001, three stories

Story 1: Zhang San is less than thirty years old and is a technician in a textile factory production line. He was on a night shift that day and returned to the dormitory after midnight. Zhang San was still single and lived alone. The dormitory was on the second floor. When he took out the key and opened the door, a person suddenly came out of the house.

The lights in the corridor were not on and the lights were not turned on in the room. Zhang San was already very tired and a little dazed. He did not see the other person clearly, but felt like a man with a figure similar to his. He just saw a hazy outline. Afterwards, the other person's face was blurred.

Zhang San subconsciously asked, "Who are you?" But the other party did not answer, and his figure quickly walked downstairs, disappeared into the darkness, and even had no footsteps. Zhang San, who was in a daze, took a long time to react. He didn't know what was going on, guessing that he might have encountered a thief, but nothing was lost in the dormitory.

A few days later, Zhang San died of a heart attack while working in a long night shift.

Story 2: Aunt Wang lives in the village, and her children have all entered the city. During this period, my wife went to the city to see that her son was not at home. That day she went to the town to go to the market and came back until dark. She carried a basket of things she bought at the market and felt very tired. She opened the gate of the yard and walked into the yard, but happened to see an old lady coming out of the main hall and walking straight out.

Aunt Wang, who was tired and confused, asked, "Who are you from?" The other party did not answer. Aunt Wang chased out of the yard, but could no longer see the other party. The light was very dark at that time, and Aunt Wang only saw a body outline similar to her. It felt that the other party was also an old lady.

The next day, when the neighbor was chatting, Aunt Wang mentioned this. The old man from the neighbor reminded her: "Big girl, are you losing your soul?" Aunt Wang said suddenly: "I should have seen myself." He did not mention this matter to anyone afterwards.

A year later, Aunt Wang accidentally fell and was sent to the hospital while going to the market. She died of illness a few days later.

Story 3: Mr. Fan quarreled with his wife, and his wife returned to her parents' home in anger. He lived alone these days and was not in a good mood. He had a conflict with his colleagues in the unit and had not had a good sleep for several days. It was a bit late to go home from work that day. When he grabbed the handrail and walked the stairs of the unit building step by step, his head felt very drowsy and his eyelids were fighting.

When he took out the key and opened the door on the fourth floor, a person suddenly came out of the room and went down the stairs. Mr. Fan was a little confused at the time and instinctively thought that his wife had returned, but the figure of the man was not his wife, like a man with a figure similar to himself. It took him a long time to come back to his senses.

Mr. Fan almost called the police, but when he got home, he found that everything had not been moved and there was not much property at all. Later, when he talked about this with his friends and colleagues, he said to everyone: "I saw myself."

This happened more than 20 years ago, and Mr. Fan is still alive.

Therefore, the three stories Ding Qi told in the classroom, or three folk legends that happened at different times and in different places. One hundred and fifty-two students in the audience were listening attentively, showing an interesting look. This was a large step classroom with second-year undergraduate students from various majors of Jinghu University sitting in it. The reason why Ding Qi was able to calculate the number of people so accurately was that he used the seating method. This classroom that could accommodate 180 people was almost full.

The roster registration number should be 169 students who elect to take this course, but in fact, 152 students are already quite high, and it is almost impossible for teachers to name such a big class.

Ding Qi talked about "Basics of Psychology". For students majoring in psychology, this is a compulsory course for the first grade of undergraduate degree; for students non-psychology, this is an elective course for the second grade of undergraduate degree. The textbooks and teaching content of the two are also of different focus. For students majoring in psychology, a large amount of the textbook focuses on social psychology.

For such inter-professional elective courses, many students only sign up to make up for elective credits. At the same time, because it is somewhat good, the skip rate is very high. Many people have come to class and they are lying on the table to make up for sleep, which is also one of the common phenomena on university campuses.

At this moment, looking at the students in the audience, Ding Qi was smiling bitterly, and at the same time he was a little satisfied. He was basically full of time and no one was sleeping. In fact, the elective courses of "Basics of Psychology" offered by non-psychology undergraduates are not highly valued by the school, otherwise a lecturer as young as Ding Qi would not have been given a lecturer.

But Ding Qi spoke very well, at least it was very attractive. The classroom in front of him was the best proof. If someone who was unsure about the situation walked into the wrong classroom and didn’t know what class it was, he might be puzzled. Is it clear whether this young man in Taiwan was in class or telling ghost stories?

After telling these three stories, seeing that the students' attention was attracted, Ding Qiguang looked around, as if he had contact with everyone's sight, and said, "Students, this is a folk story circulating at different times and at different places across the country. Everyone is also from all over the country. I would like to ask, have anyone heard similar rumors in his hometown? If you have heard them, please raise your hand!"

A total of fifty-seven students raised their hands. Ding Qi was able to draw accurate numbers so quickly, not because he had some superpowers, but because of his professional skills and professional habits.

He studied psychology and was also a psychological counselor. He has repeatedly received various psychological scale tests including IQ, and has participated in the design of many psychological measurement tables. He has mastered various memory skills such as space and numbers.

He is very familiar with this classroom. He uses matrix memory method to obtain accurate numbers in a few seconds, and then nods, "Very good, everyone can put their hands down. Since they are just folk legends, we cannot conduct accurate spiritual evaluations of the parties involved in the legend, but we can first summarize the core elements of their consistency based on the content of the legend itself. Which student is willing to speak... If no one raises his hand, I will call it!"

Many students in the audience showed their eyes that they wanted to try, but no one raised their hands on their own. This is a very common situation in university classes, especially in large classes with a large number of people. The more people present, the less willing they are to raise their hands on their own to speak. This is a psychological phenomenon. Moreover, Ding Qi didn't give it long, and most people feel that they need to think about it for a while.

Ding Qi was planning to take the initiative to call the name. He wanted to find a girl to answer, but he almost subconsciously made the move to open the roster. He didn't actually look at it, so he called out the name of an impressed girl: "Meng Huiyu, please answer!"

After saying that, Ding Qi raised his head and happened to look at Meng Huiyu's eyes. Meng Huiyu sat in the first row and was a very beautiful girl with fair skin and shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a white floral skirt with cuffs, neckline and body patterns in red and blue batik style, which was a bit of a minority style in the southwest region, and she herself was not a minority.

Meng Huiyu was staring at Ding Qi just now, and now she quickly stood up and lowered her head and looked a little shy. She reached out to sort out Liu Hai, which was hanging down before tidying up her forehead, adjusted her slightly nervous breathing, and then raised her head and replied: "The stories the teacher just told, first of all, the parties involved are in a state of trance."

Ding Qi nodded and said, "Well, that's it, what else?"

Meng Huiyu: "The light at the scene was very dim, and no one else was present to interfere with the parties involved. In this case, it is easy to cause illusions due to the hint of the environment."

Ding Qixin said in thought: "This is not the point." When he opened his mouth, he said in an encouragement and prompt tone: "This is a legend. We cannot judge the mental state of the person involved and the authenticity of what is said. So what kind of consistency rules can the legend itself summarize?"

Meng Huiyu replied while thinking: "According to your teacher's tips, there are two core rules. The first point is consistent. They all "see themselves" in some situations. The second point is inconsistent. Zhang San did not realize that he saw himself, nor did he say to others. Aunt Wang realized it by someone reminded him, and only said one sentence; Mr. Fan realized it and said to others many times..."

Ding Qi: "The second point is actually consistent. Have you noticed its rules?"

As prompted to this level, the answer was about to come out. In response to Ding Qi's gaze, Meng Huiyu raised her chest slightly, and her tone became clear and confident: "In these three stories, the three people 'see themselves' in specific situations, which may indicate that life is about to end. And realize this situation and say it, live for one more year..."

Ding Qi nodded with satisfaction and said, "It's very good, the summary is very good. Thank you, Meng Huiyu, you can sit down."

After Meng Huiyu sat down, Teacher Ding's praise of her eyes made her feel relieved, and she couldn't help feeling nervous again. Her face turned slightly red and her nose was slightly sweating. She subconsciously lowered her head and stretched out a finger to touch the tip of her nose. Ding Qi, who was good at observing micro-expressions, certainly noticed it. He didn't know whether it was a bitter smile or something else. Looking around the classroom, he also subconsciously stretched out a finger to support the frame that supported the bridge of his nose.

Ding Qi is not myopic. He has very good eyesight. He wears this pair of flat-light glasses just to add a bit of elegance. The glasses were chosen by his girlfriend Jia Jia for him. It cost more than 8,000 yuan. It is the most expensive piece of his outfit.

Today he was wearing a navy blue casual suit, revealing a shirt with very decent cut inside and high-end fabrics. Glasses, shirts and belts are said to be native to Italy and belong to the same well-known international brand. The total amount is about 20,000 yuan. This is still an overseas purchase price that does not include tariffs.

Ding Qi can understand why many girls know a lot when they mention many brands, but he doesn't understand these at all and is not interested in delving into them. According to his girlfriend Jia Jia, the high-end products she chose that are not really international brands are mostly light luxury, but they can really highlight Ding Qi's temperament.

After my girlfriend has chosen it, Ding Qi can pay it directly, which is worry-free. Although Ding Qi is still studying for a Ph.D., he has a job and a pretty good income. In addition to being promoted from an assistant teacher to a lecturer at Jinghu University, he also works as a psychological counselor at the Affiliated Hospital of Jinghu University.

Psychological counselors must pay attention to appearance and image, and the first impression they leave must be trust and affinity. So Ding Qi also agrees with his girlfriend dressing up like this.

I recently heard a little news that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security is compiling the latest "National Professional Qualification Catalog", which is said to cancel the official certification of "psychological counselors" professional qualifications and no longer organize examinations and issuance of certificates. Ding Qi did not believe this news, but he also believed that the certification management of psychological counselors should indeed be rectified and standardized.

Without looking in the mirror, Ding Qi also knew his image and the impression he had made was very good. Especially at the university forum, a young and handsome male teacher like him who pays attention to appearance and is very friendly, is already a rare young and handsome campus. Many girls love this big class he brought, probably not only for the course content, but also for some people arrive very early every time, and most of them sit in the front row of the classroom, and like to watch him and whisper from time to time.

It is normal and understandable that Ding Qi did not have any other thoughts about it.

Ding Qi looked around the classroom and was about to add a few more comments, but realized that there was no need to say anything more. Originally, he planned to find a girl to answer, but it was difficult to answer all the key points in such a short time. It could be supplemented by him, the teacher, to increase the fun and interactivity of the classroom, and at the same time enhance the teacher's authoritative image.

However, after Meng Huiyu spoke, Ding Qi kept giving encouragement and praise tips. This is a habit of a psychological counselor when conducting "intake conversations". It was brought to the classroom inadvertently. It seems that in normal times, you should pay attention to switching between different identities and self-adjustment of corresponding behaviors.

Ding Qi cleared his throat and said, "These three stories are not fictional by me, but by my mentor, Professor Liu Feng, a famous psychology expert in my country, collected from various places and seemed unrelated social rumors and examples collected from various places during social surveys many years ago.

Professor Liu Feng has made outstanding achievements in many fields such as psychology and sociology, and has paid great attention to investigations and research from the perspective of theory and practice. His footprints are spread all over the world, and he has gone deep into different types of people, collecting and organizing a large number of detailed first-hand information..."

Ding Qi actually publicly praised the instructor in a big class, and was generous. If it was heard by someone, it was a very explicit flattery and compliment. However, Ding Qi's expression and tone were very sincere, and he also sincerely evaluated the instructor. On the other hand, Ding Qi was actually mentally clear that if the remarks in this big class were passed to the instructor, the instructor would definitely be very happy or even pleased.

As the saying goes, don’t talk about people behind the scenes, which is not a good habit, but this does not include praising anyone behind the scenes. This face-to-face compliment can make the other party happier, and many people, including the mentor, cannot avoid the vulgarity. Moreover, his praise is not without basis. Just now, he quoted the information collected and compiled cases of the mentor that year, which also shows academic respect and admiration.

To flatter, you must also pay attention to psychology.

After praising the mentor in a quiet and reasonable tone, Ding Qixi continued: "The female student has summarized the consistency rules of these three stories just now. So who can analyze in depth why there are rumors of the same core elements at different times and places? You can speak freely and say whatever you think of. This time I want to ask a boy to answer, please raise your hand."

After the interaction just now, the atmosphere has been mobilized, and there is time to buffer thinking. This time, many people raised their hands. Ding Qi did not look at the roster anymore, and directly pointed to the right and said, "What's your name in the fifth row of men wearing gray sportswear, what's your name? Which professional one? Please analyze it for everyone!"

The boy stood up, looked down at the notebook on the desk, and said in a hurry: "My name is Bi Xuecheng, I am a student in Class 1602, Microelectronics Major... I noticed just now that in the second story, the old man from the neighbor reminded Aunt Wang whether he lost his soul? This needs to be viewed in combination with the local social background.

In many folk legends, there is a saying that the soul will be lost. Even in different backgrounds, there is a saying that the soul will die once it leaves the body.

The folk rumors that the teacher just told actually processed this statement into a specific story. The implicit meaning is that if a person loses his soul and cannot be found, he may die. It sounds absurd, but it also has a realistic social background, which almost everyone can understand."

Bi Xuecheng spoke a little fast, but his language was very good, and his thinking logic was very clear. While he was speaking, he was looking at the notebook of the desk. Obviously, he had already made a summary of the transcripts just now. Ding Qi nodded with satisfaction and interrupted, "Then the second core element of these three stories, say 'I saw myself', and I can live for one more year, how can I explain this?"

Bi Xuecheng lowered his head and scratched something in the notebook. After thinking for a few seconds, he replied in a somewhat uncertain tone: "This is a means to face the unknown fear and try to resolve inner conflicts."

Ding Qi asked with great interest: "Oh, please tell me carefully."

Bi Xuecheng tried to summarize: "Since ancient times, there have been more or less legends everywhere. People will die if they lose their souls. Some legends in some places are even more specific. They say that people can feel their souls leaving their bodies before they die, so there are such folk stories.

Of course, folk rumors are not worthy of trust, but because of their mystery, many people's attitude is to be skeptical, and even feel inexplicable pressure and fear. If it really happens, it is a problem that individuals are difficult for them to resist and solve, but people must find a way to resolve them and inner pressure.

Whether seeking help from mysterious rituals or seeking religion, it is an attempt to solve social and psychological problems. Therefore, the story will change when it is spreading, giving a seemingly separate but practical solution. That is to live for one more year. Only in this way can people eliminate inner conflicts and anxiety."

Ding Qi: "Have you ever had such a legend in your hometown? I noticed that you raised your hand just now."

Bi Xuecheng nodded and said, "Yes, I heard similar stories when I was a child, which were told by the old man in my father's office guard."

For a second-year undergraduate student, Bi Xuecheng's answers were almost full, and his logical thinking, induction, and expression and statement skills were quite good. Ding Qi couldn't help but smile a little bit of a cramped smile, remembering his experience in another class back then.

The mentor Liu Feng asked questions with the same example, and Ding Qi's answer was almost the same as Bi Xuecheng in front of him. Now that his identity has changed, Ding Qi stood on the podium, so he added another question from Teacher Liu Feng that year: "Then we go back to the source of the discussion, it is difficult to verify the authenticity of folk legends. If we assume that these three stories have happened in some form, at least the first element 'saw myself' is true, how can you analyze it?"

Bi Xuecheng replied: "It is still the point I just said that there have been such legends since ancient times. It may be feudal superstition, or it may be out of thinking about life, the relationship between the body and the soul, so people have processed such stories."

Ding Qi shook his head: "You don't fully understand my question. You analyzed one of the causes of folk stories and used a relatively complex logical reasoning process. This is reasonable. But when we cannot be truly sure, we cannot rule out another possibility of the event itself, that is, someone really saw themselves."

Bi Xuecheng was slightly stunned: "Did you really see it?"

Ding Qi: "I'm not saying that the facts must be like this, but the most direct possibility cannot be ruled out. This is not a scientific attitude of doing social investigations and phenomenon analysis."

Bi Xuecheng couldn't help but question: "This is unreasonable!"

Ding Qi still smiled, very much like the smile of his mentor Liu Feng back then: "Either it is because of illusions or hallucinations, there is a last possibility that he really saw it. So why does this phenomenon occur? For individuals, psychoanalysis is needed, and for groups, group psychological analysis is needed."

Bi Xuecheng was a little stubborn, and asked in turn: "If it is an illusion and hallucination, how can it be considered to be really seen?"

Ding Qi felt that the discussion had gone a little offside, but he still explained patiently: "What I said is true is from a psychological perspective. Illusion does not count, because the person involved can realize that he was wrong.

But illusion is a subjective experience, and the person's senses really see the corresponding thing. To distinguish this phenomenon, we must see whether the subjective experience is a true reaction to the objective world.

If people of different times, places, and identities have had this subjective experience, we need to study the causes of this phenomenon, such as being hinted by socialized backgrounds, etc.

Classmate Bi Xuecheng, you have answered very well. Please sit down now... I'll do another survey like before. Which classmate here has heard or can remember the folk rumors like these three stories, please raise your hand again."

This time, the number of people raised their hands was almost twice as many times. Ding Qi looked at everyone's reactions on the podium. In fact, he knew very well that many people had not really heard of similar rumors, but many of them did not deliberately want to lie.

Some people may be trying to show that they are "not ignorant"; some people may be seeing the people around them raise their hands and hesitantly raise their hands; more people think they recall similar rumors, but this is not a real memory.
