On passive phased array radar, the array unit has no signal transmission capability, nor does it have independent amplification and processing capability.

Instead, through certain technical means, the signals from the unified radiation source are released separately in a specific way.

The same is true when accepting it. After receiving it, a unified amplification and processing device must be passed on to finally analyze and obtain the observation results.

The number of targets that are tracked and guided at the same time has been increased from the single one of traditional mechanical radars to several, which is a great improvement.

It is equivalent to a relatively simple LED light box. It is painted on the outside and has several light tubes inside, which brightens the overall light box.

There are still only one to a few control modules, that is, those light tubes in the light box.

The lamp can emit different lights, or even lights of different angles, but cannot be controlled too delicately.

As for the active phased array radar, it is currently the ideal state.

All array units have independent transmission and reception, amplification and processing capabilities. Each unit can be controlled separately, and the array units can be freely combined with each other.

In theory, each array unit is a small radar, and each small radar can track a target.

Theoretically, the tracking and guidance capabilities can reach hundreds or even thousands of them, but if there are too many, it will be blurred, just like if the words and patterns on the screen are too small, it will be hard to see clearly.

However, it is still quite easy to guide dozens of goals, and you can see hundreds of goals when necessary.

This is the evolution from an LED light box to an LED screen, which can play dynamic pictures, that is, videos.

Traditional radar is equivalent to a light bulb. The advanced ones may be energy-saving lamps or colored lamps, which can only emit simple light.

Passive (passive) phased array radar can be regarded as an LED light box that can actively illuminate several fixed images.

Active (active) phased array radar is an intelligent LED screen that can directly play animations.

The same is true for control. The light bulb can only be switched, the light box can be dimmed and changed the screen, and the screen can be used as a computer screen, and controlled by a computer and a mouse.

Active phased array radar is basically the most modern and intelligent radar working mode that can be realized at present.
