Y 0160 Pandolino armored train opened fire violently.

"boom--"

However, it did not attack the Fiat, but shot further behind.

"Dada, dada, dada..." In the gap between the explosion, the dull sound of horse hooves followed closely from the sandstorm that filled the sandstorm behind him.

Coco, who had a similar experience, blurted out: "It's the magic horse knight!"

A masked rider in a Middle Eastern robe jumped out of the sand and dust raised by the wheel of the Fiat wheel with a submachine gun. He used a dense rain of bullets to strait the Fiat ETR Y 0160 Pandolino armored train. Half of the masked rider's body, which was blown by artillery fire, was quickly twisting and demonized. He was like soft tentacles and hard bone spurs, piercing the left and right rows of ribs on his chest, entangled with each other, forming thick white bone armor. The demonized flesh and blood body can even resist bullets fired from the personnel carriage. As if no one was around, he fired against the turret in his hand. Soon, more and more masked riders rushed out of the sand with submachine guns and stragged the armored train with dense fire lines. The battle situation was extremely fierce.

Just as Wu Chen thought.
