Chapter 20 The Prophecy of the Golden Sword
Huangzhou Prefecture Office, Huangzhou Prefecture Chief Hao Wu Bo was talking with Wu Ming, the Dianwei of the Prince of Xiyang, and the Sima Yuwen Shiwu of the Prefecture were also present. The three of them were discussing a major event at this time, which was the matter mentioned in the confession Wu Ming brought.
The whole story is roughly as follows: There is a Buddhist club in Bozhou, and the backbone was sent to Huangzhou to organize a branch, that is, a big Yiyi in Bozhou, and sent people to Huangzhou to establish Yiyi.
This urban organization believes in the Maitreya Sutra, which was deliberately misinterpreted by someone. The leader behind the scenes seems to be surnamed Liu.
"Or it may claim to be Liu's surname, but it is certain that this person has a lot of goals." Wu Ming concluded, "This short-term goal of this Yiyi is to gain a foothold in Huangzhou, absorb believers, and accumulate money."
Yuwen Shiwu was a little confused: "Well, why is the big boss behind the scene surnamed Liu, who is so stupid?"
There are so many surnames in the world, and some surnames are indeed more sensitive in specific situations. For example, Qi State, Zhou State replaced the Yuan clan in the East and West Wei periods respectively, and Gao clan after Zhou State destroyed Qi State, there may be Miao descendants who have to resist stubbornly, so beware of it.
The Sui Kingdom, which was just destroyed not long ago, is said to be unknown so far. Therefore, once there is a secret association leader named Yang, the Zhou government will be on high alert.
But how could the surname Liu be so alert?
Before Wu Ming could explain, Hao Wu Bo suddenly asked, "Yuwen Sima, can you tell me what is the 'prophecy of the golden sword'?"
"Uh, I don't know."
"So what is the 'Mao Jin Knife'?"
"Ah, Mao Jindao Liu." Yuwen Shiwu felt that it was worth being happy that he could answer this question.
He was Yuwen Wen's personal follower. He was eating, drinking and having fun in Chang'an City. All the rules in open and secret were clear. But when it comes to knowledge, both the master and the servant were unable to put on the table.
However, Yuwen Wen seemed to have become a different person after marriage, but Yuwen Shiwu was the same. He had no problem reading and writing, but he was blinded by writing articles. In front of Hao Wu Bo, who was well-read in poetry, he said that Wen Jie could not compare with his words, so Yuwen Shiwu felt that he could answer it, which was worth being happy.
"The Mao Jin Knife refers to Liu, and Sima knows the Emperor of the Liu family?"
Facing Hao Wu Bo’s question, Yuwen Shiwu was happy again because he could answer this question: “Isn’t the emperors of the Han Dynasty the surname Liu, and the uncle Liu from Ji Han… and uh, and the Liu Guan family from Song State.”
"So, Sima knows the prophecies and divination, or the study of prophecies and divination?"
"Uh...I don't know."
Yuwen Shiwu is indeed a Bai Ding in this regard, but Hao Wu Bo did not look contemptuous. After all, everyone is familiar with each other, and they are all the left and right arm of the King of Xiyang Yuwen Wen who stayed in Huangzhou to guard the house, so he explained patiently.
The study of prophecies and divination emerged during the Qin and Han Dynasties, and became more prosperous in the Wei and Jin Dynasties. Disassembling prophecies cited by prophecies and divination theory became obsessed with by scholars. Prophecies can be understood as prophecies, and political prophecies.
There are many more famous prophecies in history. One is that after Qin unified the world, there was a prophecy saying that "the one who destroyed Qin is the lake." As a result, after Emperor Qin died, his son Hu Hai ascended the throne, and the Qin Dynasty was destroyed not long after.
Secondly, at the end of the Western Han Dynasty, there was a prophecy saying: "Liu Xiu's army was unrighteous, and the four barbarians gathered in the dragon to fight the wilderness, and the four seven fires were the main ones." In summary, "Liu Xiu should be the emperor."
Wang Mang, who usurped the government at that time, had a confidant named Liu Xin, who was a member of the Han royal family. He wanted to fulfill this prophecy and specially changed his name to "Liu Xiu".
As a result, Liu Xiu from Nanyang responded to the prophecy, which was to continue the Han Dynasty's reign.
Third, at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a prophecy saying: "Those who replace Han Dynasty should be the one who should paint high." Huainan Yuan Shu's name is highway, and he felt that he should be the one who responded to the prophecy, and there was a jade seal in his hand, so he couldn't wait to ascend the throne and become the emperor and establish the title of Zhong.
As a result, the person who accepted the abdication of Emperor Han was King Cao Pi of Wei, whose country was named "Wei". It is said that the word "Wei" was in line with the prophecy of "Dangtu Gao".
Judging from the study of prophecies and divination, whoever becomes the emperor and rule the world is in the dark, and those who dare to disobey are just driving the king or chariots.
Over the past hundreds of years, various prophecies have emerged one after another. It is hard to say who is right or wrong. Some prophecies are followed up after the fact, while others are compiled out by ambitious people as an excuse to start their own affairs.
However, there is a kind of prophecy that has been passed down from the end of the Western Han Dynasty to the present, which is a series of prophecies such as "Liu's becoming king", "Liu's resurrected", and "Han's reign".
Cao Wei was subjected to Han Zen, but he replaced it by Sima Jin. When he was in the Yongjia Rebellion, he flew south. At the end of the Jin Dynasty, he published folk songs, which were "After the golden sword was carved, he was wandering in the Jincheng."
The Jindao is a synonym for the Liu surname, and the one who accepted the abdication of Emperor Jin was Liu Yu, which just happened to respond to the prophecy of "the Liu family resurrected".
Although the country established by Liu Yu was named "Song" instead of "Han", he was a descendant of Liu Jiao, the younger brother of Liu Bang, the Emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty who established the Han Dynasty. It is reasonable to say that Liu Yu was in line with the prophecy of "rejuvenation of the Han Dynasty".
Because there were Liu Xiu and Liu Yu who responded to the prophecy one after another, a series of prophecies "Liu became king", "Liu's resurrected", and "Han's revival" finally evolved into the "prophecy of the golden sword", which is the most credible prophecy in the world.
When Liu Song was destroyed, Xiao Qi replaced him, and he was always taboo and sensitive to the prophecy of the Golden Sword. Even the swords used in the palace were not allowed to have golden handles, let alone golden swords.
When we arrived in Xiaoliang and Chen State, although the apparent influence of the prophecy of the Golden Sword has become smaller, this taboo has been more or less inherited. At the same time, the influence of the prophecy of the Golden Sword of the Northern Dynasties was expanding.
The specific form of manifestation is the leader who gathers crowds to rebel. Whether it is Han or Hu, most of them have surnames Liu or claim to be surnamed Liu.
Why did this happen? Wasn’t this the case for the Xiongnu Liu Yuan back then? Under the banner of reviving the Han Dynasty, he raised an army to rebel against Jin State. This is the most straightforward slogan.
For hundreds of years, many people have obtained the prophecy of the Golden Sword and have raised the banner of reviving the Han Dynasty. Even if they did not believe in Liu, they would claim their surname to Liu.
However, the Liu Song Dynasty has been destroyed for many years, and the slogan of reviving the Han Dynasty has become less and less attractive to the people of the world. Therefore, those ambitious people began to emphasize that "Liu is the king", so that they can avoid being attached to their ancestors. Anyway, so many people in the world named Liu may not necessarily be descendants of the Han Dynasty.
This kind of slogan is easier to understand by ordinary people who are ignorant of it. After all, according to the meaning of the slogan, it is "God said that those with the surname Liu will definitely be the king and the world." So there is nothing wrong with following a person with the surname Liu to lead the charge.
What's more, with the popularization of Maitreya's belief, the prophecy of the Golden Sword absorbed the saying that Maitreya was born and established the Pure Land on earth, combining the meaning of the Maitreya Sutra, which is widely believed in by the people, with the prophecy of the Golden Sword of the Mao Jin Sword Liu, into one. Its persuasion is much stronger than the simple revival of the Han Dynasty.
Hao Wu Bo's long discussion made Yuwen Shiwu realize it suddenly. He couldn't help but admire the other party, because this kind of knowledge seemed to be unable to be learned from the classics.
Facing Yuwen Shiwu's sincere admiration, Hao Wu Bo sighed: "Since the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the trend of Qing Dynasty has become more and more popular, and many famous scholars of classics have studied metaphysics..."
"Over the past few hundred years, the classics have been combined with the prophecies and divination. Many people have been studying the mysterious prophecies every day, trying to find the destiny of heaven. He is willing to follow Long Yuan to follow."
"Destiny? Fighting for the world depends on the essence of soldiers and enough food. What's the use of a mysterious destiny?" Yuwen Shiwu couldn't help but be excited. Influenced by Yuwen Wen, he was very disgusted with this theory of destiny.
"It took the king nine years to save some capital to open up land and farm, gather people, train troops, and build weapons. If he had studied metaphysics throughout the day, would he have been praying by burning incense and praying in the war, begging God to send heavenly soldiers and generals to retreat to the enemy?"
Hao Wubo actually agreed with Yuwen Shiwu's question. He and Xu Shao have always hated talk. Although they are determined to do something, they do not want to be the kind of clear stream that only knows talking and not deal with practice, let alone study metaphysics and prophecies.
"Of course the prophecy is not trustworthy. It is ridiculous to want to compete for the world with just a prophecy of the golden sword." Hao Wu Bo kept Wu Ming's confession, "But people with ulterior motives can use this to deceive the masses and harm the local area."
"It's like a good bowl of white porridge, but someone throws a mouse shit. The porridge is not broken, but it can make people disgusting."
Speaking of this, Hao Wu Bo became serious: "Yuwen Sima, this matter should not be careless. The mastermind behind the city is very big, but he doesn't know where the old nest is. We can't control other places, but we must ensure that the Huangzhou General Administration cannot allow the people he sent to gain a foothold!"
