Chapter 237 Reconnaissance Mission

In order to find out as soon as possible whether the German army had really ambushed an armored division in the forest area near Korenievo, not only Rokosovsky sent scouts, but also Zhukov sent reconnaissance personnel to the Korenievo area, and also dispatched reconnaissance planes to conduct a careful search of the area.
The air force commander, who received the order from Zhukov, sent two groups of the best pilots to reconnaise the areas where the German army might have hid, but in the end they found nothing.
Sokov stood at the entrance of his command department, looking at the reconnaissance plane flying overhead, thinking to himself: If it is a target on the open ground, the reconnaissance plane can still be used. But if you want to find the German troops hidden in the forest, the reconnaissance plane seems a little overwhelmed.
Thinking of this, he turned around and walked into the command center, came to the telephone, and after shaking the crank a few times, he picked up the microphone and stuck it in his ear. When a sound came out from inside, he directly ordered: "I am Major Sokov, pick me up the Istrian Battalion and find the acting battalion commander Belkin."
But after Belkin's voice came out of the receiver, Sokov said straight to the point: "Comrade Belkin, come here immediately with the reconnaissance platoon leader Lieutenant Christopher. I have a task to hand over to you."
In recent battles, Istria Battalion did not participate in the battle, which caused a lot of grievances from the acting battalion commander Belkin. At this moment, when he heard Sokov ask him to take the reconnaissance platoon leader to the division headquarters, he immediately guessed that there must be some important task to him. He immediately agreed, put down the phone and took Christopher to the division headquarters.
When Belkin and Krasovsky came to the division headquarters, they saw Sokov standing at the table with his back to the door, explaining something to the division chief of staff Potukin. Belkin hurriedly stepped forward and said loudly: "Comrade Commander, Belkin, Acting Battalion Commander of Istria, is ordered to come. I obey your order, please instruct!"
Sokov turned around and walked to Belkin, held the other party's hand, and said with a smile: "Comrade Belkin, I have not allowed the Istrian Battalion to participate in the battle during this period of battle. I believe the commanders and fighters must have had a lot of resentment?"
Belkin grinned, then said tactfully: "Comrade Commander, the soldiers were not able to participate in the battle. It's true that the soldiers felt a little disappointed. As for resentment, no, this is really not!"
"Okay, don't explain it anymore." Sokov let go of his hand and continued, "Call you two over today, and there is an important task to give you."
Although Belkin and Christopher guessed that there must be an important task on the way to the division headquarters. But when they heard Sokov say this, they were still very excited. However, they did not speak, but waited quietly for Sokov to assign tasks to them.
"According to the instructions of our superiors, our division will soon launch an attack in the direction of Bryansk." Sokov called the two to the table, pointed to the map spread above, and said to them: "Based on the information we have obtained, the enemy may have an ambush in the forest area near Korenievo..."
"O my God!" Christopher couldn't help but exclaim when he heard this: "The Germans actually hide an armored division here."
"Yin Jing, Comrade Lieutenant." Belkin rolled his eyes at Christopher and said unhappily: "Listen to the teacher, you will express your opinion."
"The task given to you by the division is to find out whether there are German ambush troops in the forest area near Korenievo within twelve hours!" After saying this, Sokov looked up at the two and asked, "Is there any problem?"
"Comrade of the Division," Christopher said in embarrassment: "Twelve hours are a bit too short. Can you give more time? You know, from our station to this forest area, there are seven or eight kilometers away."
"Comrade Lieutenant, if you feel that you cannot complete this task, I can let other comrades take charge of this reconnaissance mission." Hearing Christopher say this, Sokov immediately said mercilessly: "Although the reconnaissance location is seven or eight kilometers away from us, the division can provide you with three sides, which can save a lot of time."
Christopher finally came to such an important reconnaissance mission, so why would he give up easily? He quickly pretended to be enlightened and said, "It turns out that the division is going to provide us with three sides. In this way, our marching speed can be greatly improved. It is more than enough to complete the reconnaissance mission in twelve hours."
"Bring a radio station when you go," Sokov told Christopher: "Whether you find the enemy or not, you must report the reconnaissance to me within twelve hours. Do you understand?"
"I understand, comrade in command." Christopher replied extremely simply.
Sokov raised his hand and looked at his watch, and then said to Christopher: "Comrade Lieutenant, the Chief of Staff has prepared you for you. There are only three cars in total, just parked outside the door, and the radio station you need is also in the car. Remember to pick more scouts with rich experience and go to perform this task with you."
After assigning the mission, Sokov waved to Belkin and Christopher and said to them: "Okay, the mission has been arranged, you can leave."
"Comrade Commander," although he heard Sokov let him leave, Berkin still stood there without moving. He looked at Sokov and asked, "I want to ask on behalf of the entire battalion commanders and fighters, will our battalion have a chance to participate in the battle in the next battle?"
"Is this a matter of saying, Comrade Belkin." Seeing that Belkin could not hold back, Sokov smiled and said to him: "You have been resting for a long enough time, and it's your turn to play."
Hearing that in the next battle, Sokov was about to arrange his troops to participate in the battle, Belkin couldn't help but be overjoyed. He quickly raised his hand to salute Sokov, and then turned around and left the division headquarters with Christopher.
Potujin looked at the two of them leaving and asked, "Comrade Commander, since the Front Army and the Group Army have sent reconnaissance personnel, why should we send reconnaissance personnel? Isn't this an unnecessary move?"
