69. Roasted Duck
When Dong Qiangqiang and Tong Lele walked into the kitchen, Lei Lanting was standing by the oven in a daze.
"What were you shouting just now?" Dong Qiangqiang asked as he approached.
"Roast duck..." Lei Lanting looked confused and pointed at the oven with confusion and fear in his tone, "Just...one..."
"No way?" Dong Qiangqiang glanced into the oven, and sure enough, there was one hanging on the boom. He turned to look at Tong Lele and joked, "You couldn't have killed one by yourself, right?"
Tong Lele gently pushed Dong Qiangqiang's arm and whispered: "No, it's not me." There was a tremor in her voice.
"It's not you and it's not him. Could it be that I ate it?" Dong Qiangqiang looked at the other two people in confusion, "Aren't you the two who left the kitchen last?"
Tong Lele and Lei Lanting had serious expressions, and neither of them spoke. The three of them knew in their hearts: There must be someone else in this house.
The question is: How many people are there? Why don't they come out?
Lei Lanting and Tong Lele were thinking more: Or, the other party is not human at all?
Compared to the other two, Dong Qiangqiang was not particularly panicked. He opened the oven, and the aroma of roast duck hit his nostrils. He looked inside again. Although there was a lot of space in the oven, there was really nothing else.
After closing the oven door, he opened several cupboards next to the oven and rummaged through them.
"What are you looking for?" Looking at his actions, Lei Lanting couldn't help but ask.
"The second roast duck." Dong Qiangqiang closed a cabinet door, then opened the next door and looked inside, "Can it still fly?"
"Don't look for it, it's definitely not here anymore." Lei Lanting said dejectedly and sat down on the chair next to him.
"Otherwise, let's go?" Tong Lele looked at her watch, "There is another bus at 19 o'clock. Let's run there right away. Maybe there's still time. If you still want to clean, just come back tomorrow morning."
Lei Lanting slapped his thigh and walked towards the gate: "Hurry up, you won't be able to catch the bus if you're late."
After receiving Lei Lanting's response, Tong Lele ran over quickly. The two walked out of the kitchen and heard no footsteps behind them. They looked back at Dong Qiangqiang. He opened the oven door calmly and took the roast duck out of it lightly.
, put it on an iron plate prepared in advance on the workbench, then put the marinated fish into the oven, set the temperature and time, turn around and skillfully slice the roast duck with a knife.
Dong Qiangqiang's move surprised the other two people. Lei Lanting looked at Dong Qiangqiang doubtfully: "Old Dong, why don't you leave? If it's too late, we won't have a car."
"Well, you two go back, I won't leave." Dong Qiangqiang said without stopping his hands.
"What do you mean?" Lei Lanting glanced at Tong Lele's anxious expression beside him, took two steps back, and asked urgently, "What do you mean 'you won't leave'?"
"If you don't want to leave, you just don't want to leave." Dong Qiangqiang stopped his knife and glanced at Lei Lanting, "Why should I leave?"
"Because..." Lei Lanting paused, "There were inexplicable sounds of balls being slapped, footsteps, bells ringing, and, well, there was also the missing roast duck."
"What does this mean?" Dong Qiangqiang resumed his duck-like movements with his hands.
"What does it mean?" Lei Lanting asked anxiously, "It means there is a ghost."
"You're wrong." Dong Qiangqiang shook his head, "I was a little vague at first, but I'm not worried anymore when the duck is lost. There must be no ghosts in this villa. At least the person who stole the ducks must not be a ghost."
Hearing what he said, Lei Lanting also became confused. Tong Lele interrupted: "Then... then you said it's okay, where did the roast duck go?"
"I didn't find the roast duck either." Dong Qiangqiang shrugged and looked at Lei Lanting's face, "But if there is really a ghost, why not take away both ducks? Why leave one for us? Why not
Did you eat the fish too? Why not just kill us?"
"I'm not an encyclopedia. Why do you ask so many questions? How can I know? Just tell me whether you can leave or not?" Lei Lanting asked angrily.
"I won't leave." Dong Qiangqiang lowered his voice, "If you want to leave, you can go."
"You..." Tong Lele was speechless for a moment and glared at Lei Lanting.
Lei Lanting understood, and immediately stepped forward with Tong Lele, pulling Dong Qiangqiang's arms from left to right. Dong Qiangqiang grabbed the corners of the console with his hands and shouted: "Lei Lanting, why are you pulling me when you want to leave?"
"
"Nonsense, I won't worry if I leave you here alone." Lei Lanting was very strong, and he was about to lift Dong Qiangqiang from the chair.
"Why are you panicking?" Dong Qiangqiang suddenly said softly, "There is a reason why I don't leave."
"What reason do you have?" Lei Lanting raised his head and asked.
"We can design a game to catch the 'ghost'."
"Catch a 'ghost'?" The other two people stopped holding Dong Qiangqiang's arms at the same time and asked in unison, "How to catch it?"
"Would you two like to eat some roast duck first?" Dong Qiangqiang said as he pushed a plate of duck meat with skin on to the front of the counter. "I still have some prepared sauce in my bag that can be used as roast duck sauce."
Yes, but all the prepared duck cakes went into the wild boar’s belly, and now there are no duck cakes left.”
"Then tell us first, how do you plan to play the game?" Lei Lanting let go of Dong Qiangqiang's arm, opened his backpack, and took it out while saying, "Let's talk while we eat. It doesn't matter if we don't have duck cakes, I still have them.
Bread, just treat it like meat buns. Come on, Lele, you should hurry up and eat some too."
Tong Le was happy to see that both boys were not leaving, and it was hard for her to leave alone. It seemed that tonight was destined to be a difficult night. She sighed, let go of Dong Qiangqiang's arm, and sat down in front of the console gloomily.
Although it was his first time to cook roast duck, Dong Qiangqiang’s skill was really good. He didn’t set the temperature too high, but roasted it at medium temperature for nearly forty minutes. The skin of the duck was charred on the outside and tender on the inside, and the color was orange with yellow in the middle.
Although the meat was a little fat, it was fat but not greasy. Both Dong Qiangqiang and Lei Lanting had their mouths glossy after eating and looked very happy.
"Lele, why haven't you eaten at all?" Lei Lanting sucked the oil on a few fingers with his mouth, and picked up a duck leg with lingering interest.
Tong Lele frowned: "I don't have much appetite."
"Hey, this is not a blessing. I have to say that Lao Dong's skills are really good." Lei Lanting praised, "It's a pity that there is only one. It would be great if that one is still there."
"You have such a big heart." Tong Lele sighed.
Just when the roast duck was about to be finished, Dong Qiangqiang opened the oven door, took out the roasted fish and placed it in front of the two of them: "Try this again. Lele, if you don't eat at all, you won't be able to run away at night."
"Ah? Do I still need to run?" Tong Lele was startled.
"I'll tell you after I eat it. Unfortunately, there's no onion, ginger, and garlic seasoning here. I'll just make do with it this time. I'll show you my skills next time."
Tong Lele gently picked up a large piece of fish meat with a fork, blew it first, and then put it into her mouth. While chewing the fish meat, a fishy smell immediately entered her nasal cavity. She endured it for a while before reluctantly swallowing the fish.
She went down, but she really couldn't stand the smell and refused to take another bite.
Lei Lanting was not as gentle as Tong Lele. He used a knife and fork to remove the fish bones skillfully, and then killed a fish in three strokes. While smashing his mouth, he said regretfully: "It's a pity that you can't drink red wine while doing it."
Eating fish, hey, what a pity..."
"Have you ever worked as a cook in China?" Tong Lele asked curiously.
"I didn't know how to cook anything before I went abroad. My family was afraid that I would starve to death in Germany, so they found a chef for me and taught me for a month. At least I could make some home-cooked dishes. But I didn't study seriously, and now I am...
The level of starvation.”
"Hey, old Dong, don't talk about the cook for now, tell us quickly, what do you think?" Lei Lanting asked while burping and picking his teeth.
"Yeah, tell me quickly." Tong Lele also urged.
